Burning an elk tag sucks but like was suggested, you can always donate and I think that is a great use of a tag! Plus there is always archery deer season. Stick to your guns, if he pulls it off then great and if not, well he better get to it cause December isn't too far off!

Yea, I was considering a Colorado OTC hunt next year but I might just stay in AZ!

Cole does a great job! Got my archery deer done by him last year and I don't see having the funds to do any shoulder mounts anytime soon, so assuming I get another worthy buck down I will be going back CMC SkullWorks! This is a great way to display your animal and if you're on a budget it's much less expensive than a traditional shoulder type mount.

Does that camera have an actual flash like a regular camera or is it an infra red flash?

Anyone have pics of Rhino? Maybe I'm behind the curve but I'm not familiar with this bull...

Not everyone chooses to spread the word about their harvests... I know of a great buck that was taken out of the desert last December as well, that went 186 and change, and had two broken tines, that probably would've added about 10", but the only reason I know about it is because I know the hunter... Some guys just like to keep their successes to themselves.

CO OTC archery elk - looking for a partner
ylclaret replied to azpredator@work's topic in Elk Hunting
Wondering if you have already finished your hunt and if so how it went? I had to cut my hunt short by a few days here in Az and although I had a blast I didn't get one down. I'm seriously considering doing this next year, cause there is no way I can wait another 5 years to get a tag after experiencing it this year. -
What about Newman peak and the picachos? I have heard of several bighorn sightings around there but haven't heard of an actual resident herd. Is there one already or are the sheep that have been spotted there just passing through?

I don't know much about bears but my buddy got this bear in Colorado last week, and it seems huge to me.
-
I talked to him this evening and asked if the bear was cinammony, he said he's a chocolatey cinammony color and measures 6'6" nose to tail. Can't wait to hear the skull measurement
-
I didn't read much of it but the most interesting one I saw was an aggravated assault with the victim being restrained/bound... Or something to that effect. Sounds pretty intense!
-
I will post the skull measurement when he gets it done.
-
Awesome! That's right across the street, I'm in 6a.
-
* I didn't know
-
I didn't what weight made a black bear big, I know they are scored by the skull but he said the game warden up there estimated his weight around 400 lbs

Love to hear it! Hunted hard from opening day through yesterday morning and it was tough. Be back up Friday evening. What unit are you in?
-
Hey man, I can appreciate your being humble but as far as I am concerned you are all that is man! I've been hunting hard every day since opening day and even had a shot opportunity yet, and I've got help! Great job on a great bull!

Be careful out there! Hand vs broadhead...graphic image
ylclaret replied to bigorange's topic in The Campfire
Ouch!! I keep a surgical stapler around the house for instances such as these! That must have been one sharp broad head. What kind of broad head was it? Glad to hear that there was no serious damage done. -
Well yesterday was pretty much garbage, but we did eventually get my truck started and limped it home on three cylinders. Then while watering chickens, I just about stepped on a rattle snake! Haven't seen one of those on the property in over 15 years. Finally got to bed around nine thirty but felt like a kid on Christmas Eve and couldn't sleep. Up at one thirty, and I'm pretty sure I've got everything I need, now just a few hours of work and then I will be headed for my unit. Really hoping the next few days are better than yesterday. Thanks for all the kind words, advice and well wishes! Now let's get some big bulls down!

I am having a rough go, and my first elk tag is already extremely stressful. My girlfriend is 36 weeks pregnant and not too stoked on the idea of me being 4 hours away and in sketchy phone service, and on top of that as I was trying to get ready today my sprinklers came on randomly so I go to check out the timer and re-program it and the timer just stops working. Put new batteries in it and it won't even turn on. Hop into my daily driver to run to Lowes and get a replacement, and when I come out, truck won't start! So now I'm waiting for my mechanic buddy to show up... Good thing I was planning on taking my other truck anyway but geez.... I hope I can get a good bull early and make it all worth it!

No problem, if you decide you want me to order some for you just let me know which store is closest for you and I will let you know when they will be there.

I work for a cactus nursery in Tucson, unfortunately I haven't learned all the names yet but I just asked another guy and he said its either a rainbow cactus or cream lace cactus. Apparently they are very similar. If you want one and are afraid to dig it up I could have some delivered to whatever is your closest Home Depot and they'd retail for about $8.

Any experience around chickens? I really want to get a bird dog and my girlfriend loves labs, but I can't have a chicken eater which makes it tough!
-
Awesome deer! Is he as white as he looks in photo?

How are we looking up there 6aNut?
