I can check my Hornady book later, but if he looks at Barnes data for same weight bullet, that should get him close. Start low and work up as usual.

Still up. Had a few PMs.

6.5 (Creedmore - x284 - x06 - x55) Reloading Considerations
lancetkenyon replied to CouesPursuit's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Most of my rifles I currently own have never seen a factory round. As for virgin brass for a ladder test, unless you are doing an Ackley Improved version, or something that really needs minor fireforming in your chamber (like a PPC, or other wildcats), you can still start load development with virgin brass. Just finish the fine tuning with once fired brass. It has worked well for me in a lot of different rifles. If you are going through the trouble of necking down or fireforming, that really opens up the cartridge choices. .260AI 6.5 SLR 6.5 4S (GAP/RSAUM) 6.5 SS 6.5x55AI 6.5-06 6.5-06AI or other variations like 6.5-.270AI, 6.5-.280AI 6.5x47L And many, many others -
6.5-06 AI or .280 AI? What would YOU build?

Exactly. I wish Berger made a .257 130 HVLD. -

.260 Rem does everything a 6.5 Creedmoor will do as well. -
I would report it as stolen ASAP. That way, if it gets pawned, they might contact LEOs. Or if it gets sold, the buyer might be able to check it and report it.

Saw yours, more interested in a mag A 7 WSM (Winchester Short Mag) is the fat, short identical twin to a 7 Rem Mag. Ballistically the same thing. Same case capacity within a grain of water depending on brass head stamp (83.2 7RM vs. 83.0 7WSM), same speeds, same pressure, etc. Actually, a more efficient case design than the 7 Rem Mag.

Official "Target Fun Shoot" Thread
lancetkenyon replied to lancetkenyon's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I got all of the targets scored this weekend. I will post results and draw a winner early this week. Great shooting to everyone. Even on he lower scoring targets, not a game animal in AZ would have survived, except maybe just a few prairie dogs. -
.300WM Christensen Arms Load Development
lancetkenyon replied to lancetkenyon's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
So I got out early, and set up. I wanted to make sure I warmed up on another rifle. So I set up at 100, and broke out the 7 Rem Mag. Cold bore, cold shooter. 7RM pushing a 180 Hybrid at 2998fps. Dialed down .3 MIL from my 200 yard zero. Then I sent 3 down to verify on another target. Put down one of my best groups ever. If someone draws and elk tag this year, watch out. Moved back to 200 to send a few from the .300RUM. These are some lighter loads for shooting steel. 210 HVLD @ 2960fps. They shoot just a touch right compared to my hunting loads. Feeling really good about my shooting, I moved back up to 100 to foul the .300WM Christensen. Went from hero to zero in about 10 minutes. Shooting some of the factory loaded Winchester w. 185 HVLDs, my hopes and dreams were dashed against the rocks. The rounds varied in speeds from 2906 to 2980 across 5 shots. Not real conducive to accuracy. I was quite disappointed with a 2" group at 100 yards. Wondering what the HSM loads would do, after experiencing their potential in other rifles, boy was I in for a rude awakening. 5 shots at 100 yards were pathetic. And WAY too hot. 185 HVLD between 3120-3180fps. Signs of pressure, flattened and cratered primers, sticky bolt lift on 3 of the shots. A 4"+ 5 shot group at 100 yards! Don't mind the small holes, I was using previously shot targets to warm up. So with less than optimistic hopes, I moved back to 300 to shoot a ladder test with the 190 Berger HVLD hand loads. Now I used to shoot one, and walk up and mark after each shot. The new Meopta spotter sure helped save some boot leather. I took am photo of a fresh target, and can mark shots on my phone, then walk up and mark each shot n in order on the target. The rifle sure shows a lot more promise with the hand loads. Over 12 different charge weights, from speeds ranging from 2900 to almost 3100, I still shot a similar total group size at 300 than the factory HSM loads at 100. Crazy. I will be looking around shots 4/5/6/7. 2980-3040. So I went ahead and shot the 212 ELD-X ladder test while I was out there. I might try the higher loads, 8/9/10 with these. I think they were right around 3000-3030fps. -

Got out this morning and shot the rifle..... Conditions in the desert were about as perfect as you could ask for. 50°, very slight winds, from dead calm to 2.2mph per my Kestrel, almost directly in my face and overcast. -
Thanks bud. This would look really good on your .25-06.

I have one of their R700 SA bolts in my 6.5 SLR. Great product. That is my only experience with them.

I tried 10 in my .300RUM @ .100" jump with the same charge weight that works great with 190 HVLD, 175 SMK, 200 LRX, 210 SMK, 210 HVLD, 215 Hybrid with great results, and the 212 ELD-X was no beuno. -

Received 4 more targets in the mail. I think it was yesterday's mail though. After today, I will post scores and draw a winner from those targets returned. I will say, the target was very challenging, and I did not see a single shot that would have missed just about any large or small game out there, including prairie dogs. So scores do not necessarily reflect anything other than very near misses on tiny circles. Aim small, miss small. Great shooting to all who sent them back in. Round 2 is in the works.....or should I say round 200? -
I will state again, Duxngeez is good to go. I had my second transaction with him. Great guy, and his kids are killers too! I wish he would post a photo of his kid with her pig and rifle....hint hint.

Well this has a new barrel on it, so I hope I won't have those issues....great info though. I had heard nightmares about the earlier ones as well. -
Have a great one.

The Gempro 250 is great. A single kernel weighs about .02 grains. And it reads it. -

How was the headspacing between factory unfired and once fired brass before resizing? These are .0200"+ difference. That is a lot from other rifles I have worked on. -

Then primed them all with CCI 250 Mag primers I wanted to try some of the 212 ELD-X in the rifle too, so I loaded the Winchester brass up with those and worked up a ladder test set of rounds. Here is the seating depth with the 212 ELD-X touching the lands CBTO COAL My load data Starting charge weight Marking the primers to know what charge weight is what in case I dump them over (I did this once. It sucked) Top charge weight. It started to compress at this point, so I stopped for now My 212 ELD-X ladder test ready to shoot Powder for both will be the H1000 Load records My starting charge weight due to the significantly heavier brass content which equates to less case space and more pressure Ending charge weight due to a compressed load with the 190 HVLD at seating depth. Seating depth will be tested after a ladder test and charge weight testing. So I don't want too compressed of a load for when I start seating bullets deeper in the case. Ladder test ready to shoot I was hoping to go shoot the ladder tests, but the rain this weekend put a damper on that. Here is all the data accumulated so far on the loads. -
My brother was there today. Super slow. Snagged one single 6" striper in 8 hours. I bet weather had more to do with it than anything. Pray for warmer temps.
