    Good Guy Seller List

Already on the list, but thanks for the second opinion.

7mm Mag Tikka t3 Load Data?

To a certain yardage where game is shot (about 800-850), absolutely correct. Go longer, and things flip flop and really spread out. But energy is lower pretty much across the board.

    He is finished! Candlestick Buck

    Well said.
  4. What bullets were you shooting? Some of the best shooting match bullets (Sierra Match Kings) have the worst meplats for measuring COAL. Even Berger Hybrids/VLDs have some variation in the meplat. So measuring COAL is pointless (no pun intended).

Looking for a position in the Valley

If he is not afraid of heights, the tower industry is ALWAYS looking for good hands. No need to know the biz as long as he is reliable, hard working and has a clean record. Long, hot hours, but good money to be made.
  6. Good exit hole/blood trail?
  7. Take a fired case, without resizing the neck. Take bullet of choice, and put a tiny dab of rubber cement and spin on bearing surface of bullet. Seat bullet into case very long. Place round into chamber and close bolt. Open bolt very carefully and apply pressure to case so the ejector does not pull case to the right while ejecting round. Measure to ogive. Repeat 3-5 times. If you were getting pressure right away with your first load, even if you were jammed into the lands, you started your load development way too high. Start LOW and work up. I am glad you stopped shooting right away.

    Montini's dripping pie hole

Outlaw the importation of trophies, and say goodbye to the rich hunters pumping MILLIONS of dollars into third world country's economy. It will be a downward spiral into deteriorating conditions county wide, and maybe even continent wide. No money for conservation and game management = no game to conserve, manage and protect.
  9. What bullet? Looked like a pass through. I bet he was some great eating.

    Portable/Compact Tire Compressor advice

I have had my Viair II for probably 8-10+ years, back when I used to off-road a LOT. It is not what you call fast filling up a 37-39" tire, but it beats changing one out. I bet mine has aired up at least 500 tires. I doubt you can say that with the cheapies from Pep Boys or Autozone.

    Question on Expensive Camo Pants

I like all cotton myself for hot/warm weather hunts. I buy a lot of pants at www.sierratradingpost.com. Both for working outside in the summer and hunting too. You can get ripstop cotton Carhartt for cheap. They are either blemishes or discontinued or overstock. I have bought 15+ pair, and only found two with very small stitched up cuts less than 1/2" long each. If you become a member, you save way more, and get coupons too. I got most of mine for between $15-19 each. http://www.sierratradingpost.com/carhartt-cotton-ripstop-pants-for-men~p~4154d/?filterString=mens-pants-and-jeans~d~143%2Fcarhartt~b~3120%2F&colorFamily=04 If you sign up as a referral, you can get $10 to use on your first purchase. http://www.sierratradingpost.com/invite~4123848/lancetkenyon/

12x50 vs 15x56-help me make my purchase

I have the 10x42 Euro HDs, and also the 15x56 Euro HDs. Personally, I use the 10s about 80-90% of the time for anything under 1 mile. If over that, I swap to the 15s. Even in shaded canyons at a mile, I can pick out deer/elk bedded with the 10s. And I can pick out standing deer/elk with the 10s past a mile on most occasions. The extra 5X magnification is awesome over the 10s when stretching it out there. I would not want to lose more than half of the difference just to leave one pair at home. Especially since the 12X are about the same size & weight as the 15s. I carry the 10s on my harness, and the 15s in a pack with an adapter already affixed, so swapping binos takes less than 1 minute with digging them out and swapping glass on the tripod. I did a big review of MY opinion on the 10s, and some on the 15s a while back. I will try to dig it up.

    Kings 200" buck

Remember, you only get spread credit for the length of the longest main beam. You can have a 36" wide buck, with a short 24" main beam, and you only get credit for 24" of that spread. So width doesn't always add as much as it could. But it sure looks great on a buck!
  14. Great meeting you Mike. Even better to see Jared up and thriving! And thanks for the devotional site.

    Picking out a scope

The 4-16x50 is plenty for shots out to 1K+, and my furthest shot on a coyote was with this very scope...at 1327 yards. I think they are a fine entry level scope. But there are others out there that are far better, but at higher prices. You get what you pay for. And to get a true long range scope, be prepared to spend more money than the $550 price tag.

    Zeroing your scopes!!!!

I just bore sight. Pull the bolt and center a distant small target in the bore. Then dial the scope until you are on. Then go shoot to refine. I have never been more than 8" off @ 100 yards.

    Scope rings

http://www.jackweigand.com/Ruger-M77-MKII-Rifle-Scope-Mounts-No-Drill.html Get rid of the Ruger M77 style ring requirement. Then pick whatever Picatinny rings you want.
  18. I'm in for the last spot.
  19. Can one guy buy it, and bring 3 different guys each day? Or does it have to be the same 4 guys each time?
  20. A 6.5 Grendel at a mile? That is really impressive. I would have thought with the lower MV, it would go subsonic and lose stability LONG before 1760 yards. More like between 1200-1400. My 6.5 SLR pushing 140 Berger Hybrids @ 2920fps go subsonic right around 1700+/- depending on weather conditions.

If you need any starter load info for that .25-06 AI, let me know. I have tinkered a LOT with mine.

    Rifle or scope upgrade

I think the top end Vortex line )Razor 2) is amazing. I had one on order for 5 months before finally cancelling that order after the ship date kept getting pushed back month after month, and then added a 5 month delay at the end. If they ever catch up on the Razor 2, I might order one up. I think the others in their lines are moderate at best. Decent glass for the price, and even though I never had any issues with any of mine, I have heard of WAY too many factory issues from things OTHER than damage by the user. There are other companies out there with a no questions asked warranty too. Steiner for one. Burris too, but they are owned by Steiner. And others with lifetime warranties that cover anything but abuse and theft, like Leupold & Kahles for example. You have to pay to play, just like a house, car, etc. If you wreck it, why should Ford cover your F250? Or why should Fulton cover your house if you left the stove on and burned it down?
  23. Have you considered a muzzle brake on the .300WSM? Cheap compared to a new gun. But no new gun. And loud on the ears.

    Custom Cheek Piece

I have a gun ready to go to him in a few weeks. He does amazing work. Good pricing too.
