Looks awesome! Congrats on a hard earned trophy.

I know of two nice bucks in 21. I was hoping to put a tag on one of them this year, but alas, no tag again.

Going to be a very tender and tasty first deer! Best way to start an archery career. Congrats.

1st time quail season

The Lohman calls work great for Gambel's quail. When you blow them, say "Chi-qui-ta" like the banana. -
Congrats on a great animal.

So jealous. Great accomplishment and goat.

I don't use scent free clothing. But I wear clean clothes every day, and shower/wash every day too. Also, when hiking, I step in every fresh pellet I pass. I also use scent spray on my hat band and boots each evening. I hate campfires or smoke when on a hunt. To me, and I'm probably over thinking this, but smoke smell is a smell of danger to game. From hunter's camps to forest fires. Smoke=danger. -
I wear camo so other HUNTERS don't see me and my spots. But I mostly wear brown or green pants with a camo shirt.

Spec sheet says 26.25" barrel length. Which is even better! Sweet rifle. -
Love it! That is awesome.

Federal Gold Medal Match w. 69 or 77 SMK should do just fine.

But way funnier if you don't.......a smashed face print leaves good evidence of a closed glass door.

I used to shoot out of my living room arcadia door all the time. I could add 7 yards, and shoot from the AC in the summer. But I was always smart enough to open the door.

WTB Remington 870 Barrel 12 Gauge 26"+

Not mine, but I heard it was wrong powder, pistol powder used accidently. I can't believe this type of thing never happened to my brother and I. He used to load all kinds of weird shells. Double powder, nails, chain, marbles, etc. -
I got lost when I was 14 on a deer hunt in 4A. I spent the long, cold night in a hollow log. The next morning, I found a road, and got picked up by another hunter and he drove me back to my camp. I was 4 miles away. The Sheriff Dept. had put out a search party already. My Dad was so mad/happy/relieved/proud. He also told me to never, ever, under any circumstance, tell my Mom what happened. And I haven't. I have never, to this day, seen him cry harder than he did that day. I could not imagine what he went through that night. We even finished the hunt...unsuccessfully.

Looking for advice on raising a child into a hunter
lancetkenyon replied to TonyC's topic in Youth Hunters
Personally, I think some of the Youth hunts are getting harder and harder to draw. I put my daughter in for general hunts for most big game now. Both my girls have hunted since they were 10 and have completed the Hunter's Education Class. It is a great learning experience. Let them make the decision on what their goal is. If they are happy with a doe or a cow elk, fantastic. If they want a bull or buck, spend a lot of time finding good spots to try your best to get them an opportunity to get a shot. Girls are the best. -

Carrying Extra Rounds in the Field
lancetkenyon replied to firstcoueswas80's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
My rifle pictured is a single shot. Plus, there is always an opportunity for a lion or coyotes to lose their lives while I am out hunting other big game. and Don't foget Willy, aka Songdogs, aka yotes.. Are there so many coyotes that I have to mention them twice? -
Reloading guys.
lancetkenyon replied to muledeerarea33?'s topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I use the RCBS hand primer. Once you get a feel for it, it is very easy to get consistent and quick. I can sit on the couch, watch TV, and prime a couple hundred .223 cases very quickly.
