Thanks for the heads up. I just checked and everything is working. Maybe we'll have some results before Thanksgiving?

Sitting here watching the snow come down and just for fun thought I'd check my bonus points on the g&f website enter my birthdate and dept ID.... it tells me the ID is invalid. So I reenter, same thing. So I do it again, and again... same result.. So I call them on the phone and check my bonus point and everything is just like it should be got right in. So now Im worried. I have my receipts that showed I applied. All my info was already entered when I originally began the on-line app process. I checked it all but maybe there was a number out of place or something and I didnt catch it... oh no. Anyone else have similar issues?

Well here we are just a day or two from the javi/turk results and still the website wont allow me to access my account it still says the dept ID is invalid. This can't be good.

I'll top Lance and go $101.

Due to work commitments the October Coues deer season came to an end a little early for me. We hiked and glassed our butts off but weren't able to connect on a buck. Lots of deer were seen, even a couple decent bucks, but thats how it goes. A couple of highlights were the two Rocky sheep I glassed up on Saturday morning and the lion skull that Skeeter found on Wednesday morning. Loved being back in 6a again and especially hunting with my great friend. Any other 6a guys who had some luck? I heard the shooting, someone had to have killed one.

Ive used a few of the various elastic trap types recently I purchased on of these- http://ranchosafari.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=7 from Rancho Safari. Ive been using this guys pack and other stuff for close to a decade and the quality is excellent and their all American made.

Coconino National Forest Travel Management Plan
4Falls replied to Red Rabbit's topic in The Campfire
I hate quads – I run them over with my rock crawler Jeep every chance I get! QUAD RIDERS $UCK! Good to know. Next time I come across a broken down rock crawler Ill be sure to smile and wave as I go on down the trail. -
Coconino National Forest Travel Management Plan
4Falls replied to Red Rabbit's topic in The Campfire
They keep just pushing us further and further into one spot. The ultimate goal is to keep recreational users of the forest lands completely. Its all a part of their myoptic view of preservation. None of this means anything anyway it only changes the the actions of a few. Back in the 80's they closed all the roads into what is now the mazatzal wilderness, now theres more quad roads into there then you can shake a stick at. Look at whats happening in Fossil Creek? When APS had a presence down there things were much cleaner and better. Now its a bacterial playground, mostly due in part to the earth loving hippies who now frequent the area. So now theirs a constant presence of FS cops chasing every kid with a fishing pole. -
Yeah on the powerline road. We werent with those other guys. We were camped right at the Mud Springs Draw crossing. You guys said you were headed to the bottom then we saw you all again as you were coming back up i assume.

Coconino National Forest Travel Management Plan
4Falls replied to Red Rabbit's topic in The Campfire
Jeez, I really, really hate all this regulation. At least they give a guy 300' feet to get off the road and camp unlike Kiabab/Williams who gives you a whopping 30 feet. Wish there maps were a little more detailed. I know a few of these roads that are not signed that well and one of them that the map says is open has a sign on it saying its closed to vehicular traffic. Of course you can only see that sign when youre on your way back out the road. Anyone know when Tonto's travel management plan is due out? That one should be really interesting. Does anyone know of anyone who's been cited for a violaition yet? I spoke to the Williams office just prior to the archery deer season and he told me they would be getting more proactive on enforcing the new rules this fall. This guy was so excited about the new travel management plan for he Kiabab forest, it actually felt like he was expecting me to thank him personally for saving the forest. -
"I have my dad's old. 35 lever action. It usually sits in the safe but once in a while I take it out to shoot. It kicks like a. 300mag and has the trajectory of a pumpkin catapult."

DB, I think we talked for a minute or so on Monday or Tuesday. My buddy and I had just hiked up out of the canyon and were standing at out quads. Congrats on going four for four. No easy task.

Just wondering if any of you had any knowledge of the new shafts from Easton. Specifically the Injexion. Just saw them this morning on their site. Thanks

One of the coolest fricken mounts I've ever seen!

Congratulations db. We talked to a few guys during the hunt and most weren't seeing any deer at all so we counted ourselves lucky to see as many as we did. We missed one and another just refused to give me a good shot.

During my recent coues hunt my mind wandered to thoughts of a new rifle. Im thinking about a 270wsm with a custom barrel, trigger, stock etc. Was wondering if you all had any suggestions? Or do you you think it would be worth it to throw some money at the .25-'06 Ruger, Ive been packing around for years. (Kinda heavy, would like better accuracy etc)

cool buck, cool looking rifle too.

I cant wait. It's been a while since I had a rifle Coues tag. My best friend (aka Skeeter in this forum) and I are headed over to 6a for the early hunt in about a week and a half. Gonna be great to hunt with my bud again and revisit some old hunting grounds. If any other CWT members are in the area it'd be great to meet you. Best of luck to everyone.

tick.tock. tick. tock.... why is the effen clock moving so slow.

Guess the cow hunt is on now. Then theres a bull hunt on at the same time as the deer hunt. Doubt Ill see many elk hunters where I want to go though.
-
Meeting "Skeeter" in the morning somewhere in 6a. Little more scouting to do. Just realized theres going to be elk hunters in there at the same time.

wolves on the Strip and the Kaibab
4Falls replied to bonuspointjohn's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
+1 for everything Lark has said. I can even remember language from USFWS (or some other gov't agency) stating that if the wolf program goes like they want it to they wont need hunting as a management tool anymore. -
I had a very large rooster a couple of years ago that saved most of my hens, short of one, from a pair coyotes. He unfortunatley succumed to the injuries he incurred a couple of days later. That was one tough rooster though.

If you see a the white Dodge from the CWT home page (Skeeter's) and a crappy white Ford (mine) both with cwt.com stickers that'd be us. Picked up a lion tag today. Made an emergency run to Cabelas yesterday. Pretty much just need some grub and Im good to go. Cant leave till after work Thursday afternoon but plan to stay the whole hunt.
