    Looking for New Tires

I just took a full set off of my wife's 25th anniversary present I bought her. 265/70r17 on Toyota TRD 4Runner rims. 330 street miles on them. Dunlop AT20 Grandtrek. They seriously still have the tits on the tread. Rims, tires, caps, lug nuts $600. No TPMS sensors.

    6.5 Creedmoor for elk?

A 6.5 CM should work on elk if you put a properly constructed bullet where it needs to go. 6.5x55 have been killing moose and red stags for years. That being said, it would not be my personal choice for an elk round.

    Thanks Axisworks

    Me too!
  8. I would sight in for your CB shot. And the keep the following shot difference in mind if you need a follow up. You want 1st shot going where you want it.
  9. My finding have been very similar with the Nosler brass. Just as good of weight sorting as my Lapua brass. Plus, their prep work is very nice too. No need to uniform primer pockets or deburr the flash holes. I recently weight sorted 400 pieces of Remington .300RUM brass.....wow. If I remember correctly, approximately 12 grains of difference across the 400 pieces.
  10. Yup, Brown Santa left me a present this evening.

Chewing puppy/Making a better Dog Bed

    Two puppies means destruction x2...
  12. All but one of my scopes are in the 31-36oz range. It is not weight that would keep me from buying one of them. It is tracking, reliability (not meaning the best warranty, but hopefully one I will never need to use), repeatability, glass quality, and features.
  13. I have shot behind one of them, and SEVERAL different Swaros. X5, X5i, Z5, Z6, Z6i. I would give the glass nod to Swaro over the Sig I shot behind. Features were great however, better than the Swaros for my tastes, but glass goes to Swaro for my eyes.
  14. Looks like saw tooth marks to me, but no clue. All is well now, as Axisworks has me all trued up now.

    Barometric Pressure on Shooter App

DSE nailed it. I use actual barometric pressure readings from my 1600B &/or Kestrel.

    16 Gauge O/U w/3" Chamber

I have a Winchester model 12 that used to be my Grandpa's. It was not working when I got it. Tore it apart, cleaned it after probably 40 years of sitting, and took it out 2 years ago to try it out. 3 shots, 3 doves. It sits in my safe now. It is an early one, don't remember the year, but 90 years old or something like that.

    Hot weather coues shed

I know where there is a muley pick up rack that I have glasses up 4 or 5 times. But dang if I have ever had the desire to hike out and get it. Nasty, NASTY terrain to go get it about 2 miles away.
  21. Finally got around to scoring all the targets....dang we have some accurate .22s out there. I think the heat scared a lot of guys off, as I did not receive a lot of targets back. Final standings. I just lumped everyone together, so a few guys (and a gal) could make us all feel bad. (I can't believe there are any squirrels left in the woods with the accuracy of these .22s) Big Browns - 476 Mike S - 371 Taylor K - 333 Shooter McGavin - 283 Lancetkenyon - 251 My brother Dennis - 218 TAC - 217 Greg Adams - 176
  22. I hope more than 1500, but we might not ever see.

    twist rate question

.270 Win? .270 WSM? Wildcat? Berger states a 1:8" recommended twist rate. Which means the slowest shooting .270 can stabilize it at sea level. Faster or higher DA only increases stability. Colder temps will decrease somewhat as well as some other very minor environmental factors like humidity. I like the 5R barrels, but think the 1:7.5" twist is a bit better rate. If they are both from reputable makers, take your pick. I think cartridge choice would help make my decision too. Right now, I am leaning toward the 1:7.5 6 groove if it is a good barrel maker.
  24. Finally found some Nosler .280AI brass in stock! 100 pieces on their way! Should have them next week. What a relief.
