Go shoot some coyotes please.
-
Right before you start down the hill into Verde Valley.

I don't think there are any binos made with 99.9% light transmission. But here is the kicker. I can see more details due to the light gathering capabilities with my binos in the first or last 20 minutes of light than I can with my naked eyes.

I have the Euro 10x42s and the 15x56s. I got absolute smoking deals on both of mine, basically both pair for less than one pair of Swaros. I was fully prepared with cash in hand to buy the Swaro SLR HDs when I bought my 15s too. Last year I had hundreds of hours behind both pair. No eye fatigue after 10+ hours a day for 10 days straight on 3 separate hunts, glassing from 200 yards to 2+ miles. From January to December, I put them through their paces. Looking for game, scouting, range time, long range shooting and spotting, for work, etc. I would buy them again in a heartbeat. And I consider myself an optics snob with an addiction to clear glass, both for binos and scopes too.

Tell us about your elk rifle, and cartridge?
lancetkenyon replied to Stray Horse's topic in Elk Hunting
Looks like we will be getting to use my late father-in-law's rifle on a couple elk hunts this year. I am sure he will be smiling down on us while we are out in the woods with his granddaughter's packing it around the elk woods this year. It wears a different optic now. -
Taylor drew a 7W early cow tag. 3rd elk tag in 3 years. When she turns 21, we are off to Vegas.

This should sum up every hunter's view on coyotes.

Hope that bad boy passed on some genes! That is a brute and a testament to good breeding. Fantastic once in a lifetime deer. High fence or not, beautiful buck.

ANY safe can be broken into. A safe is truly a deterrent for the smash and grab type of burglaries. If someone wants in, the WILL get it. They just buy time for a response or make the thief make a decision if what is in it is worth the effort and time added to the chance of getting caught. Same as a lock on a front door. If someone want in, a window is usually right next to it. If we try to eliminate all threats of burglary, we would be spending $1 million on a security system, armed guards, dogs, etc. That is why I also carry an extra rider on my insurance to cover my guns.

Just a little tease from the Az Deer Association.......WINNER Posted
lancetkenyon replied to azelkhunter2's topic in The Campfire
I got to fondle this rifle yesterday....I think my wife actually got jealous. This rifle is truly a beautiful piece of equipment for the serious long range hunter. I think I will be buying some raffle tickets for it. I never thought I would need a .338 Edge.....now I KNOW I need this one! -
Way to stay after the set!

Sportsman's Warehouse. I had a coupon for 10% off any purchase over $1000, so it made it a no brainer.

I picked up a new Browning Pro-steel safe this weekend. 772# and "40 gun capacity". I thought I made a mistake after I got it to the house and realized it was about 1/2" too big to fit in the door......took off the door and the door stop and it slid right through.

I have seen almost all white elk, and one big bull that was charcoal grey.

Why does hornady load data seem so much lower charge weight?
lancetkenyon replied to apache12's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
A lot of variables. Different chambers, different pressures, different powder lots, different brass makes different case capacity, different seating depth, testing temps, testing elevation, etc. -
Great scope, good price. Just wish it was in MIL.

7mm Rem. Mag & 168gr Berger HVLD loads?
lancetkenyon replied to Hoss50's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
The Ruger M77 magazine is way shorter than n R700 magazine, so if you want a repeater, you have to stuff the bullets in deeper. I have a load that has worked lights out in 3 different Ruger M77 tang safety 7RM rifles. Winchester brass CCI 250 Mag primers 62.0 gr. RL22 168 Berger HVLD. Seated to .0100" shy of mag length. It is a big jump to lands, something like .250", but works great. Good speed, great accuracy in the 3 guns I have loaded for. I will see if I can dig up actual COAL and to ogive. -
Ok suckers...where is this treasure trove?

If your wife is anything like mine, it is gone for good. I call my wife "The Bermuda Wife". Compasses spin, and things go missing forever, never to be seen again. One day, I will find her "I put it in a safe spot" place, and I will again have thousands of items that have been lost over the last 24 years.

Rem 700 long action search
lancetkenyon replied to rnhunter's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I have done the pawnext shop route for actions before. I have also just picked up a cheap rifle from an individual as long as it has the right bolt face. Or a complete new action only. And even buying a Wally World ADL and sourcing bottom metal elsewhere. It should not be hard to find anew R700 action. Then piece together the rest to your liking. -
That Browning is very similar to the one on my short list. I read a lot of reviews, and Cannon is out. Terrible reviews, and terrible CS when they do.

My house drew one tag. I would lay odds it is my 13 year old daughter Taylor again. If so, it will either be a third in a row bull tag, or more likely, a general cow tag. My older daughter and son-in-law drew elk tags too, so I will be up with them as well. And my cousin drew back-to-back bull tags, so probably up with him too!

Pedometer? Or get a handheld GPS.

Picked up the rifle and reloading components from Brian today. Still owe him for the scope, but I will be starting load development on it very soon, like 3 hours ago. Look for new thread about it soon once I pick up the scope and start shooting.
