Are you ready for the long shot? I am...

You realize the thread is 4 years old, and the last post is a year old, right? But good resurrection.

    Light Weight Deer Gun?

What I really like about that Tejas is the shoulder looks like a 40°, and not only bumped a bit forward, but also lengthened the neck just a bit too. Great design.

Unit 10 Bulls tags to decrease next year

I was really hoping the unit I was holding out for was going to be on the early rifle list. It is not...again. Oh well.

Taylor is 4'11", and about 95#. Pants are barely high-waters on her. Jacket still fits, but it won't next season, so I am selling as a set.

Yes, from about 20# to 30#. 30# limbs. Draw length is adjustable 1" +/-. plus a bit by twisting the string.

  17. I much prefer the 50gr. VMAX/ZMAX @ 3303FPS from my .223 too. No coyote has ever walked away from one of those from my gun. The 69gr. SMK is good too. Does not put them down quite as fast, but better for shots a little further out, and accuracy is amazing.

    Light Weight Deer Gun?

I think a 10-11# rifle is a great carry weight longer range rig. Good compromise and balance of weight to stability. 11# isn't too bad to carry over many a mountain mile either. Nice rifles Cactusjack. Is the Tejas an "Ackleyized" .300RUM?

    best 223 bulk ammo

Most military ammo sucks for accuracy. Depending on your expectations, I would go for a cheaper varmint type loading. Black Hills is good too, but not cheap.
  20. They came out. Usually $.50 to 2" hole, but not like a grenade went off.

    Lake Pleasant

If anyone is headed to Pleasant, or up here right now, head to Honeymoon Cove. Top water bite if off the charts. Not sure how long it will last.
  23. My .22-250 loved the 52gr. SMK HPBT.

    Came out nice...

I have worked up loads for 3 different 7RMs with RL22 and 168 HVLDs. Good combo. I will look at what each one liked for charge weight this weekend if you want. Start low and work up. Some show pressure before others, and it seems the customs use a better, slightly tighter reamer than the factory guns from what I have seen.

    Light Weight Deer Gun?

Is your scope purged with helium?700 SPS in .300WSM weighs 7lbs 6oz by itself. Add a brake (maybe 4-8 oz.) Add base & rings (4-12oz.) Add a Leupold 6.5-20x50 (20.4 oz.) I get 9lbs. 4oz. to 9lbs. 10oz. approximately. But don't sweat it. Most people underestimate the weight of their rifle. 1lb. is not a deal breaker. But I don't consider a 9+ pound rifle a lightweight either. But a very good weight to carry for 80% of hunting purposes. And it sure beats 16#.
