    CALIFORNIA LIONS EATING PETS

Since Kommiefornia banned lion hunting, the only time permits are given out are for "problem" lions. meaning usually the take of livestock and/or domesticated animals. So yeah, of course the cats will have domesticated pets in their stomachs. Again, money spent on a survey by Kommiefornia with very predictable results. Residents taxes at work to research something that is already known due to the fact that the reason they were killed is because they were taking the animals in question. Duh!

    Muzzle Break

I was wondering this too. Also I would like to put a badger thruster break on my new 7mm. I don't like the look of breaks that are real bulky on the barrel. I have just the stock barrel( not a bull barrel). Would a gun smith be able to turn it so that it matches the barrel more? Or does it take a bull barrel to do that?Try the APA Micro Bastard brake. They work extremely well (I have two Badger Thruster brakes on other rifles), and can be turned down by a good gunsmith. Phoenix Custom Rifles did my install on my 7RM. Barrel diameter at the muzzle is just barely larger than a Remington Magnum contour. It is right at .670". Remington Magnum sporter contour is .660" at the muzzle.

Which LR scope do I buy?

Since we still don't have a price range from the OP, hard to give an answer. Vortex Viper HS LR are good for the money, but nowhere near the Nightforce NXS, which is nowhere near the Kahles K624i, which is closer, but still not a Schmidt & Bender PMII 5-25x56, which is close but still not a Hensoldt. $800, $2200, $3000, $4500, $7000. Leaps and bounds difference in price, but the higher you get, the less noticeable differences to the masses. But the differences are definitely there if you spend a LOT of time behind the rifle.

    Warm weather

I am in the telecom business. All public safety & government work. No carrier (cell companies) work. I am not needing an apprentice right now, but if you have any experience in construction, there are always job openings somewhere. Most people in this business need to be able to travel though, one of the necessary evils of the job. I know thereare a few others on here in the trade too.

    Parallax or Side Focus Importance

I can give you the Webster's Dictionary version, then try to explain in my own words how it works and greatly effects accuracy. Parallax: The apparent displacement of an object observed by a change in position of the observer. A good way, (the best way in my opinion), is to look at a target, even at 100 yards, and with the reticle in focus and not touching the rifle or scope at all, move your head up and down or side to side. You must have a very stable rest to do this. This is best done on higher magnifications. If the crosshairs appear to move on the target, your parallax is not adjusted correctly. So what parallax adjustment does is ensure the cross hairs and target are in the same "plane". So when you move your position of observation, like with a slightly different cheek weld, or going from prone to sitting or offhand, the reticle remains stationary. Now if your parallax is not adjusted, and you are shooting 500 yards, and you are not consistent with your eye placement behind the scope, your reticle is moving on target, and you cannot aim at the same spot, even though it appears you do have the same point of aim. Making inches or more of difference at actual point of aim and point of impact without you even knowing it. But you must be careful. Just because a scope's parallax adjustment might have graduated numbers for yardage, everyone's eyes are different, and scope tolerances can vary. So 400 might be 350 or 450 yards easily. A lot of scopes have a range where the parallax will be set, say from 500 to 600, and some are very touchy, only giving you a small margin of error. It is such a habit of mine to check parallax, that I think I do it almost every time I get behind the scope. Even if I have it set and I am shooting at the same target distance for multiple shots. For hunting, I usually leave mine set on about 200, because of the possibility of quick closer shots. A target at 100 yards will have less shift and be acceptable shift in POA/POI on a game animal.

    Parallax or Side Focus Importance

I agree, in my opinion, very important for shots over 300 or so. Do you know how to check to verify parallax is eliminated once you have a scope with parallax adjustment? Just wondering if you have never used a scope with parallax adjustment, how much it matters at longer shots.

    7mm Rem Mag Memorial Build

It has been a while, but I think I was something like 3160fps for a 175 SGK w. 77 grains of RL22 in my 7STW Sendero. It had a short throat, so I could not seat the bullets out at all. SAAMI COAL was about it, so the lighter bullets actually worked and shot much better. I actually ditched the heavy bullets and shot 140s at 3450fps. I only ever shot one deer with it before I sold it. A big 3x3, about 25" wide but really tall.

    7mm Rem Mag Memorial Build

I will hopefully get to the range this weekend again, I will post results. What are you getting with your STW? My old STW only really got 160 fps better than a buddies 7RM, and I am sure a bit of that was the extra 2" of barrel length. It was kind of a let down for me back then too. But accuracy was better from my Sendero vs. his M77.

    Reloading scale

Is that the .02 grain model? I was looking at the Gempro 500 I think it was. They look promising, but I would still check my loads with my RCBS 5-0-5 until I was confident it was accurate.

Whats the Worst Archery Antelope Hunt?

Ditto. Plus the snakes. My buddy had that hunt and said he saw more rattlers than he ever sees hunting August deer in the southern units. Had one coiled under his tent when he took it down. Eff that. That plus the stickers in the socks, who would ever endure such misery. For a freaking antelope tag....I would.

    2016 Elk draw d-bag award

Does anyone know when the draw will start? Because my CC just got hit for elk and antelope both. I have never put in before, so I just put in for early rifle bull in 10, and antelope in 10. Has anyone ever hunted the "Big Bo" ranch? I hear there are public lands mixed with private that I can corner jump. Can you give me exact coordinates where I can find a 420" bull an 95" antelope? Since I am a non-resident, and cannot scout and only coming up for opening weekend with a gun I will buy from Walmart on my way from Kommiefornia, I want to be able to shoot to 2000 yards. Will a .22LR kill an elk at those distances? I heard either that or a .338 Lapua Magnum is what I will need, but since my 10 year old daughter and my 99 year old Grandpa drew tags too, I am leaning towards the .22LR, since it will be much quieter being fired out my Prius window while driving down the roads. Since no one in m family has ever shot before, will a Barska 6-24 scope be OK? Or should I go ahead and spend a little more for a Tasco? Is it unethical to shoot at night after I cross onto private property that is not posted correctly so I can avoid paying the $80 fee? I won't get caught, because I will steal all trail cameras I find out in the woods while driving off road to the honey holes you give me. I might come over on a couple weekends before to place some salt blocks and corn to attract the animals. One last thing, can someone post a photo of what an elk or antelope even looks like? I have been a vegan all my life, so I will leave the meat to rot, but I just want some bitchin photos to make my treehugging, liberal, same-sex, ethnic combination, partner/lover think I am a real man, instead of continuously still calling me Caitlyn.....I told him I regretted that decision already. But you know how women are.....or were.....or are.....or were.... Did I miss offending anyone or topic? I tried to cover all the hot topics. For the WIN!!! I humbly accept this award...... I should have gotten an anonymous account for this, but I am too lazy.

Whats the Worst Archery Antelope Hunt?

The worst archery antelope hunt is in the unit you have been watching a buck in for a couple years, and when you finally draw the rifle tag for it, some archer shoots your buck.

I don't think you can put a 2 year old in for a hunt to build bonus points. They must be 10 by the time the hunt starts to apply. The more I think about it, I would just wait another year. I mean, if she draws an early rifle bull tag as her very first hunt EVER, think of what a let down every other hunt to follow will be....

    7mm Rem Mag Memorial Build

I was in Bruno's yesterday, and picked up some of the new 183 Sierra Match Kings for the 7RM. Should be fun to see how they do. Berger twist calculator says plenty stable in my rifle. Sierra says minimum 1 in 8" twist, but I think my 1 in 8.5" twist should work fine. We shall see. With absolutely no load info yet, I started out comparing the 180 SMK and 180 Hybrid load info, and started just below halfway up and went up from there. I hope to get out this weekend and finish my 180 Hybrid load development, and start on these too. I seated them .0010" off the lands to start with. With a BC of .707, I hope they fly well! Unicorn Tears! The 183 SMKs are long....1.628" according to my calipers. 180 Berger Hybrid on left, 183 SMK on right. If they fly, I might have to look into opening up the meplat a touch....180 Berger Hybrid vs. 183 SMK Here is how they seat when chambered in my rifle touching the lands. Still fit in the magazine @ 3.5xx" (I don't have my note pad handy) L-R: 140 CT NBT, 140 Barnes XLC BT (Obsolete), 150 Barnes TSX, 175 SGK, 168 HVLD, 180 Hybrid, 183 SMK.

Same hunt for first and second choice?

No. If your first choice has tags left, you get one. If not, they go to your second choice to see if it has any tags available. If your second choice is your first choice, you wasted a second chance.
