Wasted My Late Dec Tag For Archery Buck
standman replied to standman's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Yeah I was already thinking of donating it. I am going to see who I can donate it to. If anyone knows who I can contact about it please send me some info. Thanks. Brian Eddie Corona with Outdoor Experiences 4 All is who I would contact. I'll see if I can get his contact info for ya. Which unit is your tag for? If it's a unit I know, I'd be willing to donate some time to help the lucky recipient of your tag as well! Thanks Jim. It is a unit 23 tag. Brian -

I got to see and hold the one called lobster today. Absolutely amazing. Not the prettiest deer in the world but one of the narliest bucks I've seen. The pics just don't do the buck justice. Absolutely unreal. Brian

Mathews bows require you to change the cams. They run around $100 bucks for a new cam from a bowshop. Brian

Jason, Great looking buck!! Summer deer have little necks, thin skin, and thin hair. The just don't look the same as the winter deer. With that said looks like the neck is a little small especially towards the jaw, but that may just be the deer. Here is a comparison to my brother's buck from two years ago (cell phone pics). Brian

Well another big storm came through Lakeside yesterday and wouldn't you know it lightning hit the phone line and it went clear through the house destroying everything in its path. It first blew up the phone jack and caught the carpet on fire. Blew the phone clear across the living room. Fried two tvs, two dvd players, surround sound, keyboard piano, two lamps, pellet stove, computer, dsl modem completely exploded in to pieces, printer, three satellite receivers, and a sterio. Lightning went around the drip edge on the roof and then came out on a corner eave and just splintered the corner. It also burned all satellite cables outside the house in two. And finally knocked one mount off the wall. So the moral of the story is that when in doubt unplug everything during a storm. It could of been worse, could of fried all the kitchen appliances or even burned the house down. Brian

My dad and I decided to go hit Black Canyon this morning. We had never been there so this was a new experience for us. Left home at 4:30am and got on the water around 6:30. We did not know what to expect but we were pleasantly suprised at what happened. We ended up catching 39 bass. Largest was 3lbs with most being between 3/4lb to 2lbs. I ended up catching 28 on a Rapala suspending jerk bait and my dad caught 11 on 4" Senkos rigged wacky. Fish were in 5-12ft of water. Water temps ranged from 61-64. We will definately go back as we had a great time. Here are a few pics. Brian

Not sure how early they open but the bar at Los Corrales in Pinetop will have it. They had it on at lunch today anyway. Brian

That is a good mess of smallies! I have only been to Willow Springs once, may have to go back. I have been back to Black Canyon two more times since. Although the fishing wasn't as hot as the first time there, it still has been pretty good. Including yesterday with one that went 3.5 lbs. Brian

Had the priviledge to spend two days helping on three junior turkey hunts. Birds were very vocal on the roosts but nearly silent once they hit the ground. We could get them to shock gobble on the ground but not gobble at the turkey calls, but that didn't mean they wouldn't come in silent. . Here is Sam. He is the son of my brother's business partner with his third tom. My brother and I were able to get this tom into about twenty yards at 11 a.m. opening moring. Sam smoked him for his third bird. My uncle and two cousins were not supposed to be up until Friday night so we spent the rest of the day scouting and roosting birds. The next morning Sam and I took my cousin Bryant out, while my uncle and brother took out my other cousin Tyler. Sam and I were able to call two toms in at 8:15 a.m. for Bryant. Bryant made a heck of a shot as the birds hung up at 53 yards and he put him down right there. My uncle and brother were able the call a tom in for Tyler the same morning and he made a great shot on him. I don't have pictures of him as all the pics are on my uncle's camera. What a great weekend!! Three for three the first two days of the season. Everyone had a great time, and all of us can't wait till we get to do it again. Brian

My dad and I went to Apache Lake this morning and man did we have a good time. We caught 16 bass, 2 catfish (6 and 3lbs), 2 yellow bass, 1 walleye, and about ten nice blue gills. Caught the bass and catfish on dropshot with gulp minnows, yellow bass, walleye and bluegills on 1/32 oz kalin grub. Water temps were around 67 degrees. Everything was caught in 10 to 15 ft of water on the Burnt Corral end of the lake. Here are some pics of my dad and some of his fish. Thanks for looking. Brian

Nice Job! Great Pics! How is the slimy green moss there now? Is it getting any better or is it still bad? Brian

Today was such a nice day so I had to go fishing. This evening went to Show Low Lake looking for smallies. Ended up catching 8, all in the 1-2 lb range. All were caught on drop shot in 10-15ft of water. Nice to see the smallies really taking hold in this lake. Now if I can get the walleyes to start biting in the next couple weeks life would be great. I feel sorry for you guys down in Snowflake. Not for just the wind but the blowing dust and dirt. I made the mistake one day of going down there visiting a friend on a windy day, left window down in car, came back out and could of grown potatoes on the dash. Brian

No pics this time. Forgot the camera. Brian

No problem. I will probably hit SL again several times between now and then. I will let you know how things go. SL is loaded with trout too. Looks like they stocked with a bunch of them. Brian

My dad and I went to Apache yesterday morning. Lake was a little breezy all morning. Water temps were around 64. We caught 9 bass (2 smallies). We couldn't find any real pattern. Tried jerk baits, cranks, senkos, and drop shot. Most came on drop shot. It was good morning to be out and not get blowed off. This morning we went to Roosey and what a beautiful morning to be on the water. Couldn't get a top water bite at all. I went to a suspending jerk bait and it was on. I caught 9 on it and had another 7 come unbuttoned. After that bite died switched to senko and caught another 2 and lost 3 more in the trees. My dad ended up with 7 all on senkos and ended up only losing 1 fish. So a total of 18 caught and off the the water a little after 10 a.m. We had a great time with good fishing. Brian
