As I stated earlier in the thread, Ive never shot anything off of bait. Mainly because I dont have the time to maintain a bait site. Ive hunted and killed over water which I guess is the same thing. Though Im starting to get confused on that too. But what I really dont understand, and I mean no disrespect by this, is why the the guys who dont like baiting are so against those that do? If your out there stalking your game one on one and enjoying it who cares if some other guy is sitting on a pile of corn? Wouldn't that be just one less guy out there potentially blowing your stalk?

Well the POS camera thieves found my camera. They got the camera, the homemade steel box, the chain, the cable and both locks. Thankfully they left my old worn out bungee cord. Thanks guys! I was actually going in to retrieve the camera cause I wanted to put it somewhere else. So I guess they were just helping me out. Sad part it they are most likely local to my area and it looks like a grown man and kid. Judging from the foot prints near by. Then today I got two flat tires. Awesome Weekend!!!!!

So I guess the only way to be a true ethical sportsman is to do things the hardest way possible.

I havent shot anything off of bait but only because I dont have the time to maintain such a thing. For those of you that do I think its awesome. So today we lose the baiting thing. Then cameras are next (which I do use, when they aren't being stolen). Then something else and something else. This is only an ethics issue amongst us hunters. The reason the govt agencies want it gone is a slow creep towards ending ALL hunting. The NF agencies and our own G&F are chock full of anti-hunters. We need to stick together.

I locked the heck out of that thing. Probably had more invested in the locks, box, chains, cables etc. than I did in the camera. And I had my last name written all over the thing with silver sharpie. So if you figure gas (they probably went in there twice, once to find camera and once to go back with proper tools to steal camera), time and spray paint to repaint my grafittied up camera. They could have just saved money and went to WalMart and bought a brand new one. I still have another camera out but I think I wont be purchasing anymore and I'll just go back to the way we used to do it in the olden days.

Wow 37! Time sure does fly. Pretty sure when I first met you you could count all your birthdays on one hand. Have a great day. - Jeff Falls

I was in the passenger seat of my buddies with a trailer load of llamas on our way to pack out his daughters bull. You were on a four wheeler going the other way.

With all the recent travel restrictions on OUR national forests its occured to me that a game cart of some sort will be beneficial to my up coming late archery hunt. Does anyone have any experience with these? any they would recommend?

Thanks for the good advice. Ive been looking at them online and they all seem a little too light duty for Arizona.

I think those critters are one of the coolest animals on the planet. Someday I hope to tag one myself, congratulations to you daughter.

in my opinion that any branch antlered bull on a late archery hunt is a trophy. I've had a few late archery bull hunts in my life and have yet to connect on a bull. Hopefully that will change this year we will see. Congrats AZbowhuntr that is a great bull during any season much less a late archery hunt.

Travel management - what are YOU going to do?
4Falls replied to mtn-memories's topic in The Campfire
I said Id comply with the regs just because Im that guy who always gets caught. And Id rather spend my time hunting or doing whatever Im doing then wasting it with some over achiever from a gov't agency. I saw forest service a few times this summer when I was out. Had a buddy questioned and accused of driving on closed roads because his truck fit the description of one that was reported doing so (his truck was white). This was all in Kiabab NF. Im a tent camper so I guess Im free to camp as far from the road as I can pack my wall tent. Ill just have to leave my pick-up in the bar ditch to get pelted with rocks and dust. -
So after giving in to the urging of my peers and the hype on TV. I thought Id try some Rage expandables this year. Bought two packs 6 total heads. Only four of them are worthy of being sent down field at anything other than a Jackrabbit. The other two have so much wobble in them that I doubt they'd even hit where I'm aiming. None of my buddies have ever had any issues like this. So I'm wondering... is this the type of quality I can expect from Rage or did i just buy the only two packs that quality control missed?

A good start is quite an understatement! Looks like an amazing start to me, and much more to come. You are very blessed. Good luck with the rest of the season.

My first thought was the insert as well (since I did them myself ) but the two heads in question were bad no matter what shaft i put them in. Im going to take bonecollectors advice and give them a call today, who knows i might get lucky.

I have a late archery hunt this year and can say without hesitation that any elk whose even thought about growing antlers will be on my hit list. As for a late rifle hunt well... for myself it would be difficult to pass up any branch antlered bull.

Travel management - what are YOU going to do?
4Falls replied to mtn-memories's topic in The Campfire
I too will continue to comply, as I have all summer long. Leaving my boot tracks on top of the quad tracks and truck tracks from the day before. I HATE the new travel management plans but I just know that ONE time I bend the rules a bit the forest cops will be right there. -
Thats a lonnnnnng ride on a Rancher with those brow tines poking you in the kidneys the whole way

Unfortunatly this is the hunting world we live in now. I have to admit I worry about my trail cams all the time and I lock up everything I possibly can when I leave camp. Seems like a rare thing anymore when you can even get another hunter to wave when you pass by their camp. Ive been complaining about this for a long time but it just seems to be getting worse.

Ive been patiently waiting for the new site... and it was well worth it. Amanda, its no accident that CWT is the best hunting related website out there.

Theres been much discussion on this topic already. Kaibab and Prescott NF's have had there travel restriction plans out for sometime. I believe Coconino just rolled theirs out this spring. Kiabab has been posting roads and even put up large signs saying that there is a travel mngmet plan in place and to refer to the map. I believe Prescott has done the same however most of the places i travel in the Prescott NF have remained open. This whole thing frustrates the he77 out of me, and it really only hurts those of us who abide the plan anyway. From my first hand accounts it has done very little to stop the road use in Kaibab NF around Williams. Even roads with obvious road closed signs on them are still being well traveled. I'm betting WalMart is going to sell a heck of alot of moountain bikes this fall! haaaaaa

Things your huntin buddies do that drive you nuts : )
4Falls replied to twigsnapper's topic in The Campfire
I have two buddies that I hunt with and both are WAAAYYY better hunters/outdoorsmen than me can't say that anything they do really annoys me. I count my self lucky just to get to tag along with them. One of them is not on this site so thankfully you all wont have to read his list of the things that I do that annoy him. On the other hand Skeeter IS here and when he sees this thread I'm sure he'll get carpal tunnel syndrome before he fihishes his list of annoyances.
