Great off season topic. I have the atv... 2000 model thats been to heck and back. Runs good and covers country fast. I hunt solo so theres no need sor extra seats but still somtimes wish i had the side x side just for the ability to carry a little more gear or a bigger ice chest. A shortbed Toyota would be a great way to go too... I understand the dilemma.

Its been a few years since I've applied in NM. (I know the deadline is tomorrow at 4 AZ time) Last time we applied for a voucher then purchased our licenses once we arrived in the state. I see now you need to purchase a Hunting License prior to applying, but is it still the same as far as the vouchers go? I tried calling and talking to someone but got tired of holding. Thanks

Why make it so confusing. Why not just say no trail cams. Period. Oh, and by the way. No cell phones, GPS's, Tablets, Google Glasses, Computers or even satellite imagery obtained from a third party if you hunt, plan on hunting or would someday like to go hunting. (sarcasm)

Unit 8 was a struggle for me, again. Just cant figure how a unit with so many elk can seem so devoid of them at times.

Thanks everyone. Got to say it was a perfect storm of sorts for calling bears this year in this area. The ground was carpeted with acorns and this canyon had everything else a bear needed. Never have i seen a place with so much sign. I have to give the all the credit to my friend Chris for finding this canyon years ago and graciously taking me in there.

I did a top for the kitchen island using reclaimed wood just recently and filled the cracks with Rock Hard. Rock hard does not take stain well though. In my case it was being stained white and then sealed so it didn't matter.

I would like to make some jerky from the bear I just harvested. I know when cooking the meat I need to get to 145 degrees, obviously, in my dehydrator its not going to get that hot. What say you? Also, does anyone have any jerky recipes to share?
