Definitely get at least double what you think you might EVER need. A 40 gun safe will comfortably and carefully hold 15-18. I have a Browning Pro Series safe (made in the USA). I like it a lot.

If they work for you, shoot them. It is not the on-game performance that led me away from them. Nor was it the inflated BC. It was strictly lack of accuracy. The NABs have always flown well for what I loaded them for.

I picked up a very lightly used R700 SA Stainless BDL in .300WSM. I have to figure out what to do with it as far as "inexpensive" optics, but I plan to start load development on it very soon. Going to work up 2 loads for it...hopefully. 1st: 168 SMK for medium game. 2nd: 190-215 bullet, not set in stone yet. I have a bunch to start with. 190 HVLD, 210 HVLD, 210 SMK, 212 ELD-X, 215 Hybrid.

Temps are supposed to drop right before the opener by 20-25°, slight chance of some moisture opening weekend depending on unit.

Retumbo is more stable than IMR7828SSC. H1000 is a good one to try with the 180-215 bullet weight range.

Just got back from some long range verification with the elk rifles....anything within 1200 yards is dying. 6.5SS pushing a 150 SMK @ 3157fps into a 2.7" 3 shot at 926 yards. (Backup or coyote rifle) .280AI pushing a 175 Berger Elite Hunter (velocity verification shows faster than I believe, but the drops don't lie) into a 3" 3 shot group @ 926. Verified drops at 545, 763, 926, 1201. (Going to try and get someone to dump a bull with this rifle) 7RM pushing a 180 Berger @ 2996, 2.5" 5 shot group @ 806, plus a bull taken @ 662 end of Sept. .300RUM pushing a 230 Hybrid at 3068, drops confirmed at 545, 763, 926, 1201, 1435, 1565. 3 shot group @ 1435 was ~5".

1:14" twist is going to limit you to the lighter bullets, 40-55gr. I used to sling the 52 SMK @ 3750 over Varget when I had mine after I found the load. Mine was very, very picky,and it took me years of tinkering to find the load it liked. It ways shot around MOA with 50gr. VMax, Nosler BT Varmint, Sierra Blitz King, Berger Varmint, 40gr misc, and 53 SMK. I tried IMR30301, H414, IMR4895, IMR4064, IMR4320. I would say mine was one of the rare ones that it liked 1 load.

The targets MUST STAY FOLDED as I send it until the first shot is fired at the center CBS circle. ***The first shot and ONLY THE FIRST SHOT is to be fired at the ring marked "CBS" -you will denote on the back of the target whether or not it was a true CBS* (see definition below). AFTER you shoot your CBS* you must walk out to the backstop and unfold the target. It will now have 3 holes in it from your first shot. - This will show that the second shot was not taken directly after the first because the target needed unfolded before firing the second shot. This also adds a bit of stress and makes you disturb our position ***PLEASE CIRCLE OR OTHERWISE MARK THE HOLES FROM THE CBS* SHOT NOW, the target is unfolded and still mounted at 50yds. Shoot the rest of the targets at your convenience. ***You can shoot your REQUIRED 3-SHOT GROUP* at any time, in any order after the target is opened up. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- REST/EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS: ALLOWED: Front Bipod/rucksack/sandbags/beanbags. A TRUE CBS IS NOT REQUIRED, BUT IS A BETTER TEST OF PERSONAL AND EQUIPMENT ABILITIES. *3-SHOT GROUP: --fire ONLY 3 shots at the diamond aiming point at any time after the target is unfolded ​On the back of your target, please write the rifle info, and round info, along with name and username. Mail them back to me after you are done. I will score them and post results. I had a few slight adjustments to this target, but here is the new one. We hung one at 50 yards off my back patio, and realized I needed to make a few changes.

My entire block (all of 7 houses) shoot bows in the back acreage. Every house except one have avid hunters living in them. Drive by not knowing, and you would think a herd of deer have taken up residence here.

PT&G bolt? I see a straight handle on it. Barrel contour and length? Built by? How does it shoot? Nice looking rifle. I have a Shilen Match trigger on my .280AI @ 1.5# and love it.

1:8" .300WM? If Berger ever comes out with a 250 Elite Hunter, this will spin them!

I sold all my NABLR bullets. Bought 700, sold 620ish. I have tried 6.5mm 142, 7mm 175, 7mm 168, .308 210. Some people love them. I could not get any of them to shoot to my personal requirements. I always had a flier that opened up a .4" to nearly a 1" group. For most people, I am sure a 1" group is plenty accurate.

Seems like this trip, 2nd shot was usually odd man out. Then I would buckle down and stack 3 on top of 1. Not always, or even usually the case. But I will take a sub-half inch group at 200 ANY day. All day. Every day. With a smile. I did not try RL26 in the .280AI. I am extremely pleased with the results I am getting with the RL23 under the 175s. Not going to start over with it shooting in the .2 MOA range consistently and getting almost 7RM speeds out of it. I am using RL26 in my 6.5SS pushing a 150 SMK though, and loving it too. It should work great in the .280AI. Let me know.

.280AI groups @ 200 later after the winds slowed down. I stand corrected on the group sizes above. .597", .547", .495", .447". I was remembering the wrong targets, those were from a different rifle's load development.

I say we all show up in our camo and order Domino's to be delivered and sit in our trucks out front.
