    the rut

Sometimes the first 15 days of October are killer, and sometimes the last 10 days of September are even better.

    the rut

The rut is kicking butt right now, 6 nights in a row i have been out to 7W ,6B, and 11M and found an average of 2 to 6 bulls calling every night from 5:15 to dark. absolutely no hunters around.to many hunters only hunt the popular spots where everyone is or hunt the bedding areas when the elk are down.and scare them to another county,to many videos on how to hunt and call elk, elk hunters normally only spending 13 days a year hunting them and they think it should be easy and to the guys who think you can't call big bulls in anymore it's because you don't know what your doing. stop chasing them up the mountain when they know you are following them yet you keep cow calling 30 times and bugle your guts out. and everyone wonders why the bulls shut down really. by know means am i an expert but i live in elk country and am out almost everyday of the year it really hasn't change much.just a lot of novice hunters who think it should be easy it's not.

    " Coues " Pronunciation

Growing up we always called them cows, wasn't untell they got real popular to hunt and the intranet people started calling them coues they thought they were so tough to hunt it was insulting to call them cows.Guess what big Mulies are tough to hunt and we call them all kinds of different things but most don't get upset, It's way harder to kill a giant muley so why do coues hunters get so upset when people call them there real name? It's Cows just like cattle. POB, Guess I am one of the Jack asses.

My Bride and her buck **UPDATED***LOL

Congrats to your wife on killing this buck,I have watched him for the last 3 years I think he is the son of the buck my son killed, I am glad someone finally killed this buck since he was really on the down size of his years. Last year he still had an extra paddle he didn't have it this year.He is one cool looking buck. I only made it out 3 times this year and he was the fourth biggest buck i had seen you guys did a great job great job to you and your wife very awesome. 3 years ago this buck was pushing 88 inches he looks like 81 or 81 and a half inches now.

    antelope season is underway

I have seen several of your posts and you guys kill some great animals, with so many awesome antelope units, with 21 points why did you burn them all with 21 points on 19a? just wondering my friends have always cleaned up on archery 19a, I don't really think this year was any different we just now have the internet for everyone to post there success.Did someone influence you to put in here?I know most units that say the success rate it usually way off. 19a has always been one of the easiest units to kill a goat. I have seen the stats of some units where we have killed 5 or 6 animals and it only showed 20 percent success don't go by the g and f book it isn't very accurate sorry you burned so many points. god luck on your hunt I hope you find a giant.

    Bigger gear for bigger animals

Last years lost in found is getting worse every year, I found a cow last year that had 4 broadheads in it amognst the bones,2 years before that in 5 b I found 5 broadheads in the dead elk bones are you kidding me most of the people on this site I think are newbies I don't get pissed I just state the facts from my experiance, back in the day we use to have are hunters use 220 grain bullets so they could bust the shoulder and then finish it off.I have read the posts on past thru shots with a bow I have killed well over 30-40 animals with my bows only one of those wasn't a pass thru were the heck are you guys aiming.more elk are lost with a rifle then the drug store archery hunters it's a fact I once glassed a guy shooting a 30 06 hit a elk 6 times and walk away thinking he never hit it because it didn't fall over.once in the Dragoon mountains we watched 3 guys shoot at a deer 26 shots they hit it 16 times and still didn't kill it.I think people spend more time on these forums then they ever will in the woods.
