Where I had my last deer processed, the guy there told me he had seen a few Elk come in and when he got into them he found lost and broken broadheads. . . He had seen many bulls that way, full of broadheads. . . take that for whats its worth, but they are tough creatures! IMHO they don't wander around and suffer, they dont have pain sensors all built up like we do, they just get along and tough it out. They don't whine about it like us people would.

I hunt up north! I mean I am glad they are being thorough, I don't want the illegals here at all. There is no reason to be an butt about things though. I mean a guy can do his job and still be civil. I got hassled one time by the Forest service, this guy was all over me because of my AR-15 in the front seat, kept asking me if I took a rifle scouting all the time, I told him yes I take my Colt with me everywhere. I'm glad we never got around to the Smith in my buttcrack! haha ha ha Its a good thing to bite your tongue though, he was probably looking for you to smart off, then bring the hammer, then you lose no matter what. I would call or email someone in the org. and complain though. my two or three cents worth.

Scouting in unit 8 archery bull

start looking for fresh rubs, and fresh tracks in the mud, get the general area picked out by fresh sign. And then find a good trail or two. Then when the hunt day comes, it should be much easier to find the animals. Good luck and Congrats! -

I think there has been a chronic problem with G & F as of late, for the past few years, all the rules have changed and then changed again, people are confused often, and the communication is limited. . . basically WE have to get ahold of THEM and find out whats REALLY going on. . . it is sad. I think there are alot of OLDER or Elderly people who put in and forget to read the directions, or just "do it the way they always have" and often these are the people who do it wrong. G&F needs to make the rules in BIG PINK LETTERS so we can all find them and follow them . . and make them the same from year to year, so people can get used to them! My two cents. -
I just found the same thing. I shot some pics too. I thought you found my same elk. . . which means my same hunting spot ha ha, but I re-read your post and its a different leg.

Shot a lot of pictures of this poor guy, he could only hobble along at a walking pace. His mommy was close by and wouldn't hardly leave him. Looks like a fence got him??? it was swollen up badly, he would wince every time it moved, there were flies all around it, it flat looked nasty! What are we supposed to do for something like this?
-
oh yeah I forgot to mention it was WAY broken, just hanging there. you can see part of the bone hanging out through the hole. sad.

I want to be a wildlife photographer someday. Heck since I can't get drawn for anything, at least I can pull the trigger anyway. Does anyone recognize howard seep?

I got a CANON EOS REBEL XT 8.1 Megapixel off ebay for 450 bucks GREAT DEAL! It has a TON of features that the really high priced cameras have. I believe after all my research and what I've learned that these are better than the nikons for the same prices. I also bought a Sigma DG APO 300mm lens just to photograph wildlife. Go check out Photography on the net website. http://photography-on-the.net/forum/index.php I absolutely LOVE this camera. I look forward to posting up some great pics in the future. here is one I took the other morning too, this elk was about 150 yds. Photo had to be resized to fit, the original is 4Megs another doe in the shadows
