    No longer for sale.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I drew a sppedgoat tag....again.....so that takes a lot of pressure off me to buy this. Bump for a smoking good rifle and cartridge.

    2017 is starting out great!!!

OP, how many BPs? Doesn't look like I drew a 7 speedgoat tag, and I am sitting on hella points. Always interesting to see how lucky some people can be. And how unlucky others are.

    Which tripod do you use?

I use a very similar setup. Manfrotto Carbon 290 with the same 700rc2 head. The quick change plates are great. I keep one on my 10s, 15s, and spotter.

    Night Hunting

I think I would want to be in a tree stand for that. I had a bobcat sneak up on me during the daylight hours and it just flat appeared like it rose up out of the ground. I couldn't imagine a lion sneaking in on me at night.....

    WTS Savage .300 Win Mag.

Pretty good price for a rifle that has a lot of potential. I shot one of these that put 3 rounds of 210 HVLD @ 2960 into a 2.5" group at 747 yards.

    Barnes Bullets - Seating Depth

Try it. Nothing says you have to have a certain jump. Your gun will have to tell you. I can say that the 6.5 127 LRX shows amazing accuracy in my .260 Rem and 6.5 SLR. Both easily sub-1/2" 5 shot groups. And they work very well on game. That bullet is what Taylor used on here deer last year at 637 yards. DRT.

    .300WM Christensen Arms Load Development

So too make a long story fairly short, I also shot my own charge weight testing loads. If you remember, the factory Winchester stuff shot about 2.5", and the factory HSM stuff shot over 4" groups at 100 yards. I can say my loads shot significantly better after finding a good node in my ladder test. Here were my charge weights I was testing. I also seated them with a .0100" jump this time. First group was just over 1", and it went down from there. 1", .8", .6", etc. Here were the last two groups before it started to open back up. This one is right at .6" for 3 shots And this one is about .3" for 3 shots So next is seating depth testing. I hope to at least remain as tight as this, and if it goes down, that will make me ecstatic. An 8.7# .300WM that shoots in the .3s? Yeah, that would do just fine.

Is a ladder test a waste at 200 yards?

300 minimum for me too. 400 shows nodes much better.

    Elk Draw Readiness Checklist

BS meter set on high for Thursday when people start the "my card got hit!" Check. Other than that, Greyghost85 is in the exact same boat as me. Except elk too. Haven't had an elk tag since 1999 either.

    223" Two Point

I can hear the lead up to the reveal now..... "Now, I just shot a forkie, but he is a pretty big forkie."

    7RUM Handloads

What don't you like about the LRAB? Is it an accuracy issue or terminal performance on game? Accuracy. Notorious for two in one out groups. If I recall correctly, Lance had issues with them too. Same results from a gun that loves 168 HVLD, 175 SGK (both in the .3-.4s), 180 Hybrid and 183 SMK (both in the .2-.3s, sometimes better). I couldn't get the 175 NABLR to shoot better than 1".

    Found Old Plane Crash

I found one south of Flagstaff area. North of Kelly Canyon Rd. To the east of I-17. A small Cessna type plane. Saw the two wings first, severe damage from tree impacts that steered them off. Found the fuselage about 150' further on the path. Pretty old. Reported it to Coconino Sherriff's Office with coordinates. Unfortunately, it was just me and my dogs, and no camera. Before I had a smart phone, maybe 10 years ago. It was an unreported site according to CCSO. No evidence of human remains that I could find. Long way from any dirt roads.

    .300WM Christensen Arms Load Development

After the ladder test, and shooting 3 of the factory HSM loads that were very inconsistent, inaccurate, and too hot, I pulled , he remaining 17 apart. I was kind of shocked at the results. Charge weights were off across the 17 rounds by over .5 grains.

    Cabelas euro binoculars

So here is the story on my 15x56 Euro HD. I went in to Cabela's with the expectation to buy the Swaros. Cash in hand. I already had the 10x42s, and was very happy with them, but still thought I wanted the Swaros for my new 15s. I took them both outside with tripods with a great sales lady at the glass counter. We sat and BSed for about 30 minutes, while I swapped behind the two binos. Looking at the stadium, buildings across the 101, etc. I was still torn because of the image quality of the Euros was so close, wondering if the Swaros were truly worth an extra $900. We went back inside, still undecided. Then, she started her sales pitch on the Euros. I picked a good day to go, because there was a 10% off Sale on the Euros, I opened a Cabela's credit card, saving an additional 20%, plus they gave me a $100 gift card, and gave me an additional 10% off at the register, and I got $110 in Cabela's points, which they let me use right then! I walked out paying less than $1100 for a brand new set of 15s. As cheap as I got my 10x42s for on sale!
