Meopta Meostar S2 20-70×82 here too. Freaking amazing optic. But no experience with the Meopro. If you can save a bit longer for the Meostar S2, you will not be disappointed. There was one of the Meopro 20-60×80 on here in the classifieds a while back. This was taken with my hand held cell phone from 1370+ yards through the S2. And this is 1560 yards with my hand held cell phone.

My cousin drew his 3rd year in a row late rifle bull tag this year. Just waiting to see what unit. My son-in-law drew his 2nd elk tag in only 2 years of applying, but I am laying odds it is his 2nd choice cow tag, not 1st choice bull. And someone drew a tag here too. I am also laying odds it is Taylor's 4th year in a row tag (bull/bull/cow), not my slump buster early rifle bull tag, even though I have a lot of points too, since I have not had an elk tag....THIS CENTURY!

2nd Official CWT 200 Yard Fun Shoot
lancetkenyon replied to lancetkenyon's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
OK, guess sign up is slowing down. Targets are in the mail to those who have already signed up. You should be receiving them early this week. Don't worry about leaving them folded for the cold bore shot. Just shoot that shot first after you post them up. Good luck everyone! I can honestly say, I thought I made the targets much easier than the 100 yards targets. I still think they are somewhat due to having a larger target for point of aim, but the smaller higher scoring rings are still a challenge. Easier to aim, but not as much as I thought. Taylor and I went out yesterday to shoot ours.....dang that kid can shoot. Yeah, she beat me. The back and forth trash talking was flying. It was neck and neck until we shot our 3 shot groups at the end. I pulled a shot, which is still a very respectable group at 1.23" @ 200, and Taylor ran away with it putting down a .683" 3 shot group. She smoked me. -

.308 Secret Sauce??? (Loading Question)
lancetkenyon replied to Stallone A.'s topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
168 & 175 SMK is what we loaded for my son-in-law's .308 over Varget, WW brass & BR-2 primers. I have used SMKs in various flavors for a lot of game. Never had one go far if I put the bullet in the boiler room. From .224 69gr, to .308 210gr. A bunch in between too. My longest kill ever was a .250AI pushing a 100 SMK on a coyote. 1327 yards. More luck than anything. -
So anyone draw an elk or antelope tag that wants a new composite stock for their R700 LA BDL?
-
Step 1: Drive to unit 1. Step 2: Open your eyes. Step 3: You found elk in unit 1.

I have found out over the last few hours.....I will be helping on up to 3 hunts this fall. Someone in my house drew a tag, my son-in-law and his buddy (my son-in-law is back to back), and my cousin (3 bull tags in a row) all drew.
-
All of ours still say pending and hunt #00000. But I got a $135 hit on my card, so I know ONE of us drew an elk tag.
-
Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I drew a sppedgoat tag....again.....so that takes a lot of pressure off me to buy this. Bump for a smoking good rifle and cartridge.
-
OP, how many BPs? Doesn't look like I drew a 7 speedgoat tag, and I am sitting on hella points. Always interesting to see how lucky some people can be. And how unlucky others are.

It is on. Got a hit about 45 minutes ago.

Just got a hit!!!

APA Fat Bastard or Badger Thruster.

I use a very similar setup. Manfrotto Carbon 290 with the same 700rc2 head. The quick change plates are great. I keep one on my 10s, 15s, and spotter.

I think I would want to be in a tree stand for that. I had a bobcat sneak up on me during the daylight hours and it just flat appeared like it rose up out of the ground. I couldn't imagine a lion sneaking in on me at night.....

I agree with this one. http://www.reptilesofaz.org/Snakes-Subpages/h-a-elegans.html

Pretty good price for a rifle that has a lot of potential. I shot one of these that put 3 rounds of 210 HVLD @ 2960 into a 2.5" group at 747 yards.

Barnes Bullets - Seating Depth
lancetkenyon replied to forepaw's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Try it. Nothing says you have to have a certain jump. Your gun will have to tell you. I can say that the 6.5 127 LRX shows amazing accuracy in my .260 Rem and 6.5 SLR. Both easily sub-1/2" 5 shot groups. And they work very well on game. That bullet is what Taylor used on here deer last year at 637 yards. DRT. -
.300WM Christensen Arms Load Development
lancetkenyon replied to lancetkenyon's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
So too make a long story fairly short, I also shot my own charge weight testing loads. If you remember, the factory Winchester stuff shot about 2.5", and the factory HSM stuff shot over 4" groups at 100 yards. I can say my loads shot significantly better after finding a good node in my ladder test. Here were my charge weights I was testing. I also seated them with a .0100" jump this time. First group was just over 1", and it went down from there. 1", .8", .6", etc. Here were the last two groups before it started to open back up. This one is right at .6" for 3 shots And this one is about .3" for 3 shots So next is seating depth testing. I hope to at least remain as tight as this, and if it goes down, that will make me ecstatic. An 8.7# .300WM that shoots in the .3s? Yeah, that would do just fine. -
Is a ladder test a waste at 200 yards?
lancetkenyon replied to apache12's topic in Long Range Shooting
300 minimum for me too. 400 shows nodes much better.
