Is it a true Short Action? What action, Rem 700? Clone? Savage? Winchester 70? Do you want to load to mag length, or is a single shot OK? Short action mag length for Rem & clones is right around 2.880 stock. If you want longer, make sure you have a minimum of the diameter of the bullet seated in the neck (.264").

Never too young to start on basics like sit, stay, come. Use their names a lot. Love them, cuddle them, spend time with them. -

Camera is a Nikon D5200 w. Nikon Nikkor AF-S VR 70-300. I am still learning this camera, but it is pretty decent for a mid level camera. And the puppies are growing like weeds. -

Well, the younger of my two original dogs has really warmed up to his new play pals. At least the pups will grow up tough. They play really rough, all three of them. -
Even BETTER! Kids and hunting are the best. I took mine up there a month before my hunt for weekend scouting trips and left it in a camping spot on NF land with no issues. It was unattended for up to 2 weeks before the hunt, and I was nervous, but no one messed with it, and no notes from USFS left on it.

What binoculars to buy

Save your pennies until you get to $1K+, then purchase your 10s. I think you will be MUCH happier. -
SO you are saying you drew a Kaibab deer tag.....congrats!

And if you get caught running red dye diesel in a vehicle used on the highways, you pay a "tax" (also known as a fine). It is for machinery, tractors, equipment, etc. I can't believe you got a clerk to give you $.08/gallon back.

Has anyone seen any LARGE junipers here in Arizona?

Unit 7W has a few monsters on the south slope of Sitgreaves Mtn. Not as big as the photos here though. -
I am 6' -5", so it is plenty high for me, and rock steady. Not the absolute lightest setup, but works great. Well worth the weight and price.

My Manfrotto MT294C3 (290 series) w. 700RC2 pan head is 71" to the top of the pan head. With my 15s on an adapter, it puts center of eye piece at 72 1/2" from flat floor. If you are 6'4", your eyes are probably right around 5'11" to 6'0" from the floor, being about 4-5" down from the top of our head. If I put the ball head on the tripod (seen on the counter in the background), I could get an extra 1" in height (pan head is 3.5" base to mounting plate, ball head is 4.5" base to mounting plate).

Sorry Jack, just looked and I don't have one.

50gr. V-max/Z-Max over 25.5 gr. Benchmark in my .223 at 3400fps. Puts a whooping on anything you hit with it from prairie dogs to coyotes.

Bummer. I feel your pain. I had a lab for 16+ years and had to put her down in 2014. Cried like a baby. New pups come along to help ease the loss. A man without a dog is not complete.

H would score a 10 on my plate next to a loaded baked potato and a chili relleno.

My wife goes into surgery this Friday, and even though I am the one telling her it is no big deal, I am scared to death. It is pretty major, but a fairly routine one. Great doctor & surgeon, but it is still constantly on my mind. Any prayers would be much appreciated. Please pray for the surgeon and the staff, for God to guide their hands, and for a quick recovery for my wife through God's healing. Thanks guys, this woman has given me 29 amazing years so far, and I hope to see another 50 with her. High school sweethearts, and she changed my life for the better and has given me everything I could have ever dreamed of here on earth.

Price range? -
The surgery went very well. My wife is doing great. Hopefully, she gets to come home this morning. Sleeping on a chair at the hospital sucks. Living 1.5 miles from the hospital is nice so I can run home and take a shower. Thanks to all, and keep her in your prayers for a speedy recovery.

Terrible BC. Flies decent. Hammers on game. I used Barnes TTSX on a muley at 488 yards out of my .25-06 Ackley, complete pass through quartering on and the deer never took a single step. I had a good load worked up for my .300RUM in a 175 LRX but never used them on game. Flew pretty darn good though. Sub MOA. I bet the 6.5mm 127 LRX would be great on game, but make sure to keep them above the minimum 1600fps. So maybe out to 700 yards or so. Kinetic energy will be good out to 600 or so to retain 1000ft/lbs. depending on your velocity.

I use the lowest rings I can get on my rifles. Even with a 20MOA base and 56mm objective on a 34mm tube, medium rings (.92") clear just fine on mine with a Sendero contour barrel. Plenty of clearance for scope caps too. I wish I could find low rings in my flavor. I have no problems dialing out to 19.5 mils and holding another 2 mils for 1770 yards.

You should have seen the other one! Looked like he chewed up a bottle of liquid bubbles. Kind of freaked ME out. -
Prayers sent to all, for comfort in the loss of a child, and thanksgiving to those who get to spend more time with cherished loved ones. We will meet them again someday. Rest assured they will be waiting for us at Heaven's Gates with open arms and great stories and memories.
