Heck of a year Jason!!!! Congrats!!! You know if you kill a deer in Jan., it is a long wait till the next Jan. Especially if you don't draw anything anywhere else (speaking from experience ). Man this is going to be a long two months. Brian

Yeah, it actually snowed

Not to often Snowflake gets more snow than we do in Lakeside. We got about 2" last night. Brian -
I've looked to see if this has been posted yet and didn't see it so i thought I would post. Monster archery bull that was killed. It is on Jay Scott's Blog. Here is the link. Hope it is not against the rules to post this link, if so just let me know and I will remove it. Brian http://jayscottoutdoors.blogspot.com/2009/...nster-bull.html Here is a link to a video of him. http://www.youtube.com/mxcoueshntr#play/up...s/0/6do8MHGGxIU

A few years ago I had a friend that hit a bull on the last evening of the season and decided to leave it till morning. He contacted the g and f and they told him he could go look to retrieve the animal, but could not take a weapon with him to dispatch the bull if he was still alive after the season closed. Luckily the bull was already dead. Maybe now days they will let you, a few years ago they wouldn't. I would check and make sure first. Brian

Hey everyone, decided today to head to San Carlos Lake today (since no one wanted to let me tag along elk hunting). Got on the water around 6:20 a.m. Took about an hour to figure out what color the fish wanted. Ended up catching 21 bass with the largest being 3 lbs. Fished for crappie for about an hour before coming off the lake. Marked crappie almost everywhere I went but couldn't get them to bite. Ended up with only 1 crappie. Caught the bass on dropshot with a gulp shakey worm in a red/black color. Got off the water at 11:00 am. Had a good time. One other note. The lake is down to 4%. If you are heading to the lake be very carefull on the water. One spot in the middle of the lake out from Willow Springs Cove a hump comes up and is only 8' deep. If the water continues to fall that will be a lower unit killer. Brian

Sorry no pics. I have a problem of taking the camera fishing with good intentions of using it, but nearly always come home without a pic. I guess I need to take a few lessons from Doug/RedRabbit. Brian

Went and picked up my cameras this morning. Had a lot of pics over the past two weeks. Here are a few of them. Brian

Remington 600's, 660's and mohawks

Have the exact same gun. My dad bought it brand new for $100 back when they first came out. Heck of a deer gun. It used to be accurate as heck until I let my brother n law and his kids use it for deer hunting. After they killed deer they shot about 100 rounds through it with out letting it cool, one right after another, and now it is lucky to hit a basketball at 100 yards. Burned up the barrel. Need a new one. Anyway they are great little guns. Brian -
How do you pass the time in the blind?
standman replied to capt88's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I play games on my ipod or watch all the movies that I have on my ipod. I put one ear piece in and leave the other one out so I can hear what is going on outsite. Reading will put me to sleep so I don't do that. The one thing I haven't figured out is how to hook up the ac and generator to the blind without spooking all the deer Working on it though Brian -

Ground blinds and photo radar

Think I found one of those signs by the AZGFD today: ATTENTION YOGI: You are now entering a prickly pear/acorn patch. There may be hunters in stands/blinds or on opposite ridge 500 yards away with high power optics ready to end your last meal without notice. Please proceed with caution in gorging yourselves. Also tell Boo Boo to avoid picnic basket under cedar tree. Live long and prosper. Thank You, AZGFD -
I hear good karma came to AZOnecam. Way to go Jason!! Brian

That pic has been on the AZGFD website pictures for a while. According to the date on the pic it is from 2008. Heck of a buck. Here is the link: http://www.azgfd.net/photos/details.php?image_id=1956 Brian

I was going over my pics I got from my cams last week and I came across this and noticed something different about his horns. I zoomed in on them and I am having a hard time seeing what is going on with his right antler. Thought I would post it up and see what everyone else thinks. Brian
-
Never mind I think I figured it out. Don't think there is anything odd about it. The camera angle and the way the deer's head is the g2 is just inline with the main beam which makes it look like a hole in the horn. Brian
-
That is going to be on cool looking buck!!!! Thanks for sharing. Brian

What weird stuff have you glassed or happen well glassing for game?
standman replied to seek100plus's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
The weirdest thing that happened to me was when I was sitting in a treestand for elk and the big aspen tree that was next to me decided it was his time to fall over. It came crashing down not 5 yards in front of me. I thought I was a gonner for sure. The strangest thing that happen to my dad was in New Mexico. He was in a treestand when a group of elk came in. My dad left his pack at the base of the tree. One cow came over to the pack and grabbed it with her teeth and just started shaking it. It kind of spooked the other elk when the buckles clack together, but once they seen that it was the other cow that was making all the racket they settled down. Then the cow decided to take the pack and run all over the place with it. My dad said this lasted for about 10 minutes before the cow finally dropped it and went on her way. Then he had to find the pack after dark when he got out of the tree. That was a chore in itself. Brian
