Opinions on Feathers? Trueflight, AMG, Gateway?
BMart replied to Heat's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
I like AMG over Gateway feathers. I use four 4" for my longbow. I don't remember ever buying any Truflight feathers. -
Flatline maps are great but they don't have all the units yet.

Any reason you don't want twist locks? I always thought I would hate them and now that I have a tripod with them I love them. The Promaster XC325C with the Outdoorsmans pan head is 2.8lbs and goes up to about 65".
-
Looking for some 7MM Classic Hunters to try in my 280 Remington. Let me know if you have some to sell. Thanks
-
I just got the 65 and think it gathers plenty of light. Only looked through the 85 once and it was years ago so I can't really compare. The 85 was too heavy for me so was never really an option I looked at when I bought mine.
-
Yep, I just started doing it 3 years ago so I'm sure more and more people know about it every year. I know a few people that had applications get there on Monday that didn't get tags.
-
Let me know if you have some, thanks.

Here's an angle that might get some discussion....
-
I've heard nothing but good about the Outdoorsman's pack. I ended up buying the Mystery Ranch Crew Cab instead and love it, if you're looking for other options.
-
This is a good point I didn't think of. If it wasn't tied in properly it might not be the string twisting but the peep moving up or down on the string.
-
I have the 1600-B. Great for rifle hunting, I got a different one for archery hunting. The angle calculation doesn't kick in till 60 or 80 yards. The 1600-B reads well past 1600 if you have a solid rest.

Lol, love how I get a completely different answer each time I call. Lady #1- You don't have a tag yet, try calling tomorrow. Lady #2- Call back Thursday or Friday because we haven't started the draw yet. Lady #3- I don't see an application on file.
-
AYE! She said they didn't get to mine yet...now I'm nervous.
-
Shoot it until it stops moving then take it back to have them reset it. When I install a string I always tell people to shoot for a few weeks then bring it back to me and I'll fix the peep. Unless I can shoot it myself for a while it's going to turn as the string settles. Even the best string in the world needs a few shots to even out the twists and settle in the cams.

Not true. They cashed my check the week after I sent my application in. I heard that was the law with the credit cards but I heard that on here so not sure what the law actually is. They have to cash your check to be able to refund your money, minus the app fee, so I know that's not true for checks.
-
I am working....but it must be hard for you to turn wrenches while on CWT.COM.
-
Well on a positive note 654321 successfully derailed the paper app vs credit card argument with that statement. LOL I'm not really against that process since it says right in the regs it's legal. But to use that to justify why you don't have enough money to apply is.......well......ridiculous. It is possible to save up that much money to apply, I fronted more than that to apply for Elk, Deer, Antelope, and Sheep in NM. As did quite a few other people.
-
I don't believe that putting in people that don't have the intention to hunt is justification for not fronting money.
-
Writing a check doesn't front up the money They cash them well before the draw and don't refund until after the draw. I wish they would charge the cards up front too. And NO, they shoudn't go back to paper apps only...this is 2014. Anyone that hunts in NM sees how the credit card system should work. Would probably be a good idea to move the archery deer hunts in with Elk/Antelope to give a little more time to prepare for the hard to draw hunts.
-
That's too bad, hope you get the tag of your dreams when you return. Some states have a system where you can turn in a tag you can't use and get your money and points back. Then that tag goes to the next person that would have drawn that tag. They just have to draw a few reserves for each hunt in case that happens. I'm sure they have to prove a good reason for not using the tag too. I know I've had a tag that I couldn't use and it just went in the trash. This was a lot time ago before I knew about donating them.

Seriously. I have seen some awesome muley's just yards from the golf course. Great archery spot. Not anymore...lol

The loctite with the brush, so much easier to control how much goes on the vane. Plus, it's cheaper than anything made by an archery company.

mechanical broadheads success and failures
BMart replied to creed_az_88's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
lol. Best as in best shot, not smartest. I probably could have worded that better. I was trying to say that even a guy that could hit a paper plate from 125 yards 9 of 10 times was still not doing good shooting light arrows with mechanicals.
