There is a 15 year old lab in desperate need of a home on here. Maybe start with that for a year or two. My lab made it to 16.

Which photo should win Funniest Trail Camera Photo for the 2016-17 contest
lancetkenyon replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Contests and Giveaways!
Thank goodness the naked hiker picture was not taken one step earlier........more creepy than funny. They are all funny. I think the coyote is my favorite "funny" photo. I bet he was thinking, "Let's see if any deer come into the camera NOW!" The bear taking a dip in the tank is just freaking wicked awesome. And the bear stealing the target is awesome too. "No practice for you." The javelina shaking is a cool "bad hair" photo. (Thank goodness, again, the naked hiker photo was not a "bad hair day" photo). -

FS Weatherby Mark V Ultra Lightweight in .270 Win with Talley rings.

Take more photos. Closeups, every side, top, bottom, any wear or scratches, etc. It really helps them sell. One small far away picture is hardly telling on condition of rifle. -

Taylor and I shot on Sunday. Here is Taylor's target. You can see the bounce through from our neighbor. I thought she was going to kill him with the maddog look she gave him. Here is mine. -

I shot them all year long from my back patio. Nice having 600' behind the house to the back fence. -
What is recommended rings/bases for Vortex Viper 44mm on Rem 700 LA?
lancetkenyon replied to Viper's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
All of my rings that I currently have are a minimum of 4/4 screws per ring. Some are 6/4 sets, some are 6/6 sets. Is it necessary? Not sure, especially on a heavy rifle with a brake. Better to have and not need, than need and not have. With that being said, I ran 2 screw Leupold rings for years torqued to spec and never had a scope slip, even over heavy hitters like a .300RUM. -
Sold. Thanks buddy. Enjoy it.

What is recommended rings/bases for Vortex Viper 44mm on Rem 700 LA?
lancetkenyon replied to Viper's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I installed a DNZ mount for a guy on a rifle and mounted his scope. Scope was a Swarovski X5i. I believe the mount was a 30mm low? The turret Bell hit the mount cross bridge, so I called the customer. I had to mill the mount just a touch in the center to get the scope to set in the rings correctly. So just be aware of that possible issue. Other than that, they are nice. But mounting length is limited depending on length of tube on your scope. A Picatinny rail and rings give you a bit more flexibility for eye relief and moving a scope forward or backwards. Especially nice if your rifle gets used by other people. I move my scopes back one notch for my daughter on her hunts, and it has never changed zero. I have also had to mill down the top of a Picatinny rail for a turret housing to clear with low rings too, so don't think it is just the DNZ mount. With certain scopes, they have bigger turret housings, so they might barely touch the base. -

All of my bases and rings are alloy. There is quite a difference in weight. -
My son-in-law has to do a mount like this but with closed mouth for his because he only had 9' ceilings.

lancetkenyon replied to lancetkenyon's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
When we were out Sunday, I had one guy to the right bouncing pistol bullets through our targets, and then a guy on my left start shooting at our targets because he didn't put his own targets up. I was ready to punch someone after that. Luckily, the dummy shooting intentionally picked a different target we had up while checking zero on my 7RM. But both Taylor and I caught an obvious elongated large hole bounce through our targets. -
