yeah, have to agree with doug, dont think the big one from last year was there. My friend said there was a pretty good non typical that had 7 or 8 pts on each side, but also said it was like a 350 class bull. I will see if he can email me some more pics. darren

Thru Bino pics???
TwoGuns replied to coueschaser3's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
I ran into that problem taking pictures with my camera and spotting scope. I would finely focus the scope, then the autofocus on the camera would change it, and the pic would be blurry. What I had to do was hold down the button on my camera half way, so that it would auto focus, then I would use the dial on the scope and focus it. Worked ok, just a hassle. -
Congradulations on the new baby Scott. You are going to love being a dad...no greater gift in the world. Pics?? Looks like a sweet axis as well, nice job.

Calling Coyotes while Scouting??
TwoGuns replied to Bucks_N_Yotes's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
While scouting 6a saturday morning dad and i tried calling for just that reason...to try and keep the coyote population down and maybe jump a buck or two. Had no luck either way. -

&*%$ trail camera thief's strike again
TwoGuns replied to Big Browns's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
My uncle, being the smartest guy I know, came up with a good idea to prevent his cameras from being stolen. He has a lockable box that his camera fits in, smaller than a shoebox, and he has a lockable 5 gallon can that he mounts the camea box to. When he is ready to set it, he sets up the 5 gallon bucket and fills it with rocks so that it weighs around 60-70 lbs., then locks it shut and then locks his camera into the box mounted to the bucket. He sets out his cameras in a lot of areas where there are not many trees to use, so the bucket works well, and if someone wants to steal it, they will have to pack the whole thing out. -
Christian, was that you I saw today in 6a driving a green dodge truck? I was riding on a blue golf cart. Did you quit your job for hunting season?

Is Anyone Hunting in 6A Oct 26-31
TwoGuns replied to Bucks_N_Yotes's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I drew a WT tag for 6A Oct. 26 hunt and was out today doing some scouting and saw a coueswhitetail.com sticker on a green dodge pup with a matching camper. Seems as though everyone was out there today. Anyway, didnt see any deer this morning but saw lots of tracks, and it sure is nice to see the hills covered in green grass again. There are a lot of great areas down the power line road off of 260, all the way down into the canyon. And dont be discouraged by not seeing those little grey guys, they are very good at not being seen. Just check for tracks at the tanks or in the road cause they are in there. Send me a message if you are coming up to scout, since I live in 6a, maybe I will be able to get away and show you around. Good luck either way. Darren -
&*%$ trail camera thief's strike again
TwoGuns replied to Big Browns's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Sure is a crappy feeling when you walk up the the tree where you know your camera should be and its not.... I can relate, sorry to hear that it has happened twice. I actually found one while hiking in 6a this morning, and let it be....what an amazing concept. -

Those Presmyks are a good family. They were my neighbors for years here in Camp Verde, and always great to talk to. Kevin does drive a maroon chevy with dog racks in the back end. His dad, Kevin Sr. is a serious hunter and great guy. He has the most impressive room full of mounts I have ever seen. He actually added on a whole room to his house a few years ago just to put all his mounts in. I would certainly jump at the opportunity to chase bears or lions with those guys. darren

Amanda, really sad to see those fawns never even get a chance. It is amazing how many animals are killed on the freeways each year, as well as a lot of people that get hurt. My cousin Jeff has been working on this problem for the last 5 or 6 years for the AZGFD and has a lot of success. He was involved with the project along hwy 260 near Christopher Creek, and now is trapping elk along the I17 near Munds Park. He has also been involved with projects with sheep and antelope around the state. So, I know game and fish is working on projects to prevent animals being hit. Just keep trying to get their attention, and maybe they will listen at some point. Jeff and his projects were hi-lighted in last months AZ Highways magazine. Next time I talk to him I will ask him what else we can do. Darren

Good draw for us..... Dad, older bro and I drew first choice 6a Oct. WT. younger bro drew 2nd choice Unit 21 Oct. WT. Amazing thing is that we all put in on our own. Good luck to everybody this year. -
My uncle, who also lives in Camp Verde, sent me some trail camera pics that he got recently of some feral pigs. I thought some of you might like to see them, since I know I had never seen what they look like. I also think some members might actually know where they are located. Anyway, here are the pics.....

I agree with elmergoo, would stay away from the salt spot. However, I dont think there would be anything wrong with hunting a trail that leads to the salt. You should not sit his salt, but since it is there, it can still work to your advantage.
