    GIANT COUES???

Hey, you can't choose your family! Haha!
  2. I was having an awful time getting my bow tuned, got on here and started asking questions, and a helpful member offered to take a look at it for me. We made sure everything was where it was supposed to be, and that my form wasn't the issue and it still wouldn't tune. Took of the whisker biscuit and put on a drop away and it immediately fixed the problem. Not saying that's the case here but it's a possibility worth looking into. My whisker biscuit was pretty worn out, so if you've put a bunch of arrows through yours try putting a new biscuit on it and see if it helps.

    game plan

I'm working on getting permission to get on some private land. Stumbled in to a really cool spot and found out later its private, but not posted. I drew a December whitetail tag for the same unit but I'm planning on setting up a camera and a tree stand in August if I can get permission soon enough. If I tag out in August I can donate my December tag, which I think would be pretty cool.

    Donate a tag

If you donate a tag, are you able to go along on the hunt with the person who receives the tag?

    GIANT COUES???

Mule deer. Becker, do you have a picture of my cousin Cody Glover's buck? I have it somewhere but you did the mount right?
  6. Dang, looks like I missed the boat on this one but I'm interested if for some reason it shouldn't work out with the others!

    Introducing myself

Just plan on coming back in January. That's when the rut really gets cranking anyway. Welcome to the site!

    Credit card hit

    Got my first December tag!
  9. Last year we were out scouting / bow hunting and started on public land. We saw some good looking country a little deeper in away from the roads and worked our way back to it and it was an awesome little spot. We hopped a couple fences along the way but none were marked, and I didn't think much of it. I found out later that we had ended up on private land. I really want to get permission to hunt this area because I believe it will be a great spot for the August season but I don't really know how to go about getting permission. How do I find out who owns the land? Have any of you ever had to figure this type of thing out?
  10. I would just prefer to get the ok because I found a seep and it's the first one I've ever found. I want to put a camera and a tree stand up, and there are some cattle in the area so I'm sure the rancher will come by the seep now and again to make sure all is well and I don't want him to find my gear and get upset, which could cause problems for my own hunting plans and others in the future.

    Need a job in Tucson

The company I've been selling for sold out and today was my last day. I thought I had a great job lined up but a DUI I got in 2011 shot that one down today. I have been working 3 different jobs to keep the bills paid but the one that just went away was the best of the three. I'm looking for anything that would pay $12/hr or more and be consistent full time work. I've done sales for wholesale nurseries to big box outlets (home depot, lowes, etc) for about 10 years, I have retail merchandising experience, I've got a little bit of demo experience, a little bit of electrical, and I know how to run a shovel. If anybody has any suggestions or knows of any openings I'd love to hear about them. Thanks!

    Need a job in Tucson

Thanks for the responses guys. Unfortunately the UP is a no go due to the DUI as well. If I was a single guy I would have been in the Permian already, I still consider it but my fiancé has a hard time with the idea of me leaving her home with 7 month old and her own full time job, and I can't really blame her. Chimichanga, do you have any more info on what jobs Freeport mcmoran might be hiring for? I just searched indeed.com and didn't come up with much. Thanks again guys!

    AZ Unit 6a Archery Elk

I made my last scouring trip up there one week before the season opened last year, and I saw a 370+ bull 200 yards off the highway. I figured he'd still be right around the area come opening day since he had a good sized group of cows to keep him around. Never saw him again! Haha! Good luck man and please report back and let us know how it goes.

    Haha! At least he's honest!

    Your Thoughts??? (pic)

I agree. He has great main beams, very good g2's an awesome g3 on the right side and a questionable one on the left, but who knows what a different angle might show there and if you look closely you can see he has really good eye guards. I bet he has 10-12" in those eye guards alone

    So we have Arizona...

I would say one of the 36's as well. The great thing about those units is this there are a lot of deer and your chances of getting a solid 3x "representative" are very good. The other plus is if you don't get drawn for the exact hunt you want, there are always left overs in those units that you can just buy OTC, they just might be for a different time period. If I am available at the time of your hunt I wouldn't mind helping you out, and I'm sure there are many others who feel the same. I'll take just about any excuse to go glass for deer! Let me know if you need an extra pair of eyes, or two or three extra pairs, I could probably round a brother or two and maybe a buddy.

    AZ Unit 6a Archery Elk

I had this tag last year and 6ANut was very helpful with the information he provided. Unfortunately I wasn't able to tag out but I did have many good encounters. If you are worried about lots of hunters I would take to heart the advice that someone have earlier, and that is to get into the quiet areas and get back in away from the roads. It's an awesome time of year and you should be into elk every day. I scouted the southern portion all summer last year and was very excited about some of the bulls down there, but the rut never really got going down low so I ended up further north in the pines where the rut seems to take hold a little sooner. So be flexible, and be ready to put some miles on your boots, and you should have plenty of action.

    Anyone have rabbit cage

Haha! I would have skipped the vet and bought another dang rabbit!
  19. Oh how I wish I had the money! Great deal!
  20. +1 on the knives. I've got a wedding coming up and am thinking about knives as groomsman gifts.

    Rancher Showdown

I haven't taken the time to research it thoroughly but I have seen several references saying that one of Clivens ancestors, I believe his great grandfather, bought the grazing rights to the Gold Butte area in the late 1800's, before the BLM even existed. Then the BLM comes into existence claims they own the area, and then sell the grazing rights to an environmental agency for $375,000. So first off, how can the BLM sell something that already belongs to the Bundy's, and second of all, if you already own something, why would you continue to pay for it again and again?

    Protecting an elk mount

When we had to store my dad's mule deer mount, we framed out a box big enough for it with 2x4's and actually hung the mount in the box, as if it were on the wall. I can't remember what all else we did, but you could try this, and maybe put packing peanuts in it just in case and wrap the whole thing in shrink wrap when you are done. I agree, that just having someone else hang it up for a while is probably best but if you can't do that, this might be another option to consider.

    squaring bonus points

It's seems to me that squaring bonus points would help clear up the current "clogging up" issue. It would probably take a couple of years and in those couple of years it would be very hard to draw a tag for anybody who doesn't have many points. Someone mentioned that squaring bonus points wouldn't do any good because everyone else's points would be squared as well but just because everyone's points are squared doesn't mean it won't help the draw in the long run.

    squaring bonus points

I don't know for sure but I'm assuming it would work like this. 1 Bp = 1 extra random number generated 2=4 3=9 4=16 5=25 . . . 15=225 So effectively, if they were to square the bonus points it would move the draw towards more heavily favoring those with more bonus points.
