I hunted this unit a few times archery and a rifle bull. It depends on weather during rifle hunt. Archery is like all the other a week or 2 to early most of the time. I am going up Sunday to take look around. For my son and I have a rifle bull tag this year too.Took me 25 years to get a rifle bull tag and I got lucky to draw 2 in 3 years. More bulls on the north side but harder to hunt. The south side lots of cows and lots of people. Me I hunt were most won't. 2 years ago I seen 9 bulls and 2 cows. I was on both ends of the unit and drove over 1000 miles in a week. I got a nice 320 bull on the second to last day. On the south side hunt near the canyon. North side is tough to hunt. The burn area can be good all depends on weather. I will be up their on Thanksgiving day. Pm me and may be we can talk a little more. Its all good area. If you hunt the east side of the unit there is less pressure and people, but less elk. It's your call. That is what I know about this unit hope this will help.

Hope you find your son's dog. I run dogs and know all about that. Have been pretty lucking on getting them back. Nothing worst then that filling. Good luck let us know if you find him.

Just bought one setting it up today. Making sure every thing is a ok. Bought it used. Guy use it 2 times. Like brand new. Called the guys at Davis tent they gave me a cut list after I measured the tent. The guy I bought it left his poles when he moved. Got a 12 x 14 with angles front and back door, wmf treated. $400.00 bucks. Poles cost me a 130.00 best deal I got in a long time. Have heard nothing but good about these tents.

That's bull hang them. I have found so many trail cams on water holes, never ever even thought of taking them. That's bull .hit. Karma will get them.

Friend of mine came across a grow called police and they sent him 500.00 bucks 3 months later.

Good rule of thumb is the width plus 1. So if its a 5 inch wide track it would be close to 6 foot bear. if its a 4 inch wide track its most likely a 5 foot bear. I have shot a few bears, and with running dogs. Its pretty close. Happy hunting

I hunt with dogs. Most of the northern units are good for dogs. We try to stay up high for the dogs. So the don't over heat. Units like 4 b 6b 23 south 24 a 24 b 17a 17b 18 b 20a 20b. those all start the Aug. 22 there is some units that start on the 8th like 3b 4b 6b 22 south and 23 south. We caught 3 bears in 2 days last year. Let them all go after pictures. We went to another unit no luck. Went to another unit and caught 2 more. Its hit our miss. I can tell you this that we try and stay out of the archery hunters way. Lots of country just having fun like the rest of you guys. Good luck

Cousin was coming back from lion hunting last Sunday and the dogs blew up in the dog box. Found bear tracks in the road 19 b.

Up to 5 lions a year? Each tag is $225.00 or 1 tag is good for 5 lions. That is great news. Have never hunted lions there before. Any suggestion were to start? Any units better then others? I have hunted bear on San Carlos in unit C. Just got into hounds and looking forward to it. Thanks for the up date.
