24A Sow on opener...sorry everyone..

Sweet man!! Congrats! Can't wait to hear about it! -
Anyone ever do this? I drew an Oct coues tag in 6a and really want to use my bow, but am wondering if I am just crazy for thinking so, haha. I know the area well and feel very confident hunting it with a rifle, but would way rather kill a buck with a bow. I know my chances are way slimmer with the bow. If I do decide to use my rifle, I was just gonna hold out for a nice solid buck. Your thoughts?

I LOVE the stripe action you've got going on! Be funny if you shot another striped bear this year! Good stuff!

I wanted to know what people's experience was with doing so. -

I have to agree with you. Good luck to you as well! -
Just wanted to know what everyone's opinion is on this, especially for elk. Is kinetic energy more important or arrow weight. Right now I am shooting a 396 grain arrow at 300 fps. I'm getting right at about 80 lbs of kinetic energy. I have been thinking about bumping up my arrow weight, but am wondering if I even need to. 80 lbs sounds like a lot, but my arrow weight seems a bit light when compared to others. Shooting a 100 grain COC grave digger.

IF I did do anything to my setup, that is the exact arrow that I was planning on moving to. The FMJ 11.4 gpi. What is the rest of your bow set up look like? Poundage, speed, arrow length?

Sorry, for crapping in your chicken soup, hahaha! Just wanted to know what folks thought about it.
-
Yes, I am. Just made me wonder, cause I hear most people using around 500 grains for elk.

Wear a little bit of blaze orange. Definitely planning on it, whether I use a bow or not. -

Yeah, I wouldn't be opposed to shooting a smaller buck with my bow. If I use my rifle, I will probably hold out for a nice one. -

Great idea. The area I am in has some pretty rugged spots that aren't favorable for stalking. -

Because Cameron Hanes is really popular on social media and some other popular hunters on Instagram also do this. I think you can get more "likes" on your pics if you use a bow or something like thatYou are 100% correct. Screw it, go run the 200 mile race if one REALLY wanted to be like CH. OR, here's a thought......Maybe, I just like bowhunting. I usually put in for this general tag every year out of tradition with my family. It gives me a chance to get out and hunt with my dad and brother together. My dad is a rifleman and I love to bowhunt. I'm not closed off to rifle hunting at all. Going on a rifle bear hunt here shortly. I merely prefer one over the other. I just had the thought of toting my bow instead of my rifle. It has nothing to do with Cameron Hanes or getting likes on Instagram. Its a joke dude. Cameron is a bad mofo. He's got Drive, willpower, and tenacity in his pinky toe that I have in my entire body!No worries. Just thought I would clear the air on my reasoning, because I think there are indeed people out there that think like that. I've been known to crack a Cam joke here and there, lol. Good luck to you. -

That right there is probably what will keep me from doing it. Lots of trigger happy hunters out there. -
