My wife gave up two tags to Taylor in 8 years. A 12AE early deer tag and a cow elk tag. So saying a parent or grandparent that doesn't hunt is giving too many good tags to a junior hunter is very naive. The parent or grandparent still has to draw those tags too. Which we all know is not easy to do. She now has 10 BPs for pronghorn, 8 for deer, and 6 for elk. She will be getting BPs for the next 9-10 years, so when my two granddaughters turn 10, they will have a chance at a decent tag to get them excited on hunting if they show an interest. But we all know even at 20, 18, and 16, those are not a given for a bonus pass draw in a premium unit. Especially pronghorn. 20 is not even close. If you haven't ever taken a kid hunting, you don't know the joys it brings to both the kid and to the adult. And kids are what this sport needs. Without this generation supporting the tradition in 10-15 years, it will be gone. If you think that statement is far fetched, you are sorely mistaken. Look at the world we are living in now.

Mine was a .250AI. Those speeds were totally safe in my rifle and not max loads. Published loads are supposed to be safe in ALL rifles. Including the old ones. Lever actions, pumps, etc. Modern powders have really upped the possibilities for quality built modern bolt action rifles.

Had a .250AI for years. Paige shot her 1st deer when she was 10. 100 TSX @ 3100, 115 HVLD @ 3050 from a 23" 1:10".

1. More wardens in the field. Last year in NM, I saw 3 different wardens on my 3 day pronghorn hunt. Got checked twice. That really helps deter violations. 2. Stiffer penalties for game violations. Not talking about the honest mistakes. But the serial poachers or even 2nd time offenders need more than a slap on the wrist. There should not be a third time. 3. 25% higher tag prices, but 20% fewer tags. No loss or gain in revenue. Just a gain in game population. 4. Tag surrender, to me, should be on a case by case basis, and not just because you can't find a good animal during your scouting trips. Most guys have an idea if it is going to be a good, mediocre, or bad year for antler or horn growth before the draws. Don't think it will be a good year? Get a BP only. Most guys with max, or near max points are the ones turning in the tags for this reason. This would be hard to enforce though.

Brunos has Winchester brass in stock. https://www.brunoshooters.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=80951 You can order Redding dies from them too.

Every single game animal taken by them is now suspect. Whether legal or not.

They vary depending on time of year, and year itself. I change the ones that have water to blue during scouting.

1:10" is Rem factory twist rate.

Here is one unit worth of water sources. How nice is that?

Well? Any conclusion to the bull?

You must have a helluva an arm!

The original ranch owner passed away 3 years ago. His son thinks he owns the road. He does not. Road is a public road. There was a recent fire in there about 2 months ago. Burned all the way to the top of Table Mesa, almost burned the radio site we built up there. Be careful.

Blind? I know someone found a blind bull a couple years ago and called in G&F to put it down.

Duwane Adams. Hands down. Beware some other guides.

That is what pack mules (AKA "Dad") are for. Carrying the heavy rifle, then they shoot a monster deer, and you get to pack it out.

Differentiate between private, NF, STL, BLM, NP, tribal lands, unit boundaries. Map water sources, rubs, wallows, trails, various game, glassing spots, shooting spots, sheds, etc.

Love it. Helped on a private land tag last year confirming a buck was about 30 yards on legal property. He had been hanging out just out of legal range until he made one fatal mistake on day 3. The year before too.

He is still around. On LRH often. Plus, I text him quite a bit.
