I was with a guide buddy getting shown around unit 10 for my archery antelope hunt this past Aug. As he was taking me to one of his glassing spots, he told me a story from a couple seasons ago. His brother had a 400+" plus bull on one of their game cameras 2 weeks before opening morning. My buddies client shot that same bull 2 weeks later, 28 miles away. Edit: I misread that as a bull you shot, not buck. My bad.

Heading back up for the last 2 days of the hunt. Since it's higher in elevation, I'm thinking about hunting the west side of the unit this time instead of the east. Since I never scouted that side, do I try it, or do I just stick to hunting closer to Pindale and Show Low?

I wasn't trying to claim a hunting area, I just didn't appreciate that this guy decided to continue heading on down to the end of the 2 track at the bottom after he acknowledged me. I guess I expected a more ethical reaction. Well, about 20 min after he passed me and I posted that, I hear a chainsaw. This guy went down there to cut wood. I couldn't believe it. This is a super rocky and overgrown 2 track that runs down to the bottom of this valley, and he chose there too cut his firewood for the winter. I did a quick loop at noon around to Pinedale and back to camp, and I pass this guy south of Pinedale with a full truck of wood, about 15 miles from where I saw him that morning.

It was old and red but I didn't even look to see if it was a long bed. I was too busy mad dogging him.

So who's the asshole that's driving around in their old Chevy pickup? I bust my butt hiking an area and get situated while it's still dark, and this idiot decides to drive right through the valley I'm in. He sees me and waves and just keeps going knowing full well I'm hunting this area. When does road hunter season open?

My BIL and I will be there. FR300 was nasty last weekend. Deep, thick, slippery mud. Saw lots of does, but no bucks. But we also weren't doing our scouting during prime hunting hrs bc we didn't want to ruin anyone's youth elk hunt. We just looked for sign and good glassing spots. I hope non of you snag the awesome camping spot we found.

I hunted unit 10 goats this weekend and we only ran into a couple other hunters. We hunted the Boquillas Ranch the whole time so maybe that's why we didn't see many other hunters. There are a lot of monster bucks out there. The rifle guys are going to be very very happy. -
My buddy and I both drew unit 10 archery with 1 bp each.
-
I got a $180 hit on Fri for my buddy and I. Each of us had only 1 BP and we either got unit 9 or 10 archery speed goat.

I'm going be hunting in 34b this weekend if anyone wants to meet up and work together on finding some pigs on Sat or Sun. My hunting partner has family obligations so I was gonna fly solo. Let me know.

I'm sitting a water hole in 34b right now and it's dead out here. Covered 6 miles this morning and only found a pile of crap as I was approaching my truck.

Holy crap you're right. That could a been really bad. For some reason I had it in my head that I had the whole month of Jan for the archery hunt. I'm so glad I made myself look like an idiot on here instead of in front of a game warden. Thanks.

Since tomorrow is my last day to hunt pigs this season, I need to know where to spend it. My hunt covers 17a&b, 18b, 19a&b, and 20a. I plan on hitting up the hills around Kirkland and skull valley. One side of the hwy is 17b, the other 20a. You guys pick the side and I'll hunt that. Not looking for any secret spots, just what side you would rather hunt.
-
Alright, you guys have convinced me to go tomorrow. I think I found a couple spots on google earth that have some good rock faces. Just as long as they are on the side the direction the wind is blowing.
-
I've decided to hit up 18b tomorrow and Wikiup is supposed to have a high of 45° with 10-15mph winds. I know the stink pigs don't like the wind nor the cold, but will those wind speeds and temps be too much for them to get out and move around? I don't want to waste the day if they are just gonna be tucked up the whole time.
