    San Carlos 4/3

Yep that was you. We were in grey gmc sierra with a boat with a blue cover on it. Mohave is the one to the right fork, left fork goes to the memorial. Mohave has the blue top huts on it. Watch out on the concrete ramp, if you back to far you will back off the end of the ramp and fall off about 5 ft. If you take the road to the memorial and then take a left at the corral you go off into the SC arm and launch there.

Jason did you launch at Mohave? IF you did I think I passed you on the road going into Mohave. You going in, me coming out. Think that was around 5:30 or so yesterday evening. Great pics. Looks like a good time with the family. I know nothing about night fishing. Been a few times in the past but never could get into it. Always seemed, like you said, the later it got, the smaller the fish. FYI, you can launch now over in the San Carlos arm. Looked like there was 200 (maybe not that many but it looked like you could walk across them) boats out in the flotilla in the san carlos arm yesterday.

Dad and I hit SC this afternoon. We caught 37 crappie all shallow. All but 4 on minnows. Water temps 64-66. Not too bad for after the front. Also alot of crappie being caught in flotilla in mouth of San Carlos Arm. Brian

    Chef Inspired Me

Chef's pictures of his cooking expertise inspired me to do a little of my own. Being depressed about draw results also was a factor . So here we are, dutch oven chicken and cheesy potatoes. Brian

    two elk tags here

A few years ago, I had a run of 12 elk tags in a row snapped. All archery with 2 bull tags mixed in. Now I am one of the dumb ones just putting in for the hard bull tags. One more bull tag and I will go back to cow hunts second choice and hopefully start another run of elk tags. Congrats again. Brian

Dad and I went to Roosey yesterday evening and the bassin' is great. We caught 9 with 16 hookups total on senkos. Water temps were 65. Fish were pretty shallow with some males showing signs of fanning beds. Beautiful evening on the water. Heading to SC tomorrow chasing crappies again. Brian

    San Carlos 3/22

Went to San Carlos today and the cold front put a hurting on the fishing. We ended up with only four crappie and two bass all caught in the shallows. Going to hit the lake again on Friday afternoon. Tomorrow afternoon going to go to Roosey. Brian

    San Carlos 3/22

A friend and I went to San Carlos this evening looking for shallow crappie. We caught 14 crappie and 2 bass. Caught them on 1/32 oz kalin grubs in less than 3 ft of water. Water temps in shallow were 64. Think we had 10 males and four females. It was a good evening. Brian

    Roosevelt 3/21

Jason, I fished TR and my dad fished wacky. One worked as good as the other. Colors: watermelon and green pumpkin. TJ, Wish fishing was my only job . It is just easy when my dad winters in Globe and has a place to stay at. And it helps when you have the the whole week off . Brian

    Roosevelt 3/21

My dad and I hit Roosey this evening for 3 hours. What a gorgeous evening it was on the water. No wind and most of the people went home. We caught 8 bass with 1 over and had 7 others hooked up that came off in the trees. All on senkos. All fish were shallow this time, less than 7 ft of water. Water was 63 degrees this evening. Water has fallen it looked like a good 2 ft too. Must be letting alot out. Headed to San Carlos tomorrow afternoon to see again if any crappies have moved shallow yet. Don't have high hopes for that though. Got to keep checking though. Brian

    Roosevelt Lake 3/19

Don't feel bad about getting skunked. I got skunked on San Carlos yesterday. We fished the afternoon till almost dark only hitting the shallows looking for male crappie trying to move in and nada. It kinda hurt my feelings too. Brian

Went to Roosevelt this morning. Started off a little breezy and sprinkly but the fishing was pretty good. My dad and I caught 17 Bass, 2 overs the rest slots, on senkos (wacky and texas rigged) fished in 10-20 ft of water. Water temps were 58-61. It was a good day. Brian

crappie turning on at san carlos

The debris lately hasn't been terrible. Some trees and limbs here and there. There is quite a bit of saw dust on the water. Seems like most of the debri has been pushed to the shorelines. Guess it just depends which way the wind blows and pushes the debri. Brian

crappie turning on at san carlos

The road into Mohave is pretty rough. This first main wash where the old vehicle is buried in the sand has been washed out some and is rough to cross. Depending on the length of your boat, ;you could drag the back end. We go through it with our boat and we drag the license plate. Brian

    San Carlos Crappie

I bought an annual permit last year but refuse to pay their price this year if they actually went up another $50. Did the daily permits go up as well? I really like fishing San Carlos but they might have just reached my limit that I will pay. Sad that they have to be so money hungry. TJ The daily permits are still the same price and are for 24 hours from the time you buy them. The annuals are getting expensive but for me, as much as I go year round, the annual price still saves me quite a bit of money. As for the fishing I was there thursday and as the saying goes should have been the day before. It was slow for everyone. Got blowed off the lake at 1 pm. The day before people said the bite was better with everyone catching some fish but no huge numbers, most were in the low teens. Brian

    San Carlos Crappie

My dad and uncle went to San Carlos today. They launched at Mohave Point. They said that the water has come up quite a bit since last week. The water is still quite dirty. Water temps were 52 when they got on and 57 when they got off the water. They caught 5 crappie. They said that was better than most of the other boats. They said one boat was catching a few more slow trolling in a tight circle probably over a tree. Everyone was trolling off of San Carlos Point. I will be at the lake on Thursday and I will post another report then. One other note: my uncle tried to buy an annual one pole fishing permit and was told as of last Friday the price changed from $125 plus $5 habitat stamp to $175 plus $5 habitat stamp. He checked both the express stop and circle k and they both said the same thing. Glad I got mine earlier. Just thought I would throw that in for those who are interested. Brian

    San Carlos Crappie

Heard of a few being caught on Saturday. No big numbers I think the most was around 10 with most people having one or two. My dad is going tomorrow and I am going Thursday and Friday. I will post what happens on those days. Lake is still rising. Brian

    San Carlos & Apache Report

Went to San Carlos Lake on 2/18. Launched at Mohave Point. Water depth out from Mohave was 31ft. Fished for crappie out off of San Carlos Point. Water depth there was 23-25ft. Caught 1 crappie and had 2 others on that came off. Water is still pretty dingy but not chocolate milk. A lot of trash on the water so be careful when on the water. Marked a lot of fish so they are still there. Water temps were 51 early to 56 when we left. Went to Apache Lake today bass fishing. Launched at Burnt Corral. Ended up catching six nice largemouths. Boy are they fat. Look like little footballs. Also caught one channel cat that went about 8lbs. Water temps there were around 53. Water is pretty dirty from Burnt Corral up to the Roosevelt Dam. It cleans up heading the other way. All in all it was good to back on the water. Brian
