Caught the bass on dropshot with Morning Dawn Roboworms. Brian
-
Bass were in 15-20' of water on main lake points. San Carlos is looking pretty good water wise. It has a ways to go to be up with last year. The foundations of the old town of San Carlos are still out of the water about 8'. Not many people out there fishing. Only 4 other boats. One other thing the road into Mohave Point is pretty rough with one wash that is rough to cross with a washout. I just like to launch there so when the wind comes up it is a short ride instead of fighting it all the way to Soda Canyon. Brian

I use the primos strutting tom, B-mobile, with a real fan and a jake decoy that sits on top of a hen decoy. Setup works to almost perfection. I have spur gashes in the jake decoy to prove it. Brian

Thought I would share my goulds fan mount that I just got finished. I think it turned out great. Hopefully I will get a chance at another goulds to have one that matches it. Brian

For me nothing too exotic, just archery caribou and sitka blacktails on Kodiak Island. Brian

standman replied to arizonaelitefreak's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
It is raining here in Lakeside. With all this snow and now raining on top of it. Look out for another wall of water heading south Brian -

Spent 8 days first of the month in 29 and nothing. No scrapes, rubs or bucks with does. Then went back for 4 days this last weekend and found new scrapes and rubs and bucks with does. So I think it just started down there. Brian

That there looks like it might do the trick. I may try them. Thanks! I have a set of these on my Minox 15s. They work good for blocking the sunlight on the sides but they won't help with any comfort around the eyes. They are only made for blocking the side glare. They have a tendency to come off pretty easily too. Finding a way to keep them on without losing them will be the trick. But they are better than nothing at all. This is just what I have experienced with them. Brian

Where I am hunting in SE Arizona the whitetails are not doing anything. However the muleys are going nuts. Brian

Just heard that it will be "unlimited take" at San Carlos Lake until January. You still must buy a fishing license but limits have been lifted. The gates at the dam will be reopened in the next couple of weeks. Sure is sad to see a great fishery go down the tubes for a while. Brian

I got what I wanted, Columbia boots, Gold Tip shafts, and some other odds and ends. Oh, and as a stocking stuffer I got what I really wanted, a "butt-out tool" Brian

Well Done!!!!!

Well it has been a while since I have posted a predator hunt so I thought I'd show a picture of this evenings hunt. Here is a grey fox I called. He came in at the 5 minute mark to sound of fighting foxes. My 12 gauge put him down at 25 yards. I called another in on my next stand but he lives to see another day. I just don't know how a guy can miss with a shotgun . Anyway hope you like the picture. Brian

Yeah I was high. I rushed the shot and didn't get down on my gun. I should have been more patient and let him come to a different hole. I have not called a cat yet this year. For some reason all my good cat spots seem to be void of them this year. No sign of them at all. Oh well, that is why they call it huntin'. Brian

Looks like around 12-14 inches here in Lakeside. Hard to tell exactly how much because the wind blew so much snow. Great to see it. On the Sunrise Ski Resort Website they say they go 24-30". http://www.sunriseskipark.com/ Brian

This is exactly how I feel. I ended my hunt in the first 45 minutes on Jan. 1 last year on this 3x3 mule deer because of the way the hunt panned out. I called him in using a grunt call and the primos can. First time I ever did that on a buck. If he would of been a spike I probably would of killed him. Brian

From what I understand the San Carlos tribe does not own the water rights. The farmers down river do and they are using it for irrigation. The gates on the dam were closed but from what I understand they were not supposed to be closed. So now they have to be opened again and without a miracle there probably will be a fish die off. A few years ago, I believe J.D. Hayworth stepped in when the lake got real low and worked out a deal for water to be diverted from somewhere else so the lake wouldn't go dry. Maybe too late for any help now. I also grew up on this lake and my dad has been fishing it for over 40 years. It is sad to see my favorite lake in the shape that it is in now. But it will come back, it has before. Brian
