Holy moly!! -
Just ordered my new pack from Santana Outdoors! Eric was SUPER helpful and informative. Amazing customer service over there. We came to the conclusion that the eberlestock J34 would be the best for my build and what I needed the pack for. Got the pack in mossy oak brush with quite a few accessories to add onto it. Should be here Monday or Tuesday. Can't wait! Thanks for all of the replies on this thread! It is nice to have access to people that are way more experienced than I am with this stuff. :-)

The team elk looks really awesome. Seems a bit too small though for what I am after. Kind of bummed about that, haha.

Fantastic archery shop. I won't go anywhere else.

Sucks trying to find a place that isn't too far away to try these on. Been to cabelas and sportsmans. Both had the dragonfly. That is it though out of what I am interested in.
-
Yes, I was on their site last night. Very good deals on things. If I go with eberlestock or badlands, I will for sure be ordering from them.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!! I hear ya! Hunting season has only been over for 6 days and all I can think about is next season. That is why I am trying to prepare in the meantime. Sounds like we have the same issue. : P 553993_10151516819923639_1835638179_n.jpg Hahahaha!! Fantastic!

For the Eberlestock guys: Do you wish they had more pockets for better organization? Seems like they are great packs, but it also seems like stuff would be flying all over the place in there. Not any small compartments to keep some stuff separate. Does purchasing the waist belt accessories fix this issue? This is what is making me lean more towards badlands, tenzing, and outdoorsman. I love everything else about the eberlestocks though. The versatility of them seems incredible. Tried them on and they felt great. I still haven't gotten to try on the others yet though.

Awesome!! Big congrats!

Fantastic looking! -
Nice!! Welcome to the world of bear hunting! Either of your rifles will do just fine. I use a 30-06 with a 180 gr bullet. : )

That looks like one heck of a pack! Little high on the price for me, but will for sure keep it in mind if I am not finding anything that I like. Good for you man! :-)

So, what would be a good size cubic inch wise for, say a 5 day pack hunt with the ability to haul out meat/antlers? I don't own any backpacking equipment YET. I do plan on acquiring them though and will not do one of these pack hunts until I have those items.

Check out the Tenzing CF13. Pretty sweet looking pack. http://m.youtube.com/results?q=tenzing%20cf13&sm=1 The TZ 6000 looks awesome as well.
-
I think I now have it narrowed down to the OX, Dragonfly, and Outdoorsman. Still on the fence about the outdoorsman not being waterproof. I really like the warranty that badlands offers. Still need to look into a few other brands. Lets keep this going. Anyone have Tenzing?
-
The outdoorsman looks awesome. The only thing I am wondering about with it, is if it is waterproof. On the site, they sell a rainfly for the pack. This leads me to believe that it is not waterproof. Seems like it would be a pain in the butt having that rainfly on there and having to get in your pack. Love meateater by the way. :-)

Thanks for the replies everyone. Does anyone have the badlands ox? Looks like a killer pack.
-
Those outdoorsmans look pretty sweet! Are they waterproof? For you backpacking guys, how much space should I be shooting for here is these packs for backpack hunts? What is too small and what is too much cubic inch wise? The reason why the eberlestocks were so appealing to me is because of the adjustability of them when it comes to the size. You can start out with 2200 cubic in. and expand them out to 4-5000 cubic in. while being able to add on one of the spike camp duffles which would bring it to like 7-8000 cubic in. What is plenty when it comes to space?
