Jim Beam BBQ #1 for sure. Bigs Buffalo Wing #2.

+1 I love watching them fly perfect out of my bow. They are strong as nails and more than plenty sharp. I will be shooting them at a bull elk this September...

Maybe the coolest looking bow ever... The new Mathews z7 extreme tactical

What a great video. thanks for sharing. I think it is amazing how fast they can react. I think there are only two things you could have done different that would have led to a different outcome. Both are pretty obvious I guess...aim lower, or shoot a faster arrow. I have had similar things happen and it is a sinking feeling. Thats why archery hunting is so much fun.

Here are a few pics of Turkeys I have been lucky enough to get... these were over water in a canyon in the summer.

I think the game and fish department has created a problem, or situation maybe is a better term, that is turning some hunters off. I have friends that no longer have any desire to go hunting after having a bad experience fighting the incredible crowd that exists in the woods each fall. If you apply for a good rifle bull tag, in lets say unit 6A, you will be surrounded by 900 other bull tag holders. This year a unit 6a archery bull tag holder will see that number cut down to only 595. To me, those numbers are way too high. It may take a person 10 years to draw a bull tag, and then their hunt is not good because everywhere they go they run into other hunters. Maybe I am wrong, but it seems the game department has gone way overboard trading quantity for quality, and that is driving some people away. Of course on the flipside, the more tags they give out, the more frequently a hunter gets to go. Darren

If Santa somehow forgets to leave one under the tree for me this year, I may send you a PM. Would like to see pics if you get the chance. Darren

I would say that the disable veterans hunt should start somewhere around Sept. 15th. They should be able to use a bow, crossbow, muzzleloader, rifle, machine gun, hand grenades....whatever they want. I had a buddy that had a cow tag during a muzzy hunt up there last week, got hosed just like you...too bad. Hopefully they will get the right person in charge of the hunts soon.

I have a Shopsmith Mark V that I am selling. It works great and is in overall good condition. It has the 10” table saw with rip fence and miter gauge with safety grip. I also have a Shopsmith vacuum/dust collection unit. It attaches to the machine with a hose and collects sawdust, and it also works great. There is some rust on a few of the attachment pieces, but no rust at all on the Shopsmith itself. I am selling simply because I do not have room for it. Asking $550 obo. Here is a link to their website showing how it can be used. Shopsmith.com Accessories included: 3 ¾ “ Lathe faceplate Lathe tailstock and eccentric mount Shopsmith 4 piece safety kit with push sticks 12” steel sanding disk (some rust) Jacob’s drill chuck and key Several new drill bits Lathe cup and spur center tools Extension table with tubes A 2nd extension table Lathe tool rest 5 Shopsmith brand lathe tools Upper saw safety guard Solid steel couplers Allen wrench set Owners manual I can email pictures to anyone that is interested.

Not that this bull is all that great, but I hate having elk invade my Coues deer area. Elk are taking over too much territory and I would love someone to shoot this bull....and all the cows too for that matter. Here is another bull in the area. Here are a few deer of late.

David, glad to see you had a great hunt. Elk hunting can sure be a lot of work, and it is hard to sit all those hours, but it paid off. Congrats. Sure making me jealous, wishing I had a tag. Darren

Not seeing what you are seeing it is tough to say, but I would not hesitate to think the bull could still be on its feet. I have seen some amazing things the last few years with bulls. They are SO tough and strong and capable of surviving more than you think. Either way, I hope you get a real close look at him soon. Stay positive and work as hard as you can till you exhaust your options...then go back to hunting. Sometimes they get lost.

Good work Stone. Wondered when I would get to see your bull. Funny thing is my boy's bday is the 25th...same day as my first day of my bull hunt last year. Bad family planning on our part I suppose. D

These sorts of situations is exactly why I carry blue star luminol in my hunting pack along with a spray bottle. luminol for sale on amazon Good luck finding your bull. hope you get him.

Jim, I don't know a lot of guides, just a few, and I don't know you personally. But guide or not, you must be one of the nicest guys around. When I see how you respond to posts from hunters looking for help or looking for information, it is amazing to me how you are so willing to help. As a very successful, dedicated, hard working guide, your humility is appreciated. In that sense, I don't think you are a typical guide. Or for that matter, a typical human being. Even though I may or may not ever need (or be able to afford on a teacher's salary) your guide service, I hope I bump into you some day out in the woods just so I can say hello. twoguns

Jed, I have been out numerous times in the verde valley unit. no luck yet. i know there must be some around, but it is the hardest hunting just about ever. there are very few of them, but I will be out looking this next week and have my fingers crossed. I think several guys have had some luck up around winslow, but I have never been up there. Also, the hunt is only open for another week and a half, then not open again till december i think.

I can't wait to have the same experience with my son...thanks for the story and pics. Great buck.
