Looks to me like I'm going 4 fletch , arrow weight ended up at 524 on the dot. Brass insert and 100 heads. Added a 7 in custom wrap on the back end and man do these hit hard and with tight groups. Super quiet vs what I started off shooting. 30 yard group

This place called Hhsales has them

It's Mazatzal first of all and second read the regulations on Wilderness, learn why it's there and how to use it. It's designated wilderness for a reason. We spend more time in wilderness than any where else and it's frustrating to see people treating it like there personal back yard and ignoring the essence of these beautiful places. Like whiskey, enjoy responsibley and leave technology behind.

I have 7 gold tip hunters cut at 28 3/4 for 10 bucks if you want to try your set up ?? Let me know , I can put brass up front and re fletch also if you want to test some other stuff.

That's funny I'm shooting the same heads. Luckily they are really close to my field points and only off to the right slightly so easy adjustment . Just switched to them last year and they shoot well but havnt tested on animals yet. Of course there's a lot of opinion out there, little differences like 150 broadhead and light insert vs 100 broadhead and brass insert end up being how do they shoot in the end. I agree the size difference is slight from the 100 to the 150 and cutting will be also bigger but slight. Hard to say either way is "the way " just happens I went 100 grn broadhead and brass
-
Yes, a 150 broad head will tend to be larger and effect flight more with more surface area. I'm running 100 grn broad heads with brass inserts. 510 grn total weight. Only thing I'm looking at now is 3 fletch vs. 4 fletch.

How are you going to to get that 150 up front ? What broadhead what insert
-
I'm shooting 29 in arrows with 150 up front at 68 lbs 340 spine and they shoot great. I think splitting hairs on spine is if your not getting good groups.

Been playing around with the old cowboy guns lately and became interested in quick draw pistol competition, after playing with some mounted shooting it was fairly cheap since I have all that stuff already. Going to be testing some new toys I made up to see what speed difference there is between 45 rounds with wax projectiles being driven with magnum primer, 209 shot primer, and the hopped up 22 blank. This is too much fun.

Man you just missed the winter range shoot, I picked a bunch up there. Never been to the outdoor expo but if the mounted shooters are there they might have some vendors selling , make sure you wear your cowboy hat or they won't sell you any.

Hey Flatlander my son has had 2 ram 1500 trucks and both seemed to be great overall, I havnt owned a 1/2 truck since 1994 so I'm not much help other than that. He has towed with his 2016 and it does very well . Empty that thing really gets after it , lots of low end power like most gas trucks.

Ya I had a cure come out like that on elk, never on deer or beef just elk. Guess it's just too lean or something for the cure to get to the center? Who knows,

Looks really good but how did that center come out on temp?

Sounds right, drive road, see deer , dive out and chase deer, idles for 45 minutes. Haha we have the same rig in red at the cabin with 350 miles on it. Drive it ounce a week to take trash out. -
Look up JW Brooks if you want high end custom fitted , there is also a place here in wickenburg downtown right by the chamber building but I don't know the name. They do custom and off the shelf. I have owned 2 customs and wish I never did, they are like going from bushnell binos to swaro in quality. I lost my last one to a blizzard on horseback and have missed it ever since. Not sure if Aztec hats is still around but they did my first one and got me hooked

That unit doesn't seem like a packer type area. Pretty good access on roads. If you drop something in a canyon you will most likely have to pack it to horse access anyway. I've done a little riding up there around some of the canyons and horses can't just pile off anywhere. That being said the main issues for packers is there just aren't many out there in az these days and of course the game laws hinder recreational guys like me from helping unless we do it at our expense. Might be worth it to check out some of the ranches up there in the unit to see if they have Cowboys who would help close by .
