Ron Robison custom arrows
MULEPACKHUNTER replied to MULEPACKHUNTER's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
Patriotic FMJ set ready for September. Cut to 29.5 with blazer and 120 up front, 477 total weight. -
Anyone ever hear of this Bowyer? Since beginning to build arrows for myself and friends I have been meeting folks who have old items in their garage, these are custom built wood arrows from 50 plus years back still in the box. Still shoot great.

Coming down to the last of the range days. One last adjustment on sight tape for 40 and 50. I made good shots my tape is just off a tad. Aimed at red on turkey"" and yellow at 50

Over a year after the act of hunting the work is still going. Freshly thawed and ground into burger these elk and deer sliders are one of the top 3 favorite dishes in our home. Ground meat, 2 eggs, ground salad croutons, ground stale bread, salt, pepper, a dash of Tony's , and diced Parmesan cheese. Work into small slider size patties, cook 2 min and 30 seconds per side on hot cast iron pan on grill at 450. Add cheese and set aside in oven. Toast preferred buns on grill and fry up some taters shaped like fries. Do not press burgers or generally touch other than one flip.

My machine will work as well if needed.

Ben Lilly was the guy I was thinking of. I thought he was called the hermit of the gila. May be wrong guy. I thought I remembered reading he hunted some of the last Grizzlies in New Mexico. Still a good story either way.

Arizona Backcountry Hunters & Anglers 1st Annual Dove Cook Off & Pint Night
MULEPACKHUNTER replied to AmericanThunder's topic in Conservation Group Events
Wow, great timing. Who picked that date? A vegan anti-hunter? I guess most AZ Elk hunters who didn't draw can go so maybe not too bad a date. I had a recipe in my head until I looked at the calendar. -
My reading journey as a very new hunter

Very cool and it sounds vary familiar as I have a similar story. Congrats on your new path. -
Draw board stand completed and I decided to add the bow vise to one end for double duty.
-
So so excited right now. Just finished up day two in the oven / garage building my own bow press. Already swapped my peep out and re did the center serving. Such a great tool to have on hand.
-
Draw board and paper tune set up close to done. Just need a stand for the board.
-
Oh man that's a good idea. Your fingers look better than mine too.
-
Added a purchased item to the bow press, all I need now is to add a draw board to the press or maybe a separate unit. This vise is money.

Man very bummed for you guys , hope everything comes out ok.

Well the fun has come to an end boys and girls, out of 500 employees we had one enlightened soul who put the smack down on us shooting in the parking lot. We work weekends for a reason and this dude doesn't even work with us but heard about our fun and would have none of it. More and more I see my self like Charles Bronson in a remote cabin far from enlightened people. I guess the old fat guys can go back to the roach wagon and sitting waiting to die

Someone finally hit the center red, only took 100 arrows.
-
First time serving , the start was a little hokey but the back serve came out sweet. 20 minutes to break to test it.

Ya I don't think we will be hunting any time soon with recurves, I just pushed a couple guys at work into archery and they shoot for fun. This is the only time I can get them to shoot. I've been pushing them to try javi hunt this year but just walking to get their arrows at 25 yards is rough on them. "Old fat guy walk" it's better than them sitting in the break room I guess.
-
Break time, second group was much better then it went south from there

Another hot one at the range. Not a soul in sight. Put the final touches on my partners 2 bows and launched some broadheads out to 80 yards. Other than a few bad releases and some wind drift I think it's up to him now. Both the T-Loc and G5 heads hit the same so not sure which he will run but guessing the G5. Maybe both.

Ya we have hunted 6b the last 3 years with various tags and it's been really really tough. We backpacked and do base camps and really put the effort into it. So far only one cow elk came from about 10 days of scouting and over 20 days of hunting pretty hard. I did have a really young mule deer at 75 yards on last years muzzy hunt but passed and I regret that a little. You really have to know the unit well for it to be productive. Do a ton of scouting and work hard , there are deer there but the majority are going to be in thick nasty stuff and hard to hunt. We saw more whitetail than mule deer.

Any geology majors know what the heck is going on here ?
