    Tips on Wader purchase

Ya being born here in az waders and fly rods just were not around. I used to bass fish with a fly rod but it was my buddies gear so never knew what was what. I now have a couple rods and waders on the way. Upgrades to come later I'm sure. Belt makes sense, never heard of that or the sock style Wader with boots.

    Fishing Outfit Rant

Hey I was so off my mind set I just realized we had reservations booked and paid for for horse camp in Prescott, we had 2 nights rodeo tickets also. And we were booted by that fire as well. I donated the rodeo tickets to friends of friends and e got a refund on the horse camp. Minus 10.00 dollar booking fee. This trip was planned 4 months ago and there were several horse trailers going, still bummed about not going, now I'm more bummed your kids didn't get to enjoy camp. Dang that fire.

    Fishing Outfit Rant

It's a bummer but hard to hold it against them. Guiding is a rough business and they have to deal with all manor of cancelations. 2 weeks before they may not fill the spots and they are out the revenue. Just be thankful the kids are good and you'll be ready to go again soon. Ya it sucks but it is a business, the policy is there because it happens enough that if all were refunded they would not be in business.

    Ram DEF Issue's

Of course deleting the def system is the best fix but illegal. So one thing I read when researching trucks before buying was the def issues. One way to help with any issues is to keep the def tank full at all times, fluid crystallizes when exposed to oxygen so the more air in the tank the more chance of crystallization. Worked for me so far. I do still need to get in for the recall, What by chance is your recall????

    CWD

Just listened to a podcast on CWD and really thinking about it in a different way. Much more concern is one thing. I still can't seem to answer the question of wether or not I would eat the meat from a positive animal? I am leaning towards yes but also leaning towards no? What would you do if you were in Co and shot a cow that tested positive? Dump it or freezer?

    Deer shed poll..

100 percent in their main living area for me. If I find a shed I'll be glassing that area in December January.

    CWD

Currently we are also being lab rats, there is no mandate to have animals tested so a lot of folks are most likely eating positive animals. To date even in Colorado there has never been a case of human infection. I believe in Colorado they will replace your tag if you have a positive animal.

    CWD

Baiting in a non infected herd is fine sure but if an infected animal wonders into the area it could run through 100 animals in days and grow from there. There are steps to minimize risk and bait is a risk. Az luckily has been out in front of the issue and has not recorded any CWD in all testing done. However most don't get the free testing due to lack of knowledge of the test at all. CWD as of now has no cure and is spreading all over the nation in deer , elk, moose. It was kind of a bummer to hear, hopefully a cure and a way to administer it can be developed.

    CWD

No on the cooking it out, something like 600 degrees to kill it off so thinking meat cooked to 600 would be not so great. There was a really interesting point also on the cells bonding with clay and other types of soil and becoming 700 times more viable than animal to animal contact. So basically I now support and understand the thought of bait bans. Not sure why salt would still be ok. The jury is still out on urine based attractants with the urine coming from infected animals on farms. Listen to rinellas last meat eater podcast for more in depth info, very good Intel from science.

    What's Your One Indispensable Exercise

Toss up between lap swimming and hiking with weighted pack. More than likely hiking with pack then swim then running. I have committed to doing a triathlon in late July so I have been doing a tri workout each week, 30 min swim, 30 min bike, 30 min run all at the gym.

    2017 Buffalo House Rock Ranch

I have no dog in this fight and no desire to hunt buffalo but my understanding is that when they are not working together as a whole the herd just hops back into the park and no one gets a shot. Just my understanding of why it's like that up there. Also why I don't put in for buffalo. My belief is its the same with big horn, good luck going diy with 5 guides on every hill. I'll stick to the low success no people around hunts.

    Colorado DIY OTC

Ya that's the only thing that's kept me from going, I keep saying I'm headed up but when I start researching I hear that they get a lot of traffic. Just be ready to move from spot to spot if there are high numbers.

    Wild Horses

There are a lot in Heber area. I ride around and if I don't see horses I see tons and tons of droppings. All over the area. I don't remember a trip riding when I have not seen several.

    Hot Shot Trail

As I made my way off the mountain today I came upon the Granite mountain hot shot memorial park. I decided to make my way to the area where theses gentlemen lost their lives. Not sure what made me stop, been by many times but something pulled me this time. Wouldn't you know I took off from the parking lot while 2 fire crews were coming down from paying their respects. I stopped along the trail and nodded to each man as he passed. Along the switchbacks there are memorial plaques for each hot shot explaining who they were. The trail is very well done and tough. Straight up Yarnell hill for 2 plus miles before leveling off and finishing 2.8 at the overlook of ground zero. I felt like I shouldn't be walking around at the actual site so I stayed up top and spent some time looking down and picturing what happened. It was a sobering moment. I recommend making time to drop a donation at the trail head and even making the climb to the site, it's a tough little hike no doubt but doable for most when it's cooler out. Props to those who worked on this project , I was very impressed , amazing job. I'll be back soon. This is the site after the fire This is the site with the memorial.
