I drew my first bull tag and first goat tag last year. Bout killed the bank account trying to scout for both all summer. First time in my life I was out of vacation mid September too. It was a good problem to have. Goat tag was 3.5 hours from home and the Elk tag was 5.5 hours from home. I knew the elk unit well so didn't spend much time up there but I'd never been to the unit I drew Antelope in so made lots of trips up there. I would actually prefer to not draw them in the same year but take them when you get them cause they don't come along often.

Not necessarily. If the bonus pass has mostly residents drawing then non residents can get tags in the 1-2 pass. Just depends on who gets the tags in the bonus pass. A non resident can get a tag in any pass as long as the non res cap isn't filled. The draw doesn't change for non residents, they just pass you up and draw a new name when the cap is met.

I guess I should assume its a cow tag! lol, trphyhntr has given me good advice before but to just answer "cow tag" is either a joke or a D move. I'm going with joke.

You didn't specify the weapon on your 3rd choice but I'm not seeing anywhere where there should be cow tags left in unit 1 on the 3rd pass of the draw. I'm pretty sure It's impossible to draw 99% of elk tags on a 3rd choice.

I canceled my NM apps last year when I drew Elk and Antelope in AZ...I think I did it before the deadline though.

I'm 2 for 3 on archery elk tags. Shot a cow with my longbow in 2011, drew cow tags on accident in 2012 but didn't get one, and my first bull last year a 240" 5x6. I think I've shot 10 big game animals now, 9 with a bow. That cow with my longbow was still the most exciting one I had.

I was impressed by it. This one came off of a rifle project I did last year. The rifle came out to heavy and I was having a hard time selling the complete gun so I took it apart to sell the stock/barrel/action separately. My new project is with a Remington 700 action, I got the same stock for the new project with the Remington inlet. I don't know about improving accuracy because I never shot the rifle with any other stock on it. I'm sure it's better than the plastic junk that came with the rifle though.

Last year a buddy of mine had his card canceled 2 days after the update deadline because of fraud. This is the reason they should contact people and make an attempt at getting a new card number if a person gets drawn. No fault of his own this happened. They need to find a loophole in the law that says they can't charge cards up front. We could avoid all of this by fronting the money. And yes I know I can front the money via check/MO but this is the year 2014......we shouldn't have to do anything on paper.

With all the problems last week we heard of this is probably the best guess.

Every year when I get my survey after applying I suggest keeping the online system but fronting money. Basically, just like NM.

+1000 My application receipts say 1/20/14 on them. There couldn't have been that many people that needed to update their CC on Sunday to shut the system down. Although, we always get frustrated when the results don't come out early and I've never seen them come out past the date the G&F originally says they will be available. Even when these extensions happen we see them earlier than the regs say we will.
