HAVE U EVER HAD A CAM STOLEN
4Falls replied to FOGGER's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Oh God.... if someone stole something of mine and left a cutesy little note like that I'd explode. Talk about insult to injury. -
As a matter of fact... I've done just that. I had a stand up once and as I was coming in I noticed a guy sitting just below it in a au natural ground blind he must have just built. I simply just backed out. Pretty sure he killed a cow elk off there that nite.

Good looking mounts Gino. Clay is the best. Heck of a trophy room you got there.

Like I said in a different post it has to be other "hunters" stealing the cameras. What the heck is some one else gonna do with the camera, cept for maybe sell it. Doubt a pawn shop would give you much. Ebay? Most likely a non hunter would either sabotage the camera throw it into the bushes. Sadly evidence points to other hunters. Not only does he get a camera out of the deal, he now knows what you know and maybe more. Once i thought I'd had a treestand stolen in unit 7. But found it once the waterhole went dry. Wonder how many cams are in the drink?

A few years back before the archery elk hunt in 22 i was out checking some of my favorite tanks. This is summer time mind you and the hunt is not until november. Anyway at the first tank i get to is a treestand maybe 8 feet of the ground with a sign in it sayin that Fred and Barney (cant remember their real names) will be hunting this tank on the november archery hunt. No biggie i thought. Well after going to 8 different tanks and finding the same style homemade treestand and the same note tagged to it i started getting a little perturbed. Theres only two guys hunting 8 stands? So what were the rest of us to do? Wait for opening day so we could see where these guys would LET us hunt?

This is the stuff that keeps me from jumpin on the camera bandwagon. The really shi77y part is that I would bet most of these get stolen by other "hunters". I doubt most non hunters would think to look or even notice a cam, unless it was painfully obvious. Theres probably some cameras that have been stolen more than once. No matter what u do to identify them someones going to take it just to be vindictave cause you put it in their spot. Same thing happens with treestands, blinds etc. It sucks cause we all work really hard for our stuff... theives are the worst.

Az Pheasants
4Falls replied to AZcoyotehunter's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Back in the day you used to be able to hunt pheasants here in Chino Valley. Back when it was mostly farms. Those birds are long gone. However the other day while scouting for my antelope hunt I flushed one out of a juniper. Kinda interesting. Probably just someones pet who got away but it was still pretty cool to see. -
Snapshot, Finally someone got to the root of Redbeards argument. He was not denegrading any one. He was merely trying to bring up a discussion about ethics. Funny how these topics always morph into a finger-pointing name calling thread. We all have our own set of ethics. Heated box blinds and 500 acre food plots are completely foriegn concepts to most western big game hunters but perfectly normal to a guy from Michigan or wherever. Redbeard pointed out that the major record keeping clubs had a set of "guidelines" as to what they consider fair chase. Some one else may have a different idea. Heck what about road hunters (illegal by the way) and still it happens all the time. Those guys have no problem with it and they arent any less happy if they shoot a big bull or buck right from the window of the old Chevy. Look whats happening in the news this week. Scientists developing cloaking devices. We cant even imagine the technology our grandkids will have. Just think how if money was no object the technology you could employ to help you kill a deer. Thanks Redbeard for the great discussion.

Vice President Choices
4Falls replied to GodIsGood's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Saw on the news this morning where Maverick is going to pick a pro-choice running mate. Makes me think he doesnt even want to be president. -
Jack, if thats the buck I think it is... theres a rumor around that he was poached. Havent seen him in quite a while. referring to the buck in the first pictures.

Vice President Choices
4Falls replied to GodIsGood's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Doesnt matter who Obama picks. Could be Hillary could be Larry the Cable Guy. The media will herald it as the wisest and most creative pick in American history. McCain could resurect Ronald Reagan and he still wont get elected. I think the polls showing McCain as close as he is are a sham just to make sure all the Obama kool-aid drinkers get out and vote. This is the saddest presidential election of my lifetime. -
Around where im at the bucks are starting to herd up and can even be seen running the poor does around. Watched a pair this morning making dusty figure 8's for about 15-20 mins. Then just like that the stopped in their tracks and started eating.
-
I find them quite often. They dont last long in the field since there made of hair instead of the more bone like structure of antlers. Cool tho post a pic.
-
Very well made (duh there made by Hoyt) True about the strings tho but thats an easy fix. Great starter bow.
-
Ive been wondering how they were to eat, thanks for the info everyone. I guess its time to break out the pellet gun here at the house. Population has increased about 10 fold since last year here in Paulden/Chino Valley. Time to start getting reimbursed for all the hen scratch they've eaten.
