I think in my opinion only, it boils down to what makes you happy. I would imagine hunting with an outfit would be alot of fun with like minded guys and gals hanging out in the hills. I agree going out of state it would be helpful. Myself I would use outfits in certain situations but most of the time I would just DIY. I enjoy the research and scouting and knowing I did the work. There was a recent video of a hunt for a monster and it was all the outfitters guys like 6 of them doing all the work and then the hunter shows up with cash and spends 2 days and bam trophy. That is not appealing to me but I can certainly see where it would be to some. I would rather take my cash and spend more time in the hills. Some people just want the reward and not the work. Maybe they just never got both the work and reward to realize thats even better. I like the idea of going out of state and being packed into a camp then hunting on my own from there, I think that would be a way I would use outfitters. I too wish azgf would allow outfitters to work outside of guides. I would pack guys into camps of their choice from time to time for little cash but thats a cost of 1500. a year plus forest fees just for me to do that. To me hunting is just that, hunt and find the game and take it. Not call up a crew of guys and have them do it for me. I see the validity in its a ounce in a lifetime sheep tag you better get a guide, well I say you should have spent the last 30 years scouting while waiting for that tag if you really wanted to "hunt" sheep. Like I said whatever makes you happy but I can tell you from being new at this, when I scout and find good areas and animals I am on top of the world.

AZGFD Lic Scam?????????????
MULEPACKHUNTER replied to ArizonaWildernessHunter's topic in The Campfire
Deadline to apply for spring draw is Oct. 14, 2014 As the Oct. 14 deadline approaches to apply for spring 2015 hunts for turkey, javelina, buffalo and bear, the Arizona Game and Fish Department has been receiving questions from constituents asking if they need to buy "a 2015 hunting license" in order to apply for the spring 2015 draw. With the establishment of the new license structure this year, licenses (other than short-term licenses) are now valid for one year rather than just for the calendar year. Therefore, to apply for a draw you now only need a "valid" hunting license or combination hunt/fish license, as long as that license is valid as of the deadline for that draw. If you already bought your license this year, it most likely will satisfy the license requirement in order to apply for the spring 2015 draw. Check the dates of your current license. If you haven't yet purchased a license this year, you'll need to buy one either online, at a Game and Fish office, at an authorized license dealer, or through the draw process at the time you’re applying for the draw. Keep in mind, however, that you need to have a valid license when you are in the field for your hunt. If your current license expires before your hunt, you'll need to purchase a new license before you go on your hunt. As an example, if you bought your license from a license dealer on Jan. 1, 2014, it would be valid for 365 days and would therefore be valid when you apply this year for the 2015 spring draw. However, if you are drawn and your hunt is in mid February 2015, you'll need to buy a new license before you go out on your hunt (or for that matter, if you want to do any hunting after the expiration of your existing license). In the past, when all licenses expired at the end of the calendar year, sportsmen who applied for spring hunts were accustomed to purchasing their next year's license in advance. Hunters will now need to remember when their license expires. It is the hunter's responsibility to make sure that they have a valid license any time they go hunting. One way to make the process easier is to get on a yearly cycle of purchasing a new license. If you don't already have your hunting or combo license but need to buy one, licenses are valid for one year, but there are different options depending on how you buy your license: If you buy your license from a license dealer or through the online draw application process, your start date (the date your license becomes valid) will be the date you purchase the license. If you buy your license through the paper draw application process, your start date will be the published deadline date for that draw. If you buy your license separately at www.azgfd.gov/eservices/licenses.shtml or from a Game and Fish office, you can name your own start date up to 60 days beyond the date you purchase it, and it will be valid for one year from that date. (If you already have a license and want to buy a new one, you can buy it 60 days prior to the expiration of your existing license and request the start day to run consecutively after the expiration of your existing license. As an example, anyone who bought their license on or with a start date of Jan. 1, 2014, would be able to buy their new license as early as Nov. 1, 2014 and designate the start date as Jan. 1, 2015.) Copies of the 2015 Spring Turkey, Javelina, Buffalo and Bear Hunt Draw Information booklet are available at license dealers, at Game and Fish offices, or online at www.azgfd.gov/draw. For more information about the draw, visit www.azgfd.gov/draw. -
Looks like some highly motivated individuals putting it togeather. Very nice. I had an off week and didn't workout until Friday. Made a 4 miler then packed up for 3 days at sheep's crossing with 6 teenagers. I am so sore I had to sit down to put my socks on. Many miles hiking and jogging miXxed in with several miles of kayak paddling and even a few rope swings. You name it we did it. Now for a long Monday at work and let's see if I can talk the body into a short run tonight.

Nice Job love to see the horses working.

I see your selling off horse flesh so you can afford a mule. Ha Ha kidding, hope my daughter doesn't see this she still is talking about that paint of yours. If I didnt just buy her new tires I would have jumped on this.

Important information for hunters regarding road closures in southeastern Arizona Sept. 30, 2014 Hunters and others engaging in outdoor recreation in southeastern Arizona are advised to be aware of (1) a road closure in Game Management Unit 32 in the Klondyke area, and (2) temporary storm-related closures of some roads and recreation sites in the Chiricahua Mountains (Game Management Unit 29). (1) Closure of Long Hollow Road access point in GMU 32 -- Klondyke area Due to a change in private land ownership in the area, there is no longer public access to State Trust lands or Forest Service lands through the Long Hollow Road access point (near Klondyke) in Game Management Unit 32. (2) Temporary road and recreation site closures in Chiricahua Mountains (GMU 29) due to storm damage Due to damage from recent storms, the Coronado National Forest has temporarily closed some roads and recreation sites for public safety reasons in the Chiricahua Mountains in Game Management Unit 29. Below is a news release that was issued on Sept. 26 by the Coronado National Forest: TUCSON, AZ (September 26, 2014) -- Some roads and recreation sites located on the Douglas Ranger District of the Coronado National Forest are being temporarily closed due to damage related to recent storms in the area. The areas are closed to allow for public safety in the Chiricahua Mountains after recent flood events caused significant road damage and erosion concerns. Closures will remain in effect until September 22, 2015, or until rescinded, whichever event occurs first. Reports indicate that saturated soils and runoff debris are present in many areas of the Chiricahua Mountains. Motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists are urged to use extreme caution while in the area, and are advised that even small amounts of precipitation may result in flash flooding.
