    New 300 rum

I looked through one the other day and wondered if it was my eyes that just didn't like the NF. Maybe not...

    A Good Day

Absolutely beautiful rifle, and looks like a shooter too.

    New 300 rum

I push the 215 Hybrids @ 3100 w. 90 gr. H-1000 from my .300RUM w. 28" barrel. Your speeds are great, and the accuracy looks like every PCR rifle I own too. Nice looking rifle.
  4. Get a good piece of glass, and a Picatinny base for each rifle and swap the scope back and forth. Load up some 160-175 gr. .284 bullets for the 7RM, and some 180-215 .308 bullets for the .300 Weatherby. Do some development on each, and carry whichever one you prefer. Both of those will get the job done a lot further than 500 if you put the bullet where it needs to go. I have loaded for 3 different Ruger M77 tang safety 7RM rifles, and all 3 have loved Rem or Win brass, Rem 9 1/2 mag primers, 62.0 gr. RL22, and 168 HVLD seated .0500" jump.

    What Banks/Cards Are Showing Hits???

I used Cabelas during the Spring draw. I had to do the math to determine if I got drawn, but it did hit the first day. It didn't show on the account activity as a tag hit until the charge actually posted a few days later. Normally without temporary authorizations your credit limit minus balance due will be your available credit. If your available credit is lower than the difference between credit limit and balance due you have a hit! This. My Cabela's card shows a different available credit amount than yesterday!

    The Hit is ON!!!!

My Cabela's card shows an available credit limit change from yesterday in the amount of an elk tag! So someone in my home is going hunting! Plus, my older daughter and son-in-law drew elk tags too. Need to find out where and when now.

    NIB- Meopta 4.5-14X50 Riflescope

Meopta doesn't make a Meostar 4.5-14. Only in the Meopro line.

    Building My Reloading Bench

Reloading is definitely addicting. That striving for the extra 20fps or .05" accuracy. Using the latest and greatest bullets on the market. More penetration or less wind drift. I agree with the need to beef up the area where the press is bolted down. You will start to crack the plywood rather quickly without it. A lot of force is applied to the press when resizing cases.

    Building My Reloading Bench

My advice....put additional lighting directly above the bench, maybe just a touch in front to shine on the front of your equipment. And more storage space....the drawers are nice for the smaller items like scale, trickler, shell holders, trimmers, tools, etc. But bulk items like powder, primers, bullets, shell boxes, etc, need bigger storage space. Like cabinets, school lockers, etc.
  12. I would say it totally depends on the scope and glass quality. I would take a 30mm tube w. 40mm objective from any of the bigger mid to high range scope manufacturers over a 1" tube 50mm objective from BSA, Simmons or Tasco any day. Heck, I would take a 1" tube 32mm objective high quality over those too. But comparable mid or high scope quality, tough call. Depends on application too. 1" is 25mm, so a 30mm tube is about 20% bigger. 50mm is 25% bigger than 40mm. So technically, you should get 5% more light transmission from a 1" tube 50mm objective over a 30mm tube 40mm objective if glass quality and light transmission of glass and internal lens count is equal between the two scopes. I think tube diameter means a lot less to light transmission than objective diameter. But it means a stiffer/stronger scope with more adjustment.

Let your Draw anxiety GO and enjoy your weekend....

I will be out shooting, cleaning the shop and tack shed out, and weeding the other .75 acre I didn't get to complete last weekend. The bad thing is the last .75 acres has to be done by hand, not on a tractor.
  15. 30mm tube, 50mm objective minimum. 34mm tube, 50mm objective better. 34mm tube, 56mm objective even betterer. 3mm difference in mounting height is like .13". Most rings that will clear a 50mm objective will clear a 56mm objective. More adjustment if needed, more light for those extra few minutes early and late. Most importantly, light transmission on the glass itself. You can get a 40mm tube w. 56mm objective with a 75% light transmission per surface of glass in a cheap scope that is darker than a 92% light transmission in a 1" tube and 40mm objective in a high quality piece of glass. Clarity and contrast too. If you can't see it clearly in the light, you sure aren't going to see it clearly at near dark.

Cheap shot to get guys to look at your brochure. But effective.

    Card go hit!

Ummmm....this thread is a month and a half old.....you are way late to the bash.
  18. A 56mm objective made the difference in the most important last 4 minutes of my cousins elk hunt last year. Quantify that.

  20. I have a .25-06 Ackley, faster than factory, but I took a big bodied muley at 488 yards without a single step, quartering on, with a complete pass through using 100 TTSX @ 3600fps. Also took a big muley w. authority @ 160 yards with the 115 HVLD @ 3400fps. I have taken a coyote using my .250 Ackley, just a touch slower than a .25-06, and using a 100 SMK @ 3100fps, at 1327 yards. Plus many deer and javelina from 80 to 350+ fell to the .250 Ackley. I love the quarter bores.
  21. At 500 yards, the .25-06 is plenty for big mulies pushing a 100-120 grain bullet from 3100-3200 easily. Throw an 85gr NBT Varmint in there at 3300+ and coyotes will crash like they were hit by a lightning bolt. Tikka does show an offering in .260 Rem in the T3 Lite, that would be a good consideration as well. 100-140 gr bullets @ 3000+-2850.
  22. Of those two choices, .243 hands down. .22-250 is notorious for having a 1 in 14" or 1 in 12" twist, meaning only shooting 55 to 60 grain bullets, which are great for coyotes, but not enough for deer unless you are going to head shoot them. .25-06, 6.5x55, .270, .30-06, 7RM, .300WM would all be better choices for deer, and will put a coyote down with authority.

    Bergers FAILED me horribly

A "Hybrid" is a copper jacketed lead core hollow point bullet. The "Hybrid" describes the ogive design, a cross between a tangent and secant ogive profile. Meaning the area between the straight bearing surface where it tapers down to the meplat, or the hollow point tip.
