Very cool nice work

Ya we were both super happy. We were back at camp making dinner and sipping a cold beer and we still just couldn't believe it. Brian said to me, this is a dream hunt if I ever heard of one.

Ya that building was an oddball, not the best neighborhood either. Figured it would put you halfway from phx to Tucson and Payson and such. Thanks was just curious, should be stopping in soon, do you guys do military discounts?

Well we packed in heavy and packed out heavier. For Veterans Day weekend I helped my buddy Brian with his deer hunt. I picked over the regs and chose a hunt that fit his busy military schedule. This area was somewhat new to me in a unit I know well. Water for the mules was the main concern so we did a scouting run to check some springs in the area and stash some gear. Monday was a 21 mile day after taking some side trails and doing some glassing. After a day of recovery we left out on Wednesday to pack camp in. 10 miles one way walking with the 2 mules packing camp and feed had us in a sweet plush camp site with water not far away. A few nice items we added for this trip was a solar shower and a five gallon collapsible water jug. Both were money in camp. We took showers and did laundry in camp and it was a game changer. Friday morning we had 2 spikes in the scope at 130 but Brian didn't want to end the hunt so soon, this by the way was this vets first deer hunt. I was telling him to shoot over and over but he held off. A few more days hiking long hauls to glassing spots had us getting a little frustrated and Brian was starting to wish he had dropped that spike day 1. We chased some forkies one day and worked on a real nice 4x4 another. Brian had to be back for duties in a few days so it was any buck from here on out. Last light day 5 Brian takes out the heart on his first deer, a nice heavy bodied coues spike. I have to say a big thanks to Brian a long time friend "since age 6" for a great trip in the mountains, having a military guy in camp was awsome, we really ran a great camp and had daily tasks dialed in. Not even having to talk each of us did our jobs. Congrats buddy , love you man and thanks for your service. 6 days total and we logged north of 80 miles on foot. Today is a well earned recovery day.

Thinking of putting chains on 2 spare tires for a late season hunt. Basically thought it would be easier to change wheel with chain on ready to go rather than put chains on???? Also planning on 2 fronts only ???? Don't plan on driving around for the hunt just having for emergency
-
Ya the more I think I'm going to go with all 4 and just chain up if needed, going to grab a few for the trailer as well. Thanks for the info Hoss , I'm in a stock ram 2500 275 85 18

Hybrid workout today, snuck into a buddy's unit, backpack in about 9 miles with a 1.5 detour. Dropped packs and gear for this weeks hunt, jogged and hiked 10 miles out to truck and made it to sushi dinner date back in town by 8pm. Good fing day

Ya dude, dad lost 7 lbs in a week, he's talking lifetime license now, ???? Guess he didn't mind the lack of bucks.
-
Going out one last day on dads tag, although we had a great trip and packed tons of activity in we didn't see one buck. Tons of does and babies running around and tons of hunters driving but no bucks. My eyes are toast after 7 days of glassing. Snuck in some repairs on dads RV and caught some of the World Series as well. Fingers crossed one more day and a new area will do the trick.

It's a wrap, few more does spotted but not one buck.
