I still have his image of ten older guys in G&F uniforms sitting out back drinkin a few beers and pulling all these applications out of a big barrel . . . . "this guys' name is stupid!" . . (tossed into the not drawn pile) "Oh I got so-an-so, he's my nephew once removed on my sisters side" (tossed into the drawn pile) "Hand me another beer Dave" . . . oops spilled it on this guys app. . . . "declined can't read it" (tossed into the not drawn pile.) "Oh I remember thhiiiiiiisssss guy, he posted something mean on a website about G&F ten years ago. . . ." Rip Rip Rip. . . .

I love how I am sitting here all daydreamy reading all these posts about what we are doing while we wait for G & F to get our stinking results out. . . . 5 pages of nothing but garbage. . . . then I look at the bottom and there are 50 other people doing this same thing ha ha ha ha ha Man we are pathetic overinterested hunters the lot of us! I just called and bugged them some more, the chick said thursday or friday GRRRR!

    When & Why?

Started bowhunting when I was in my Freshman year of college. Had nobody to teach me and the internet was brand new so I had quite a learning curve to overcome . . . Took 6 years before I shot my first buck! He is a dink 3x3 in velvet and hanging above my head right now. super trophy to me. I remember shooting AT my first buck and feeling my knees go weak and wondering what the heck that was all about!!! I remember missing six or seven bucks due to mechanical errors and fletching issues and you name it! I learned it all the hard way it seemed. I remember accidentally sneaking up to about three yards from a huge old black bear one morning and all I had on me was my bow! (pre "you can pack a pistol days") I was afraid to breath or blink. I remember hunting every waking moment of this one season and never saw one single buck period! I bet I hiked 70 miles in the mountains. . . would do it all over again too. I remember missing this one large 4x4 buck who was perfectly broadside, looking away from me, and was only about twelve yards away. . . my heart was beating so fast I could barely draw breath! My old PSE Elite was set at an amazing 110 lbs and I jerked that sucker back like it was nothing! I bet I missed him by over a foot! ha ha that one still haunts me to this day. I shot my first buck at 43 yards and he was standing about 200 yards away from where I missed this 12 yarder ha ha ha. I remember talking with my grandpa about how exciting and perfect archery hunting mule deer was and how he loved to hear about every adventure. We relished those stories. God willing I will have lots more memories in the years to come.

    Don't wait !!!

Our deepest sympathy for you and your family. God has his own timeframe and it rarely coincides with what we want. Our prayers go out to you and your family that he is alive and well in a much happier place than we all are.

    Epek broadheads

I found them last year and looked into buying some, sent the company an email. . . . took forever to get a response. The guy finally told me they had made some production up and I could order them. I can't find that email anymore. They look like great heads, but one story about opening up before they hit would shy me away for sure. EPEK SITE I think the Tru Fire Swithchblades look and work pretty close to the same and they fly awesome for me.

    whats your range?

I have stuck em at over 100 yards and missed em at under 12 yards. . . . . . lol this thread is fun. first day of season or last day of season? Giant buck or cow elk? Javalina, and coyote? Targets or 390 class bull? Too many variables. . . .

    broadheads

Lots of opinions and input on broadhead choices for sure. For fixed I would look at the Trophy Taker Shuttle T-Lock, NAP razorcaps, and the Montec G5 = All strong, solid, sharp heads, that fly well. For expandables look at the Rocket Steelheads, and the TruFire Switchblade. I have had exeptional luck and penetration with both heads. I suspect I might never change from these two heads. Each and every bow/shooter will get different results given their unique set-up, but if you start with a proven head you will be doing allright. Its all about what flight you get with each one. If I were shooting tree-stand and only 20-30 yds I would use fixed, but since I am mainly a spot and stalker, I use expandables for long stable flight and deep penetration. My humble .02 worth.

    draw poll

Educate me!! The research I have done leads me to believe that 8 points would earn me just about any deer hunt I wish SOUTH of the Colorado river. I did not apply for any hunts north of the CO river. So unless I am missing something here..................I just need to confirm I drew not hope I drew. 8 points pretty much means nothing ha ha ha. . . . that bonus point system they talk about is an urban legend.
