Black diamond carbon, always use them. Lekki makes the best.
-
I also suggest going on YouTube and searching Joe Brewer, I watched his gear list videos for the pct and apt and he had the gear down to a science. Helped me a lot with backpacking
-
Keep us posted, if it works out I'm sure we could get a few guys to come up and do support runs. I.e. Drop water or food or set up camp along the way so you can shower and eat.

Get on the azta website they have done a great job and you can talk to stewards of each section personally and find out what your dealing with. I have done pretty much all of the trail from picket post to flagstaff on foot and on horseback. The one section that will be the most demanding will be fro mt orde area to pine. The mazatzal range is long rough and little water opportunities.

Dump it, best thing we did a long time ago.

Ya they do the job, I bought for trigger time.

That's something people don't realize in az when the monsoons hit we get some really nasty bog earth for horses. We have ran into this a few trips and it is zero fun.
-
Ok so I see a lot of "if you hit them right it works "so where is hitting them right ? and if perhaps someone didn't hit them right is the margin for error much smaller with solid ???

backpacking tents.... what are you guys using?

So you are rolled up in a tarp with a mosquito net on your head and there's no insect issue??? That sound like the most uncomfortable camp ever!!! Top that with 11 miles in that range and you guys are animals. -
Funny I did here a few guys on here liking the ttsx but I didn't know they were solid.
-
I just heard a few podcast with very experienced hunters not liking them. I believe they called it the pencil effect, bullet never expanded. Are the gmx from horny solids??? Was thinking of going to those when I'm out of Sierra game kings.
-
I don't here much good about solids for game?

I would jump on the rich outdoors podcast, the last few months he does wapiti Wednesday and there has been some really good info on those. My limited experience is when they are rutting the weather doesn't shut them down here in az, showers and storms blow through quick. One thing I know we did wrong was not being more aggressive with our movement and also with bugle, we were a little shy with both -
I didn't even know Ross moved? Right on my way home sweet. How does the range work? Can one just stop in and shoot? Fees? I need some arrows built anyway so good reason to stop.

Where's that rowdy racks guy located, he seems to be a good guy, maybe he will have something? Or I would really try hard at getting in one of the school district shops. Maybe SRP has a shop? I would offer a machining job but it's not the best job without experience. -
