How completely annoyed and downright angry I am tonight..... Took my friend out again tonight. Got into a few bulls as they were coming out of their beds and headed down into the flats.... Walked right into some great bugles! Positioned ourselves right in front of a couple great bulls talkin trash to each other as they worked down the thickets of this draw.... Working out nicely! 5:00....bulls screaming all around us... Cows filtering past us already.... Then we hear it...the quad! Drives down the flats....straight to the water hole all these elk are working to.... He stops about a hundred yards short of the water... Bulls clamp up... Elk come flying past us back up the mountain! No more calls until dark! Game over! Thanks for playing! ! ! Its like "dude! Watch some videos...read a book! Learn about elk hunting! ! ! Its archery season! ! ! You just don't do that! ! " /rant

great job on a great bull! Only thing is.... where is the hunters smile? If I shot a bull that huge I'd smile every day for a year! Glad he finally got his hands on him! Congrats to all involved

Got skunked yesterday.... Today my rookie partner took a shot first thing, barely missed a nice 3x3. We hunted slowly and patiently for a few more hours. Spooked some elk off the top of this mountain, one last elk spooked a different way and I saw he startled a small buck! I slowly worked my way a couple hundred yards into view... turns out there were 5 bucks.... all bedded up in some thick nasty downed timber. I crawled to within 85 but no shot.... they eventually saw me and spooked. I literally chased them about half a mile through the woods. Finally getting them cornered between a mountain bike trail and the corner of a bald hill peak. Click click click my shaky rangefinder to show a downhill slightly quartering to me shot of 65 yards. Draw, tried to slow my breath, tried desperately to settle the pin... nearly yanked the trigger as they started to walk off yet again. I heard the arrow clank hard into the giant downed tree just behind them.... Miss I thought! Crap! Got on the phone to my buddy, telling him where to go to intercept bucks.... Walked down to find arrow just in case... found broken arrow covered in blood! HECK YES! arrow went straight through and then into stump! Got back on phone Yelling at him "bloody arrow!" He made his way back to me.... just as I was about 50 yards into the blood trail. There he lay piled up in the dead timber! Shot was a touch forward, but exited behind the far shoulder. Good enough to get the job done and finished this guy in less than 60 yards! My 3rd archery buck and I am glad to say he is bigger than last years!

I saw a piebald deer standing on a hillside near the Sedona exit one time many years ago! I almost crashed my truck! I believe that one special group of albino/piebald deer is in Ney York and they live in this old military complex/land and thats why they cant be hunted.... because it was a military installation... nothing really to do with them being piebald. Just found it, the Seneca White Deer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seneca_white_deer

I have had great luck if they are NOT spooked using a regular bleat sound like the guys on TV... But if they are already spooked they won't usually care about that sound... in some cases I have used a "blow" sound (pshhhh) and stomped my feet hard on the ground (like their alert stomp) to make them take notice. It worked one awesome time this year!

thanks for all the compliments guys! I'm really happy with the hunt. Hardest part was getting him off the mountain! Luckily I had a rookie in training. we ended up cutting him in half. I carried ribs, front shoulders, head on my back and Ryan carried the rear part...lots of jokes there! Nearly 2 miles! I am a sore tired guy! But always,a labor of love!
