I forgot my bow this weekend!
-
Silent in 7E again this weekend.
-
My .300RUM likes the 210/215 over a stiff charge of H1000. The 230s prefer Retumbo.

Just got back. Saw very few bulls, but, saw quite a few cows this trip, which is good. Saw tons of deer, and a few decent bucks. Glassed about 11 hours over 50+ miles of hills.

Mature 6x6, would love 330" or better, or something non-typical/weird. Last day will be any mature bull.

Huge shot out to Eric at AxisworksAZ for building my 300 Win Mag
lancetkenyon replied to Adicted's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
He fluted my 6.5 SS barrel and bolt too. His machine work is second to none. I am anxiously awaiting shooting my .280AI he built for me next weekend. Which is a masterpiece in it's own right. -
I was up last weekend. Saw 6 different cameras. They are all going to have some funny pictures on them however....

Anyone have a hornady 10 reloading manual
lancetkenyon replied to sherman's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Yep, nothing in #10. -
Does it HAVE to be a Nosler bullet? So many other bullets I would look at for the .300RUM. And I would not even consider a bullet lighter than 180, but my personal tastes lean towards 210/215/230 offerings.

Buy with confidence. I got the pants today. Great shape.

Florence is on my list of "to-do" after my hunt this fall.

We will see. Someone beat me to the punch.

If I get a bull in 7E during my early rifle hunt, I will call in the mule train.... Have your pack ready to go!
-
dang you! I will take it. Just bought my older daughter a 6.5CM to put it on.

The "S" at the end denotes the swiveling model. Worth the extra coin. That model does attach to a sling swivel as well.

Attack pants now available in Major Brown, Phantom, Loden and Camel. Guide DCS jacket in Black/Phantom, Phantom, Major Brown, and ugly "Moss". Chinook Jacket added Caribou.

Hand-me-downs. Watch this site. Always people giving away kids camo, or selling for cheap.

Before you go to seating depth testing, I would do charge weight testing. 3 shot groups, in that range, but in .3 grain increments. Then do seating depth testing at .0400" increments to start.

If I remember correctly, the BDC lines are: 1.5, 4.5, 7.5, 11.5 MOA.

Don't forget to purchase your migratory bird stamp! Got a case of shells and a bird stamp today. Found out I have about 6-7 cases already in my gun cabinet....oops. -
7E was quiet this weekend.

Firing pin not striking primer hard enough to ignite
lancetkenyon replied to apache12's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Had the same issue with an R700. Decreased the firing pin, spring, and inside of bolt body. No oil, reassembled.....boom. same thing with a Ruger M77. Had another really old R700 that did the same thing, but wound up having to buy a new spring to make it work. I bought a Wolffe Blitzschnell and worked great afterwards. Yet another needed a spring and new firing pin. Start easy, then replace piece by piece. -

I have used the 6.5mm 127 LRX on a deer at 637 yards (Taylor last year), and it dropped immediately with a well placed shot. Also, a .308" 175 LRX on an elk @ 160 yards. Elk went 10 yards. I have a great load worked up with the 168 LRX for my 7RM too. Several other game animals with Barnes bullets. .257" 100 TTSX, .257" 100 TSX, ,277" 130 XBT & 150 XFB, 7mm 140 TSX.
