Any More Cool Trail Cam Pics
TwoGuns replied to GameHauler's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
That stinks. I've had that happen to me twice. Makes ya want to rig up a fake cam with skunk scent inside. Open lid, get sprayed in face! That sounds like a great idea. course i would end up like Kramer and spray myself in the face on accident... -
Any More Cool Trail Cam Pics
TwoGuns replied to GameHauler's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Well, only one pic to share....the tree where my camera used to be..... went to check my trail cam today, and it was gone. Too bad for me. If any of you found a trail cam with pics of monster bulls or deer on it, it is mine. Very disapointed. -
I think she should be fine shooting the setup you described. I have several elk hunting videos with guys shooting stick and string bows with wood arrows and they have good success, and I cant imagine that they have more KE than your daughter will. Just make sure she is pretty close and that the broadhead is a very very sharp cut-on-contact head. Good luck, I cant wait for my kids to get to hunt. I will be buying my daughter her first bow for her bday next month. Cant wait. Darren

My wifes grandparents gave me these pictures the other day. Her grandpa is an old cowboy that has lived in or around Camp Verde since he was born in 1920. He used to work up by Long Valley with several other guys, and one day they decided to have some fun with a 6x6 bull that they jumped from its bed. They first started chasing the elk on Buck Mtn, which you can see in the background of some of the pics. They chased the bull for about 5 miles before they got it to slow down enough to rope it. One guy roped one antler, and the other guy roped the oppossite antler. They tied off the ropes to two small pine trees and took some pictures. In the end, I think they just cut the ropes and let it go free. It was great getting to hear the story from someone that was there. And I think it is amazing that the pics are still around....I cant find something I had in my hands yesterday. Anyway, here are the photos he gave me. I tried to clean them up as best I could. I shoot a 70# bow with 125gr broadheads and end up with an overall arrow weight of 396.4. (Arrow weighs 9.2/gpi). When I shot 60# limbs my arrow was too slow at that weight. I believe you are close to where you should be, if maybe not too heavy. It is definitely a trade off between weight and speed. Maybe check out archerytalk.com for more technical details..??

Surveys simply serve one purpose.....to make it appear as though the AZGFD wants to serve AZ citizens. It is all about perception. IMO. TwoGuns

LOST RIFLE DURING LATE PIG HUNT
TwoGuns replied to TEAM TOAD's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Is there a way to track down the owner through the registration and serial numbers on the gun? Dont know who would/could do it, but I would assume someone could look it up. -
Josh, you must have found that set on the powerline road. Darren by the way, Josh, what tag did you draw? 6A?

Bill, the steiner predators are awesome. I bought them for my dad a few years ago, the 12x50s, and he loves em. they are durable and very sharp and clear. For the money, they are terrific. darren

Doug, you are so right. Growing up in unit 9, there were so many big bucks, especially out west, and there were no elk in the area. none at all. now, when you go out there you cant find hardly a deer track because it looks like an elk barnyard. That is exactly what the AZGFD has wanted all along though. They keep the north rim for deer and the south for elk, which is all about $$ I think, sellling high dollar elk tags. Which flies in the face of everything they say they believe in, which is that they want to restore things back to the way they were before people interfered. they spend tons of money trying to restore rivers and streams and keep these little spiked ace fish while at the same time saying elk and deer dont compete for resources in unit 9. Falls under their main department commitment to hunters: "Say one thing and do the opposite." Twoguns

I drew an 11m late archery cow tag. 3rd elk tag in 3 years.

Liz is enrolled at the vet school at TX A&M. She sent these pictures yesterday. The deer got tangled in the fence and broke his neck. With that rack it is no wonder he broke his neck....he couldn't get it the fence. He's huge.

Josh, you are a truly a mountain goat. Sweet pics. I don't know when you find time to do all that hiking, seems like i see you cruisin through town in your truck from sun-up to sun-down. don't you have a family? Your wife must be a good one to let you escape to the woods as much as you do. Great lion pic on the other page also. Darren

why dont they just say what they want to say? "Stay out of our woods."

Anyone interested in buying a new bow may find this interesting. The guys at Archerytalk.com did a pretty cool study on the new boys on the market. It is a lot of information, and can be a little overwhelming, but is pretty cool. http://www.archerytalk.com/reviews/ click on the compound bow review.
