I have the same rifle and it shoots 3/4 MOA with factory ammo. Ya they shoot as well as most people can pull the trigger, I picked up a few of them for the kids to drag around. My daughter dropped a few animals with this then she went to college and turned Vegan !!

Any interest in going out for some crane hunting? Might make some decoys and give it a try this year.

November and December are the hunts, the regs are on AZGFD site under hunt regulations down the page a ways. Not many hunts or tags but sounds like it could be a fun 3 days. Supposed to be some good meat. Maybe the farmers need some yotes removed also.

Deadline is creeping up, shoot me a message if anyone wants to do the same hunt number. I'll be picking soon but not locked in at all

Webcast tonight regarding the "Education" funding

Anyone else notice the public meeting right in the middle of archery elk season? Great location but terrible timing. -
Love grouper, havnt had it since my honey moon

It's amazing what one harvest can provide, we are feeling very blessed tonight with yet another elk steak dinner. Steamed cauliflower, red rice and beans, roasted Brussels, and mushroom blue cheese sauce. The meat didn't need such a sauce but dang was it good.

One of the most important things is your arrow hits the target square. So if your arrows hit the target at an angle you are losing a large percentage of the kinetic energy built into your arrow. It doesn't matter if your arrow is 600 grns or 400 if it's not hitting straight it's not using that weight.
-
I'm am by far no expert but I think you may be on the light side of the spectrum for elk but you also should be just fine, placement is a lot of the game, a heavy arrow like 150 grn more than mine is better when you make a bad shot or hit bone or a tougher part of an elk. I have seen an arrow just like yours drop animals in 30 seconds. Not elk, but tough animals. Put all the odds you can in your favor

Those type of sheep hunts remind me of mtn Everest, to me it's really been ruined by business and traffic, after listening to Jay Scott and his sheep hunt I have zero desire to do anything like that even if I had the money. Sounded more like a bunch of retired folks on a tour bus than a hunt. I would much rather take that kind of money and go to New Zealand or Australia several times and hunt for weeks for multiple species and not be like cattle in a shoot.

Alaska Trip Help (updated with trip report pics)
MULEPACKHUNTER replied to AZ RANGER's topic in The Campfire
Very nice thanks for sharing. -
That just reminded me of a story. Long ago when I was 20 years old me and a buddy were driving to Bartlett lake in his moms wood paneled station wagon towing a 1953 Jon boat and some Jack Daniels and Vienna sausages when we find an old mattress on the side of the road smoldering from a cigarette being laid under it and lit !!!!! It was east of the ranger station headed down the hill to the lake and could have set that whole desert on fire. The butt was under the mattress and you could tell it burned a line up to it. We put it out and let the sherif know but never heard anything else. People are nuts

I've been testing the new pedialyte powder packets and I am very impressed, they taste great and dissolve very quick in water. Perfect size for 16 oz water bottle. All stores have them that I have been to. Not cheap but one of the best products for electrolytes I have used and I have used a lot. So now I am using 2 Tailwind nutrition powder Pedialyte powder packets I'll have these at all times now

I got it and yes they want ideas but they also have a base plan which I'm guessing is whatever was laid out by conserve and protect. They already also have public input scheduled which means it's on the road to being solidified whatever it is they have already. Should be interesting.
