I too am interested in this topic. I will be hunting them for the first time as well this season. Do you guys call for bears all day or only in the mornings/evenings? I was wondering, cause I would have thought that they might be very motionless during the day,due to bedding down somewhere out of the heat.

Awesome! I am liking the sound of vortex more and more. I am pretty sure I am gonna just save up the extra couple hundred bucks and go with the viper hd's in 10x42, unless I found a used pair on thr classified that were a bigger magnification for around the same price.

I am selling one of my guitars. It is an ESP LTD KH-502. The guitar is a Kirk Hammett signature model. Great guitar in great condition. Comes with the hardshell case(has some cosmetic damage). Has brand new strings on it and an upgraded pickup on the bridge. Asking $500 OBO for it. I am also willing to trade. I am in the market for a pair of Vortex Viper binoculars. Definitely, going to pick up a lightweight tripod. Anybody have the diamondbacks by vortex? They seem pretty awesome. I like the vipers as well. Just want to know if it is really that big of a difference between the two.

I will be hunting coues with my 06 come this October. Also, will be hunting bear with it come the end of August. Gonna use 150's for coues and 180's for bear. Haven't killed anything with it yet, but it sounds like I have the right idea. I decided to buy the 06 last year because of the wide grain fluctuations. You can pretty much hunt any big game in north america with it. So, instead of having a gun for this and a gun for this, why not have just one trusty rifle?
