So this is listed as a daypack, are you backpacking or just day hunting with it? Mine I use backpacking up to 7 days, I really like the set up and 4.5 isnt bad for weight, actually they list on the website at 3.9 lbs. If It would work for extended trips and I could get a deal like that I would go for it too. Let us know how it holds up

plus one on the audio books, my wife and i buy a new one every road trip up to the cabin, way to go on the old crow mention in there and ledoux is tops, little joe the wrangler. gotta have some kid rock and 5 finger bad company puts me in 7 minute mile mode.

Wow, we need to tune your pack a little??? I can run 3 days backcountry at 35 lbs including spot scope tripod and pistol, a good book and all the needed items for safety including gps. I dont go in where there is not water to be had so that makes a big difference, was there water anywhere where you were at? I do hunt an area where water is 5 miles away and day 2 is spent muling water back to camp. Usually day 4 is the same but 6 or seven days can be had still running 40 to 45 lbs going in. The water haul afternoons are tuff but you can hunt all that way so its not terrible.

Is that the empty weight? Yes sir, I wish it was fully loaded weight. I just know I look at these hunting specific packs and they are all heavier than mine and cost alot more. My buddy has the badlands 4500 or whatever and its 6 plus pounds empty. I will stick with mine and buy another when it takes a dump and still will not have spent as much as he did.

my kelty weighs 3 lbs and has held up great no issues and is 170 bucks, no need to spend like a king on a pack. the hunting pack market is crazy and some are very nice but too much money. most high end packs are heavier than my pack but double the price if not more. congrats on a very nice pack, if i had expendable cashflow i would do this pack its a good design

I was having the same problem last year not finding any pigs and it took me like 10 full days in different areas until I caught them, Now I trip over them all the time. Just keep looking, where you were your were in the right place but up there you need to get off the road a ways and find some drainages.

that is one beatiful weapon, hope you find it a good home. -
You want the thermometer to be in the center most portion of the meat no mater the type. Basically where the meat would be coolest durring cooking so you are sure to get all meat to the correct temp, keep in mind most meat will go up in temp off the heat up to 8 degrees or more while resting. I have a nice digital that stays in at all time even on the grill. My oven has a temp probe built in which is nice.

I think it's time to help Game and Fish out a bit.

i like this idea, i too am planning doing my best to go after some predetors this year. i spend most of my hunting and scouting time in wilderness or remote areas and rarely see any people, i also dont see as much game as one would think. i believe this is do to the fact that not only is it tough to hunt deer or elk it is equally tough if not more to hunt predetors i these areas so the game numbers in wild barely touched areas are sometimes lower than heavy traffic areas. guys pic off yotes and lions in likely areas and no one hunts wilderness for them. i guess i need to learn to pack dogs with mules so i can go cat hunting. one thing that would help is offer up when your going out for dogs or cats and offer to hook up with other guys who need to learn and build up the community of hunters with the skills to call. i think game and fish should get involved and hire outfitters to hunt as well in specific areas, game wardens used to do nothing but hunt predetors. the herd of buffalo survived up north due to a game warden up there killing some 600 lion over his career -
Why do I plan for months for hunting and get up at 3 am to be there on time and I cant seem to get the tile done in the hallway????

What's the craziest thing you have done while out hunting?

this is a great thread, trophy just gained a notch on the old respect meter and workman gets 2 notches for his drnk making. keep it going -
maybe try puting sleep pad down at bottom back of pack makes it nice with more surface to set it down and not have to lean it on something. remember never leave your bow anywhere and walk even 10 feet to glass or pee, keep it close always. also gps mark your pack if going for a stock, very easy to lose the spot and be surching for your pack. lol very cool to see someone take advise then use it, cant wait to see story and pics. i will be up next weekend packing mules for one last deer hunt
-
outfitter with mules all the way, best chance i would say. why wait for that many points and not put everything possible in your favor.
-
great thats where i go jogging, you should have plowed him. lol i do workouts for me and my mules in the white tanks and have seen lions in there, they have a big range i bet they are headed for that festival place and picking off some yappers. lol hope i can get out there with you soon. keep at it cant wait to see some lion down pics.

who says i didnt????

One more item I forgot is I put some iodine tabs in my filter bag, always have and my kaytadin filter broke one trip and I used the iodine for 2 days, saved my hunt trip. Also why I run the MSR now, it has a blead off valve when it gets clogged it spits out the bleeder, my other one just blew out the check valve and died. I also bring the silt stopper from MSR for bad water, I have filtered water from brown almost empty mud water holes and filter clogs quick so the silt stopper helps alot. REI is a great place to shop, they use all the items they carry and can tell you real world info.
