    What am I doing wrong???

Well here are my theories, for what they are worth. From what I have found elevation matters. Salt just does not work very well in lower elevations. I believe it has to do with the type of dirt. Sandy, rocky areas just don't work with salt. I have rarely seen a spot below 5000' work very well. Deer love to dig and eat the salty earth. They would rather eat the dirt around the salt than lick salt itself. Set up your spots close to bedding areas in a spot where the deer are getting pinched into a certain area. A good spot usually will take 2-5 years before it is truly a hot spot. Through the years with all the pics and data I have collected big mature bucks are not routine to salt. I have found they will only show up about every 1 1/2 to 2 weeks with does and immature bucks being a lot more regular. So like I said these are my theories on it with what I have seen. Brian

    2010 ML Bull

Jason, Way to get the most out of your hunt! Congrats on a very nice bull! Brian
  6. Ok, I have the National Geographic Software and have been comparing it to FS maps, it does not show near the water sources as the FS maps. Does the Garmin MapSource TOPO! US 24k Southwest show more than the National Geographic software? Or are the topos on both based on the same maps? Just like to have some opinions on the Garmin Software before I go and purchase it. Spring Hunts Reminder

Just thought I would remind everyone that tomorrow, Sept. 23, is the deadline for corrections on applications for the spring hunts, and the application deadline is Oct. 12. Don't forget you have to have a new 2011 hunting license to apply. Good luck. Brian

    Hoochie Mama

Never used one, never will. I feel nothing works better than a diaphram or the Carlton fighting cow call. I am not saying it is a bad call, I am just comfortable with what I have and the success that has came with it. Brian

  20. I contacted Chris Denham today from oe4a. He emailed me the form I needed to fill out to donate my tag. I got it filled out, and it and the tag was put in the mail this afternoon. So hopefully some lucky young person will get to enjoy a hunt. Thanks again for all the feedback on my buck. Thank you. Brian
  21. He was barely quartering to me when I shot him so I knew i had to be in the shoulder a little. It went through the shoulder but missed all the bone and came out about 4" behind the off side shoulder. Brian

    2010 Archery Coues buck

What a neat buck!! Congrats!! Brian
  25. Thanks Chris. I will get a hold of you tomorrow to see what I need to do to get this tag donated. And thanks everyone for the kind comments. I never had the shakes so bad in all my life as I did on this buck. It felt like I was drawing an 80lb bow. After the shot, I was shaking so hard that I couldn't even hold my bow. My dad was just shaking as hard as I was. LOL. Brian
