The painted one I have is a SA. This one is free if you trade me your wood stock for it. I just need a test stock for paint schemes.

I am pretty sure I have a Savage plastic take off stock too. I am around the I-17 & 101 area. You are more than welcome to it. I might even have one that is painted.

Great deal. But of I had to wait for shipping on it, I would go crazy! Since squirrel opens in a week.

So, squirrel season opens up in about a week and a half......so of course I need a new rifle..... Threaded for suppressor or brake Now I just need to figure out what scope to put on it......S&B? Kahles? Steiner? SWFA? Vortex Razor? With the integrated Picatinny rail, it would be easy to swap one of my high dollar scopes on and off of it. I actually am leaning towards this one though. SFP, but not sure I would need a FFP for a .22LR. http://swfa.com/SWFA-SS-3-15x42-Tactical-Rifle-Scope-P98738.aspx -

Lance we are just having fun with "your Sickness" ... It is an awesome setup you got there. After getting my son a 10/22 Takedown for Christmas, I decided next year I am going to get one for myself and am probably going to do the Barrel upgrade from Tactical Solutions... http://www.tacticalsol.com/x-ring-series-rifles/x-ring-takedown-rifle-with-the-warden-overmolded-stock -

I know. I am not offended in the least. I just am cranky because I have had it for almost 3 days and haven't shot it yet!!! Withdrawls suck. -

My B&C instructions stated 60-65 in/lbs with the full aluminum bedding block or pillars. 35-45 without the aluminum block. -

My $100 marlin 60/Tasco will put squirrels in the pot! So will my $80 Rem 514 with iron sights. And has many times in the past. But I bet you have upgraded and bought a lot of new high end guns too. -

I think you guys are missing a major point of this. Sure, my old 10/22 that I have had for 31 years is still a very accurate rifle with thousands upon thousands of rounds down the barrel. Sure, my old Remington single shot .22 with open sights that I got from my Great Grandma has put down a ton of lizards, rabbits, and squirrels. I would bet that unless you are relatively young, you don't still have your first car. You have upgraded, at least your daily driver. But.....I get MY 10/22 back now, and I got a new toy for my daughter to use! I get to spend more time in the field with my kids. What better excuses are there than that? It is no secret that I like my guns, and spend a lot of time behind them. Just another toy in my arsenal. Some people spend their money on alcohol, or cigarettes, or other recreational drugs, or makeup, or shoes, or clothes, or restoring cars. I spend mine on precious metals like stainless and brass and lead. -
6.5 creedmoor powder choice

Because my groups shrunk from the .5s to the low .2s with H4350. Lower ES and SD too. But slightly better speeds with H414. -
I had a big response typed out at work...then hit the "back" button and lost it all. Don't forget to budget for a high quality 20MOA Picatinny base, good rings, and an anti-cant level. In the neighborhood of $250-400. In a nutshell in no particular order: Vortex Razor Gen II 4.5-27x56 w. EBR-1c $2500 Steiner T5Xi 5-25x56 w. SCR $1999 March 2.5-24x52 $2508 Swarovski Z6 5-30x50 $2469 Kahles K624i Gen II 6-24x56 w. MSR $2399 Minox ZE5-I 5-25x56 $1869 Sightron SIII 6-24x50 $849 Nightforce Enhanced ATACR 5-25X56 $2399 Athlon Chronos 4.5-29x56 $1699 Sig Sauer Tango 6 5-30x56 $2499 A lot of these are FFP scopes, so miss that criteria. But all are great scopes that would serve you well. There are a few others that would top my list, but they top your budget too, by $300-5000 depending on model. Schmidt & Bender PMII Tangent Theta Premier Reticles (only used are available now) Hensoldt Kahles K624i Gen III (one of my two favorite scopes I own) Zeiss Victory DL Zeiss Victory V8 Swarovski X5/X5i US Optics Leupold Mark 8

This. But I know a couple guys who run H414 in theirs, which is pretty much identical to W760. I tried H414 in my 6.5 SLR at first too, before I could get my hands on H4350. It worked just fine. -
Clear silicone caulking works great too.

It will definitely put squirrels in the gumbo pot. I can guarantee that! -
That cactus buck would be very distinguishable. I hope they try to sell it and get busted. Good luck in the recovery. What taxi shop?

So help a brother out. How does it shoot? I can't get to the range until this weekend. -
Yeah, that hound is NOT skinny or underweight. He looks very healthy. Glad you got him back. I couldn't stand to lose one of my 4 legged baying family members.

Taylor and I talked about scopes, and she decided we should go light weight over tactical features. I went down today and looked at 10-12 different scopes. Fromy 2-7x33 to 2.5-10x44, 3-12x42, and the old standard 3-9x40. Vortex Diamondback HP 3-12x42 Vortex Diamondback HP 2-8x32 Vortex Viper HS 2.5-10x44 Leupold VX-2 3-9x33 & 3-9x40 Leupold Mark AR Mod 3-9x40 Leupold VX3i 3.5-10x40 Nikon M-223 3-12x42 Nikon Prostaff 5 2.5-10x42 Sig Sauer Whisky3 3-9x40 Zeiss Terra 3-9x40 A couple other ones too. I was looking for clarity at close distance, as well as 100+ yards. There were only 2 I found that could focus on an object as close as 30'. I was also quite a bit disappointed in optical clarity in the biggest name of the brands I tried in the $250-500 price range. The only 2 scopes that could focus close enough for my criteria on their lowest setting was: Vortex Diamondback HP 3-12x42 Zeiss Terra 3-9x40 the Zeiss got the nod for better optical clarity, and what seemed to me by feel, lighter weight. 14.8oz vs. 18oz. I have come to realize that buying top tier optics has really spoiled my taste in moderately priced scopes. The Zeiss was, by far, the best optically in the bunch. The list price is $399. It was on clearance for $299. When I got to the register, I got an additional 20% off, so I got it for $240. That made it the best optically clear scope, and the cheapest too. I can't wait to get out and shoot this new rifle this weekend. I will be using the good old cheap Remington HP, so accuracy will be what it is. Might as well use my hunting rounds to start with. I wonder if I could pull the lead bullet and seat some 40gr. Berger or V-max in there.... -
The questions we really need answers on to give good suggestions are as follows: Price Range? Probably the #1 requirement. Reticle preference? Do you like a duplex, or something you can use more easily to hold for elevation and wind holds? Usage? Hunting? Targets? Both? Preference on adjustments? Holdover? Dial? Dial elevation, hold windage? SFP or FFP? All preference based. Preferences on features? Glass quality Tracking Turrets Locking turrets Second rotation indicator Illuminated reticle Weight Eye box A few observations....from experience. If you say you will shoot to 800 max, be honest with yourself. You didn't build a custom .300RUM to shoot 800 yards max. That cartridge is fully capable of doubling+ that yardage for steel shooting. With practice, you will be too. While the Leupold VX-6 is a good scope. I used to think Leupold were top tier scopes. While they are a good scope, there are others that have surpassed them. But millions of shooters love them.

I will attest this gun is an MOA rifle with factory Hornady Precision Hunter ammo pushing the 162 ELD-X. Shot 1" groups at 100, and 1.8" @ 200. Rifle should improve with age too. Recoil seemed light to me with no brake. Gun also was lighter than I expected. Scope is nice and clear. Rifle is in perfect condition.
