Kuiu, Sitka, First Lite, Kryptek etc.

I personally run with all first lite gear. So far, I love it. I have the Alleghany base layer bottoms, Kanab pants, Llano top, Chama Hoody over that, and Uncompahgre Puffy over that. I also wear tthir merino gloves, brimmed beanie, and balaclava. All in Max-1. I have worn this stuff for a week straight and it still doesn't smell. You can't beat the comfort that comes with this stuff. Yeah, it is expensive, but in my eyes it is just another piece of gear. We spend all this money on our packs and our weapons. Why not our clothing that we are going to wear everyday? So far the first lite stuff has held up well. I thought I would have ripped them by now. I got most of this stuff back in August. Between then and now I have been out a whole lot whether it was scouting or hunting. That being said if I wasn't wearing first lite I would DEFINITELY be wearing Kuiu gear.

    Best time to start

The AZ Game and Fish website is a great starting point for area to look. I don't think anyone is going to disclose areas with bears openly. Bear hunting is VERY hard, so don't get discouraged if you aren't seeing them. They can be extremely difficult to find. I would learn as much as you can about bears in AZ. Find out what their favorite food sources are and what sign they leave in the woods. Usually, if you find the food, you will find the bears, if you put your time in. I hunted bears for the first time in 2013. I saw one bear the whole season and almost killed it. In 2014 I saw 4 bears and WAY more bear sign. Also had quite a bit of bears on trail cameras. This is because I just knew more about bears than I did my first year. Put the time in learning about bears and bear behavior. That will help out a ton. It is never too early to start looking around. People get trail camera pics of bears year round. They really start moving though when it starts to get hot. First bear I saw last year was on June 1st. I hope this helps out. Good luck to you this year.

    Getting Closer

Keep it up man. Try and learn as much as you can from your mistakes. That goes a long way. If you aren't messing up, you aren't trying. I got bit by the bowhunting bug about 2 years ago. I just now had the 1st ever opportunity at even drawing my bow back. I have missed 7 times in the past few weeks, hahahaha. I learned something from every one of those misses and man was it frustrating. Good luck to ya and don't give up!

    Jumping the string?

Been out the past few days pig hunting with my bow. Have not killed anything with my bow yet. Still looking for that first archery kill. I have missed 2 shots on javis yesterday and today. 30 yards and 45 yards. At the range I am accurate out to 70. My arrow flew over both of their backs! Went back to the truck to make sure my sight wasn't messed up. Nope. Right in the bull. Do javis jump the string sometimes? Maybe, I should be aiming a bit low for a heart shot instead to compensate for the string jump. Should my effective range for javis be smaller than my effective range for say deer or elk? Oh, the joys of learning bowhunting, hahaha.
